Alan and Nikki were absolutely superb hosts. Alan was extremely knowledgeable, highly experienced and skilled at spotting so many different animals for us.He was also an excellent and safe driver. We were amazed at what we saw thanks to him. Food was absolutely delicious, and a huge effort was made to provide extra vegetables and salads for the vegetarians in... More

Chongwe River House, a 6 night stay, was our last stop on a three week adventure through Namibia, Botswana, Livingstone and then the House. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Scott and Kim, together with Moses, our fabulous guide for the time we stayed and the front of house staff in Given and Lloyd. We cannot say... More

This was the climax to our family holiday in Zambia. The house is just incredible and photos can't do it justice; game can be viewed from your bed! The place is very open but only the monkeys come in. Game viewing and fishing were excellent; Moses our guide is very knowledgeable and could not have been more helpful. Food was... More

We spent 5 days here with friends for a special birthday celebration. The house is comfortable and luxurious and we never felt on top of each other. Game comes right up to the deck so you can sit and watch elephants, impala, warthogs etc very closely. Being on the Chongwe river game was viewed not only from drives, but also... More

We stayed at chongwe house for 3 nights in April. Their website really doesn't show the magnitude of this amazing house. 4 massive bedrooms and bathrooms. The lounge was incredible. Could have done with an extra day to just sit in the house and enjoy it but we had so many private game activities to do. Guides were amazing especially... More

This Flintstone looking house has four very spacious bedrooms with expansive living areas. This private setting was right on the Chongwee River with close proximity to the Zambezi River (Chongwee is a small tributary). It has abundant game right at the doorstep and excellent water activities. During our visit, the elephants came right next to the room. You got your... More

This private house has an amazing design, mimicking an animal's riverbank lair entwined with tree roots, mud and rocks, the kind you would find along the banks of the adjacent Chongwe river. We hadn't seen anything like it. Our hosts for the 4 nights were Anet and Matt, who manage the excellent team of staff. Anet manages the house beautifully... More

A useful definition of luxury is having the "space an time to enjoy your surroundings with friends". Chongwe River House provides you with just that. The location itself is wonderful. Good game come down to the river each day so there is plenty to keep you occupied even if you choose not to go out on an exciting game drive,... More

I stayed at Chongwe River Camp last week and love it. The setting is stunning - on the confluence of the Chongwe River and the mighty Zambezi. “"Nightlife" around the house consists of hippos communicating, fighting, mating, all quite noisily! Also occasional lion roars and a leopard had apparently killed an Impala one night between the kitchen and house albeit quietly. Tip; beware of the monkeys who steal any food left lying around.”
