This camp is quite a journey along a dirt track from Ankarana which, on the first trip warrants "are we nearly there yet" for about an hour. However, the camp is situated in a stunning location looking out at the Massif and overlooking a lake where the locals fish. The huts are simple, clean and nicely furnished, my first thought...

Not sure what i was expecting from a bush camp but was pleasantly surprised. Had a warm welcome from Cedric and welcome drink overlooking the lake and Tsingy - spotting a panther chameleon on a bush. The location is stunning. The accommodation consisted of a solid hut with palm roof and minimalist african decor. The comfortable bed was situated up...

The position of the Bush Camp overlooking a lake and limestone "Tzingy" close to the Ankarana Special Reserve is absolutely fantastic. There are lots of exciting walks possible from the camp and safe and well-designed "via ferata" have been constructed over the massive limestone outcrops to allow access to some superb views out to the Mozambique channel and the chance...

We stayed here for 3 nights during our honeymoon. We arrived late at night and we were still met with excellent service and a delicious meal. Given the remoteness of the location, the facilities were excellent with great mosquito nets (not everywhere we stayed had great ones!) and warm showers. The food every night was delicious with an opportunity to...

We appreciate that this is a bush camp in remote surroundings, but it is held out as luxurious, and to be frank it was far from that. The accommodation is not well designed, the shower flooded the rest of the room and was not designed to drain properly. We did not appreciate the huts being completely open in some places....

We were supposed to be staying at Ankarana Lodge but at the last minute our itinerary was changed to Iharana and we were so glad it was. The bush camp is situated on a lake with views across to the tsingy - just the perfect setting. The camp is very eco friendly and the lodges are comfortable with everything you...

From the minute we arrived all the staff tried their very best to ensure our stay was a complete joy. They are committed to the local community and run a service orientated, very relaxed but good quality camp. The chalets are an experience , but a great one at that and the views are simply stunning. It was my daughter's...

I visited Iharana one month ago and I am still stunned by this great experience. Camp and location: It is situated in the middle of nowhere, just next to a beautiful lake and the Tsingy in the background, as well as some tiny villages in the proximity. The huts in which guests sleep are individually decorated and charming, while still...

Stayed there as a couple in October 2015 for 2 nights and loved it! The place is beautiful and wild, the camp's staff so friendly and the food - oh my god - fine dining! We will never forget this place and hope to be back. Have a massage with a view on the lake and the extras this place...

Deceptively simple bungalows from outside but come with very hot showers ad big fluffy towels. Comfortable with great views of the lake and Tsingy. Professional staff. knock out cocktails, tasty simple food and its own security force looks after you. Excellent safari style lounge area although sadly the swimming pool was not in use when we were there. I would...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A bush camp in the heart of an exceptional wildlifeIharana Bush Camp is the most unusual bush camp of Madagascar: the canvas tents have been replaced by beautiful natural structures that are totally integrated inside the landscape. The rooms are actually cottages or « cabanas ». The organic architecture is inspired by traditional Malagasy « architecture »: ochre and laterite walls made of earth, roofs made of satrana, (a sort of palm tree locally and traditionally used for house building), and the partitions are all made in vegetal materials such as wood, roots, lianas and granite. The mix of these materials gives a very original character to the camp, so that it is in total harmony with its environment. Each cottage is equipped with private bathroom and toilets (cold water). A mezzanine welcomes the sleeping area where we have a nice bed made of round wood and covered with a mosquito net. The mezzanine is open to one of the sides of the bungalow, which allows for admiring starry skies at night. ... more   less
