No soap available in guest rooms.. Was told it was on back order and no solution provided. Totally not acceptable from a health and sanitary standpoint. I have never stayed in a hotel without soap supplied. Makes me question what other health codes are bypassed? I am truly disappointed in my experience and although this is my “go to” hotel when in town, I will think hard before booking a stay here again.

So far so good! Very Clean and also so conveniently close to the mall and food spots. This hotel was able to accommodate us 1 day before we were scheduled. Good thing b/c if they could not we had to find another hotel. That means alot to customers from out of town. We drove 16 hours, so the accommodations were so refreshing. Thanks Dubuque, IA Hampton Inn. You really care about your customers.

When I went to go to sleep, I noticed that I had dog hair all over my pj’s. Thinking maybe the coverlet had some dog hair, I took it off. Then when I went to go to sleep, I noticed that the sheet was covered in dog hair! Manager did let us switch rooms , and also offered me a water for our trouble. Next room did not have bar soap, so had to get one & toilet seat was not clean, but i had wipes & cleaned it myself.

Dog in room on 2nd floor barked at 9:45, 12:43, and 12:57. We were woken up each time and nothing was done about it. I called to the front desk at 9:45 and reported it only to be asked which room it was coming from. How was I to tell? hey has records of which room had been rented to dog owners. There could not have been that many to figure out.

Came here for one night on a Saturday. Check in was smooth. Our room was clean and a good size. The hotel is located near many stores and restaurants and right off the main road. Breakfast was better than other hotels. The bakery items were particularly good. Would recommend.

Needed a reasonable hotel for a quick overnight stay. Very clean, nice breakfast with plenty of choices, friendly staff, pool and workout area. Would definitely stay here again! Bonus Target is next door lots of shopping and food options!

This is a nice hotel. We had requested connecting rooms with two different reservations. They said they'd try before we arrived, but indeed they were connected when we got there. The rooms had everything we needed. They were clean and big enough for what we needed. The pool and hot tub were nice sized and we had them to ourselves on a Saturday night. The breakfast was amazing. There were so many choices and there was plenty of food. Some of us went down at 6 and others at 9:30 and it was the same selection.

Hampton inn is our primary hotel of choice when doing long trips (4th cross country). This one was close to a lot of shops (Walmart/Target/coffee shops etc). The room was clean and comfortable. This HI had one of the better breakfast options. Besides the usual eggs/waffles/cereal there were healthier options with whole wheat bagels and bread. There were also full size Danish’s and different types of loafs(poppyseed, lemon,banana). Staff were friendly and helpful. I give this one an “A”.

This hotel was such a surprise to me. It is great in every way. First, Carolyn at the desk greeted me so warmly and openly that I felt at home from the minute I walked in (everyone at the desk was lovely, but she was particularly warm - she made me feel so welcome!). The room was tidy and organized, the bathroom was shiny and clean and the I loved that the TV said "Welcome with my name on it". It's personal and a sweet detail. There is a microwave in every room, an open, clean fridge that kept my trip snacks fresh and nice amenities in the bathroom. It was as nice as any hotel I have stayed in. Breakfast was ample and fresh with great variety. All the tables were wonderfully clean and in a great surprise - they have absolutely delicious coffee! Better than any hotel I've visited some much more upscale! One note: I did notice the bathroom needed additional mopping and I went to the front desk to mention it. They sent someone to clean immediately and told the manager while was standing there. I look forward to another stay at this hotel. Thank you to Carolyn and all the others that were so kind and welcoming.

The Hampton hotel advertises that breakfast is included with your stay at the hotel. However, the hotel ran out of food at 9:15 a.m. the morning of the 18th. They advertised they serve breakfast till 10:00 a.m. on the weekends. This of course did not sit well with many of the guests wanting to avoid leaving the hotel that had slept in. I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Dubuque on September 17th, and checked out the morning of the 18th.This review is largely based on my interactions with the management at the hotel. The rooms were reasonably clean. The beds were reasonably comfortable. I don't give points to a hotel for these reasons because, I expect these two things to be provided to me at $240.00 a night. The reason for the low score is the staff at the hotel. I had multiple interactions with the staff. None of them went well. I asked prior to booking the room if the hotel was full. I was told that the hotel was running at about 60% for the night of the 17th. I found out once I arrived that the hotel was completely full and had three large groups of kids staying at the hotel that night. This is a scenario I try to avoid on every occasion. When I brought this up to the front desk, I stated that I would not have booked the room if she (same women) had been upfront with me about their full capacity. The women looked at me, nodded and said she "understood". However she had no offer to refund me or, let me out of the booking. She just “understood”. The volume of the hotel that night was what you would expect with three large groups of kids. I don’t blame the kids, their after all – kids. I blame her lack of being upfront when I made my original call to the hotel. When I saw her in the lobby, she stated how crazy it was that night at the hotel. This was around 10:40. Her shift ended at 11:00. I stated that I hoped I would be able to get some sleep that night. She nodded and said – “I understand”, this time with a little smirk. I’m guessing because her shift ended at 11:00. So, we wake up in the morning and eat breakfast around 7:00. My two youngest kids went swimming prior to eating breakfast due to the fact they couldn’t go the night before. The pool area was so full you could barely get in the pool area, let alone the water. My oldest slept in because he couldn’t sleep due to how loud the hotel was the night before. When he finally got up and went to breakfast, he discovered along with the rest of the hotel residents that were standing in the breakfast area that the hotel was out of food. The management failed to place a food order large enough to accommodate for a group they knew would be at the hotel on this morning. The three groups would have booked their rooms weeks, if not a month prior to their stay. The hotels job is to take care of the guests of the hotel while they’re staying, and paying them to do so. There was no offer to refund or correct the situation in any way. Just the nodding and saying “I understand”. I want to be clear about this review. If the front desk had done their job, all of this was avoidable. I personally am in charge of several people during the day. I would only tell someone to have empathy for a situation until it is corrected. Empathy is not the solve, it’s what you get until you have a solution. Nodding your head and saying you understand only works when #1 your not responsible for the situation and #2, you have a solution to the problem. Somehow in America, we’ve become accepting of this behavior as a solution. The women at the front desk when we checked in in the afternoon was the same one working the morning shift after the third shift left in the morning. Her puppet response of nodding and saying “I understand” needs to be followed by “Here’s what we’re going to do to fix this problem”. Unfortunately, the follow through at this Hampton never happened. For about fifty dollars more, the Hotel Julien looks like a great stop. One I’ll be trying the next time. I’m sure this review might not make a bit of difference to the staff so, I’m planning on sending it to the general manager of the hotel along with corporate offices. I realize I might get someone nodding and saying “I understand” but, I hope service is not completely dead in America. Thanks for reading my review.
