This hotel is very nice. The room we stayed in had a fireplace and a very comfortable bed. Just got to stay for a short time but found many restaurants close by. I wish we had more time to explore. Hopefully we can come back.

This property is absolutely spectacular! We stayed here for a getaway that was close to home. This place did not disappoint. The room was huge and behind gorgeous, the staff was so professional and many restaurants were within walking distance. We hope to be back soon!

I spent two nights at the Des Lux, which was one of the hotel block options for a local event. I enjoyed a comfortable, quiet corner room, with high ceilings and a fireplace (too warm outside to use it, however). The room was well lit for work, and the bed was very comfortable. The only drawback was the noise from...

Check out the attached photos of my room, 502 -- it really was fantastic. Immense, comfortable, with a gas fireplace, high ceilings, huge windows, big wall-mounted TV, wet bar, gigantic shower, king-size bed, powerful A/C, and more. Since I last stayed here a few years back, the room decor has taken a big leap forward, and the same is true...

Absolutely amazing Hotel! We stayed in a corner Suite and we're very impressed. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is amazing. If you are planning a stay in downtown Des Moines, I would highly recommend this wonderful Hotel.

The Des Lux is a comfortable alternative to generic chain hotels, especially for business travelers downtown. Rooms vary a lot; most I saw are very large; mine was huge and had a working fireplace though it faced only an interior garden and was a bit dark. Furnishings are more quirky and interesting than the chains; some will like this more...

We stayed at the Des Lux Hotel while taking care of some family business in Des Moines the weekend of July 27-31. The front desk staff were charming and helpful with any questions we had. The room was huge and had high ceilings and a ceiling fan for added comfort. The bed and pillows were some of the most comfortable...

Probably the best overall hotel experience you can have in Des Moines. My room was large, bright (lots of natural light), with a good and accurate thermostat for personal comfort. (I like a cool room.) The breakfast provided is really first rate - a chef comes in to prepare omelets, plus the selection of pastries, fruit, bacon, and potatoes was...

The only thing wrong with our visit was that we could only stay one night. This hotel is lovely. It is privately owned, quiet and beautifully appointed. Breakfast was included. The king size suite was huge and included a giant bathroom, a wet bar, a fireplace and living area. Our son had a corner room with soaring ceilings and differently,...

What a wonderful hotel located in the heart of downtown Des Moines. Lovely lobby, spacious room, and modern bath. Breakfast was provided in a room a bit too small on one morning. Perhaps some seating should have been set up in an adjacent area to relieve the congestion. Parking was available (free on weekends) in the ramp across the street.
