Stayed a couple of weeks ago whilst climbing, paid an extra £20 each for a private room with en suite and it was definitely worth it. We had a hot shower which was lovely, and peace and quiet so we could sleep when we wanted to. Also the room heater came on from 8pm so we were toasty warm all...

I have nothing but fond memories of this place despite the barest needs provided; after trudging for hours in the rain, wet and cold, this place is heaven ! Hot tea and meals and a place to rest your tired body, what else could you ask for ? Yes, there is no hot water for bathing but who cares ?...

I don't normally post reviews but think it's fair to warn other travellers: it seems the staff have a problem with theft here... The accommodation itself was pretty good - as others have mentioned there is no hot water... They have signs about that say not to leave any valuables about, as do most hostels in Asia but I was...

it's located at 3000 meter, base camp of Mt Kinabalu peak, and what people expecting? A bed, a cabin to block the sun/rain/wind, water & food to keep u alive... I'm very proud they really make this place great! As i seen many bad comments about here without hot water, complaints about the food, complaints about the bed, complaints about...

Choices for where to stay midway up the mountain are limited to say the least - basically you're stuck with Laban Rata run by Sutera Lodges unless you fancy trekking up and down in one day which means you're likely to run into the fog and rain that clouds Low's Peak during the day and miss out on the spectacular...

I stayed at the Pendant Hut during my climb up Mount Kinabalu but spent some time resting at Laban Rata. Also I don't think that the sleeping facilities at the Laban Rata is that different from the Pendant Hut. I saw commments about the lack of hot water, thin walls and uncomfortable beds, etc. I don't think I'm the first...

I cannot rave much about the dormitory but having note the literal hard work by staff in maintaining the rooms, I have no complains. It's decent. If you are overly obsessed with cleanliness like me, it'll be good to bring a lightweight sleeping bag. It gets pretty noisy at night for both times that I've stayed there. Hikers love chatting...

We did our climb last March 15, 2014 and it was raining all throughout the day so imagine our relief upon finally reaching Laban Rata. The lodging offers simple dormitory beds and warm buffet-style meals at 11,000 feet. Once you think about the logistics of pulling this off, and actually witness porters carrying food supplies and cooking gas tanks on...

After the frustration felt by all about having to shell out such a fee for simple lodgings to achieve the climb it is a RELIEF that the accommodation and food is pretty decent. There is plenty of food, more than enough, and all very fresh and cooked on site. Huge vats of local coffee are popular with everyone. The view...
