The room in the Stables was small but very cozy. They allow dogs which was the main reason i chose this place. The lication was quiet and scenic. Wide open area to walk my dog, had a nice view of Winnebago River, walking bridge, very peaceful.

We stayed one Sunday night. In area to pick up RV. Website info just plain wrong. Lobby area under construction and NO food on Sunday and only room service otherwise. Room tired but clean. Receptionist when we arrive was a real zero. Really. Evening help seemed normal and pleasant. We didn't have great expectations for a continental breakfast, but this... More

This used to be a special place for dinner but its way past its prime. I knew this when I booked my daughter & family there for 3 days due to a family death. It was close/convenient and the two room "suite" worked for a family. The positives end there. Front desk reception/hospitality was less than zero, not even a... More

There was NO restaurant as mentioned. Room was very dirty!! Food by microwave & carpet was terrible with grease, etc. Front desk employee totally brain dead; not even a hello. Bed UNCOMFORTABLE--hard as a rock as were the pillows also.

Had a two day seminar in Forest City. Was offered a special rate through work but all the rooms were taken. I was upgraded for additional cost to a suite. Wow. It was nice. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and well worth the cost. The Lodge is older but very well maintained. The Lodge has an onsite restaurant that operates M-Sat... More

We booked this hotel back in June for a stay in August. The room was booked via Hotwire. When we arrived to the hotel, they wanted to charge us again for the booking. We explained that we already paid via Hotwire. They proceeded to tell us that they have had lots of issues getting reimbursed from Hotwire so we needed... More

Our stay at The Lodge was very pleasant, and we had no idea our time in Forest City would be in such a beautiful place. We got a room in the 'stables', with our own patio looking over huge trees and the local squirrels and rabbits playing on the lawn. Our room was cozy, clean and super quiet. No need... More

Stayed here two nights on a family visit to nearby towns. Our son and daughter-in-law were bringing their new baby back to Iowa to introduce him to family and we booked two king sized suites at The Lodge. The suites were perfect for housing all of the equipment necessary for traveling with a baby - enough room to move around... More

The ONLY thing that would make staying here a better experience would be a hot breakfast! Otherwise, we love, love, love staying here! Haven't experienced it except during winter (yet) but the grounds are just gorgeous. We've stayed twice and loved both times. The patios are icing on the cake. I couldn't recommend a hotel more than "The Lodge".

Byron is an excellent host, as well as the staff. Lodge is a little dated but cozy with a great lodge feel and maintained to be very clean. Food is great and would not hesitate in staying here again. Would like to stay in the summer time, with a better chance to experience the on site golf course and take... More
