Like so many reviews, the outside is very run down. We stayed here for one night on a holiday weekend, so our choices were very limited. I would not have stayed here if Grand Harbor next to Diamond Jo's was available, since we were here to gamble.
My first issue is that we were given a room on the 2nd flr and there are not any elevators. So be prepared to climb stairs.
Next, when we opened the door to the room, the over powering smell of cleaner was so bad that we had to leave the door open. I guess it is better than cig smoke. The room is straight out of the 70's and the bed was too hard for me. I think one of the easiest things they could do to update the room would be to purchase new bedspreads. No one wants those old polyester bedspreads.
For the positives the staff were very friendly. The complimentary breakfast is a brown paper bag with snack items and a bottle of water, of course due to covid.
The bar and outside sitting area were nice. Bottom line I would not stay here again.

Dude. The setup of this place is so sick, it's nestled in under a cliff overhanging most of the hotel. The rooms on the south side face the highway below and the north side are tucked in under the massive wall of rock. There's a bar where drinking folks seemed to be ignoring the pandemic completely. A lot of mini-gatherings outside of individual rooms as well. My partner and I were eyed suspiciously, I suppose because of our masks?

We had a problem with the hotel wifi not working, and the front desk was pretty unhelpful. They kept saying that it wasn't working that good in our corner of the hotel, without offering to move us. Eventually after several calls to the front desk I insisted on a room transfer and it was granted. When we got to the new room the wifi worked, sort of. Anyway if internet is something you really need in your room (as we did that night), maybe think twice about staying here, or make sure you're staying in a part of the hotel where the signal is strong.

All that said, the atmosphere was so unique I would definitely stop by again, hopefully when there's no pandemic.

Oh, another fun detail. Like many hotels, because of Covid they were advertising a "to go" breakfast bag in lieu of the traditional breakfast buffet. When I came by in the morning to pick up a bag, I was offered one of those little boxes of Froot Loops that come in the variety pack. The clerk said if I wanted milk it was in the next room. In the next room was a big bowl full of plastic bottles of milk and orange juice floating in ice water, and a few soggy boxes of Girl Scout Cookies. We wound up going out for breakfast instead.

The staff was not friendly. They obviously were not happy with patrons with pets, even though this is the one reason I booked there. Traveling with my dog as we had an event in Dubuque. The room was outdated and dingy. Not very clean. Cracked sink. I did not have room service come in since I had my dog and asked the cleaning attendants for new trash bags and they seemed bothered by me asking. Breakfast was nothing more than pre-packaged muffins/granola bars. Coffee was not good at all. Noisy people coming and going.

I visited Dubuque this weekend and had an overnight stay here. The hotel advertised a pool, but I was unable to find one. The hotel also advertised wi-fi, but that was not available either. Upon entering my room I was greeted by the strong stench of Marijuana. The room was clean. I removed the blankets to inspect the bed, and a steak knife fell out of the comforter. The bed otherwise was clean and comfortable. I called the front desk to report the smell and housekeeping promptly came to freshen my room. She was very kind. At checkout we picked up our bagged breakfast, which was filled with sugar laden items (I am diabetic), a bottle of grape juice, a fruit cup, a nutrigrain bar, a granola bar, and a sweet and salty mixed nut and candy bag, but was still appreciated. Water in shower was strong and hot. Hotel has long term guests too, but there were no issues of noise, and everyone was kind. I turned in the knife at checkout, but staff had nothing to say about it.

The room was good in insulating outside noise. There was a bar & grille next to front desk and it had live music on Saturday night. My room's WiFi signal was not stable and slow, even though it's only less than 50% rooms occupied.

Due to COVID-19, this hotel didn't provide its regular sit-in breakfast. A to-go bag was prepared at the front desk upon request.

I’ll be honest the 4 is for the vibe and the staff, not so much for the room itself. The room felt like it was out of an 80’s time warp, right down to the wood grain alarm clock and beer bottle opener on the wall. I don’t recall ever being to a Days Inn that had such a cool bar though. The bartenders were super cool and the patio was hopping. I honestly was not expecting to have such a good time, as we were just passing through town on the way to Milwaukee. After driving 1,000 miles from the South, it was nice to feel the Midwest hospitality. We’ll probably stay here again next time swinging through town.

We stayed here just this weekend. I wasn’t expecting much but we had a great stay. Air conditioning was cold, great hot shower with strong water pressure. Bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the pool on the hot humid august day. Motel was in a great location off the highway. No complaints at all.

A friend and I got a room for one night as we were in town for a concert. Check in/out was a quick and easy process. We were informed that the bar/grill was open until 2 am (food served until Midnight) and they were having live music as well. That was a cool surprise, but unfortunately we didn't get a chance to partake since we already had plans for the evening.
I wouldn't say our room was "dirty", but definitely aged/outdated enough to make you a little leary. The toilet/shower area (room) seemed clean, but again very "used" looking. We didn't use the shower or take advantage of the continental breakfast so can't comment on that. One thing that was a bit of an inconvenience was the limited access to the upper level rooms. There are only a couple staircases to get to the upper deck rooms. We parked our car close to our room so we could keep an eye on it, but then we had to walk a ways down the building (lugging all of our bags/cooler) to the nearest staircase, then back the way we had come from once we reached the upper level. Definitely wasn't a deal breaker, but an inconvenience, especially since it was COLD outside and all access is outdoors. It was definitely a decent place to stay, especially for the price. I would definitely stay there again for another short/overnight trip.

My rooms weren't adjoining like I was told they would be upon reservation. I was very disappointed about the brown bag breakfast I was given and so was my daughter. The pool was loud and had a big crowd that appeared very intoxicated from visiting the lounge and then the pool afterwards. That probably shouldn't be allowed or should be monitored in a better way so it is a more family friendly environment and the pool was the main reason I booked this location for my family. And since it didn't open until 10 am I never got to use it at all since check-out was at 11....

They need to move all the long staying people to one side. The rooms were old with bugs crawling on the wall and in my bed. When they cleaned the room they only took out trash and clean towels, they did not clean my room.
