This is my second visit. This hotel is a refreshing change from all the cookie cutter chains that have no character. Dog friendly with water front parks on both sides of hotel property. The views of the lake at sunset are stunning. This looks like the place to be in the summer with lakeside pool, boats, and tiki bar. I...

We drove into town not knowing where to spend the night and while waiting for a pizza, consulted Trip Advisor. There were no rates listed and on calling found it to be quite competitive. This is not a standard motel; I understand why it is called an Inn. The room was spacious and the ambiance of the whole property was...

What a wonderful place. Friendly staff was able to check in early. They welcomed our bernese mountain dog puppy. Great view from our 2nd floor spa suite. Room was spacious and clean. Tiki bar was fun too. Pool clean and warm. Would recommend this resort.

Friendly, homey service, owner even allowed me to use his safe. Breakfast was complimentary, with eggs and waffles, etc every day. View of the lake was wonderful, Do not take room across from front desk!

We stayed in a Lake view room on the ground floor. All rooms came with a whirlpool tub, and a large refrigerator. No microwave, but they had an excellent hot breakfast every morning. They had a steakhouse restaurant on grounds, that served very good food! (although a little pricey). We stayed for 6 days, and would stay here again!

I have been visiting B.H.I. for at least ten years. Other than finally gettig a handle on the spider infestation as well as the partally submerged paddle boats, it has gotten progressively worse on many levels over the years. On my family's most recent visit : The older woman at the front desk had an aciid personality and did not...

It's obvious that this is a mom and pop hotel. The staff is a little quirky. The whole vibe of the place could be pulled together a little more eloquently. For instance, the outside looks rustic and the inside is more formal. There is a nonfunctional plexiglass piano sitting in the lobby. The hotel rooms have been updated and are...

This inn is very quaint and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The staff was exceptionally helpful, courteous, and friendly. The room exceeded our expectations and served all of our needs. The view of the lake was great too, especially at sunset! The adjoining restaurant had atmosphere, good food, and reasonable prices. They even provide chocolate chip cookies to their...

We were driving from the west coast to the east and as it got late one night passing through Indiana we decided to stop in La Porte. All the chains were sold out but we came across the Blue Heron Inn. Very courteous reception, very reasonable price to a large, clean suite and a great breakfast. Real scrambled eggs (with...

“Avoid floating cabins if you don't like musty or the 80s. Not as much movement as I thought there would be.”
  • 80s decor in the cabins, no hot water to shower. Handicap bench in corner?
  • Lots of turtles liked to visit our deck. They like Cheetos.
  • VHS VCR, NO WAY!!! Glad I didn't come to watch the TV.
  • Inside the cabin to view (my blanket on the bed, removed comforter)
  • Couch has seen better days, as well as everything in the cabin.
  • View/weathered deck.
  • View from cabin deck to one side- the restaurant, filled with people when it's opened.
  • View from the deck of our cabin. A lot more lake to left but sunset visible here.
