I was going to America's River festival to see Cheap Trick and Reo Speedwagon. I booked through hotels.com and waited too long as Motel 6 was the only motel available on sat, june11.2016, the day i was to arrived at motel6, I rec'd a call from motel 6 telling me they had problems with my reservation and could they put me in a altenative motel which was the Glenview. I agreed as I was only looking for a place to sleep and shower. I arrived at the Glenview, check in was quick. it was a very hot and humid day with temps in mid 90's. the room was warm and i turned the air on immediatly, It was a very small rooom, I immediatly checked the sheets which were old and looked for bug which I did not find any. There was a blood spot on the wall which looked like someone smashed a bug and didn't bother to clean it up. There was a fridge and micorwave in a closet area, fridge didn't work plus there were extension cords running to a wall outlet which I wondered if that is even legal in a commercial property. there was some black mold on the ceiling tile and there was no toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom, just a roll of paper on the back of the toilet. The bathroom was clean, very small. the door lock was you held the door in to lock your door. I don't think the lock was very secure.I left, went to the concert and returned at 1am, 2 positives, i really thought there woulld be hookers or druggies around and there was no one. It was very quiet there and there were not any cars coming or going during the night. also no truck traffic or railroads near by. The air cont did work well, the room overall needed a good through cleaning and I got up Sun morning an left. Cheap motels do not have to be run down and I felt this place was somewhat run done. I would only stay here in an emergency, far nicer places to stay in the Dubuque area…
We stayed at this motel as a seemingly sweet getaway from the 2016 presidential campaign trail. As we drove to the glenview we passed a homeless man pushing a shopping cart on the highway. Yes, this same man stayed at the room next to us. This motel wasn't even worth the $35 that I paid due to complete negligence over basic services and levels of cleanliness deemed basic by society. I'm not sure if it was the Cigarette burns in the sheets, blood on the towels, or thoughts of what was going on in the room next to us, that compelled me the write this review.
stayed over night ===in July 2015. The wi fi did not work the bed was to small for 2 people the room had old sheets and bedspread. The room was musty. microwave and fridge to close in closet Shower was really small
Incredibly rude manager. I arrived at 11pm and, after saying that I wanted a room, I asked to see the room before I paid. I was travelling alone and wanted to be sure the space was safe with a secure door. I did not say this to him. The manager (owner?) said he wasn't going to show me anything, I could just keep driving and find someplace else. I thought I misunderstood him, but he repeated it. FWIW I'm a middle aged woman wearing capris and a beekeeping t-shirt, there was no chance he thought I was renting it by the hour. He claimed he was already in his shorts (athletic type), and wasn't going out. My advice is to take his advice - keep driving.
We stopped here for a quick overnight stay during a long drive because the map showed it was right off the highway. We thought "it can't be that bad"...but it was awful. The woman at the desk scowled the entire time and was very terse, actually rude. When we pulled up to our room there was a questionable man sitting in a truck waiting for??? (he was there at least 15 minutes while we checked in and moved our things into our room) Our room was non-smoking but smelled terrible. There were cigarette burns in the blanket on one bed and sheet on the other bed (see photos). The bed-side table had something sticky-gloppy on it that hadn't been wiped off. The lamp was broken and stained on the top, inside and outside (see photos). Mattresses both bowed in. We left 5 hours after we checked in and never showered. Towels were worse than my rags at home. When we checked in they had a sign that said if we decided not to stay we had to tell them within 10 minutes. Should have paid attention to that sign!…
