The hotel is inside the Akagera National Park;hence quite an appropriate location. One of the huge trees in the hotel location is loaded with wild baboons, the other tree near the reception has a colony of weaver birds. The rooms are quite comfortable as is expected in wilderness f the national park. The pool is more of a water hole. The breakfast has...

The "average" note only concerns the quality of the room. Bathroom not clean and toilet doesn't work properly. But the staff is great, the service more than good, and the Buffet nice as well. I definitely recommend it for families and people who don't want to camp.

Stayed in Akagera Game Lodge for a few days while visiting the game park. Decidedly run down but still full of charm and perfectly comfortable. The pool is great - even saw baboons and warthogs while swimming. Food was good, even if evening buffet was hugely over-priced. All in all, a good place to stay with the family while visiting...

At best Akagera Game Lodge is a bad 3 star. Our welcome was luke warm, with the staff watching on as we struggled to get our bags from the car. The check in took long, and the room was very basic. The bed was ok, but the pillows so hard that my neck still hurts from alternating between using the...

A lovely place to stay in Akagera, clean and comfortable with nice views and a climbing frame and a pool (which is quite cold!) The baboons roam freely around but didn't cause any problems. They have a buffet breakfast for about 6,000rwf which is great. They also have a couple of clay tennis courts next to the car park.

Other than campsites the only accommodation available in the park close to the entrance and providing a good base. Gradually being improved it has a pool and tennis courts but is let down by the quality of the restaurant where wider competition could lead to improvements - a tasteless and tepid beef curry and rock hard burger bun two examples...

Wonderfull views, a refreshing pools and decent rooms that need some repairs sometimes. Very interesting architecture, fifties style although the memorial plate in the lobby tells you that the hotel was inaugurated in 2003 or so. Few visitors, excellent staff. A special experience.

We arrived after our second week in Uganda and Rwanda so were ecstatic to arrive at this beautiful place. Rooms were clean, new, well maintained, well decorated. Service and food was excellent. The Lodge is located within the park which is so convenient. I will go back.

Most people know about the Rwandan Mountain Gorilla tours when Akagera reserve is lately left aside of foreign tourist interest. A piece of nature saved, restored and very well serving the tourists desire to feel the wildlife of Africa. Situated alongside the border of Rwanda with Tanzania and presenting to its visitor savannah, swampy land with lakes and small islands,...
