I am so going to have to stay here again. It was wonderful. Great atmosphere and truly a treasure. Enjoyed the little bar next door and the room was perfect. Seeing so much history turned into beauty was endearing.

We stayed in the Library Room for one night and it was great! The room was very comfortable and inviting. Paul gave us a wonderful breakfast in the morning and chatted about local history as we ate. The location is perfect for walking around town. In December it seems most businesses close around 4 so there wasn't a huge choice of...

This is such a unique place and town, words will not serve justice. The old jail is just as accommodating as Lisa (the warden) and Paul (owner). Walking distance to many local shopping and dining options, the old jail is a perfect B & B to relax, explore and learn. Lisa's Southern hospitality and great cooking will get your first...

A trip to bourbon country for the day - and we decided to stay the night. This place was recommended by a local. It sure beat any chain hotel. It was very old - but very clean for its age. A true historic landmark - no ghosts for us this time. Breakfast was hot and delis. Thanks for this surprisingly...

We had a fun time at jailer Inn. The first evening we sit outside and the employee tell us ghost stories and the history of Bardstown . Everyone around there is very friendly and helpful. My sister and mom and I laugh so hard. We had a great time. That nite we both experience ghost in our room.

Some friends recommended this bed and breakfast. We booked the suite, so our room was not in the jail. However, we did get a tour of the jail and saw the former jail cells that have been converted to rooms. It was a very comfortable place to stay. The owner was extremely accommodating. Breakfast each morning was very good. As...

A must to visit and a great place to stay! We loved the jail cell room. Breakfast was great, the owner is awesome! History behind the jail is cool, right in the middle of downtown, easy walk to some great restaurants.

We were fortunate enough to celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday in this special place. Three of my family stayed in the family suite, which was absolutely perfect for my mother-in-law. My husband & I stayed in an upstairs room the first night, then in the jail-cell room the next 2 nights. While small & a bit stuffy (thick walls &...

While visiting Bardstown we visited this place so we could tour the old jail. We didn't stay at the Inn because we weren't staying the night there, but after seeing the place we would definitely stay there in the future. It was very clean and the staff was friendly. The innkeeper gave us a tour of the jail and after...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Iron bars on windows, 30 inch thick limestone walls, and a heavy steel door slamming behind you may not sound like the typical tourist accommodation. However, Jailer's Inn is anything but typical. The historic Jailer's Inn, circa 1819, in the center of Bardstown, Kentucky offers a unique and luxurious way to "do time." Jailer's Inn is a place of wonderful, thought provoking contrasts. Each of our seven guest rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and heirlooms, and offer private bathrooms, some with a double Jacuzzi. All located in the renovated front jail, built in 1819. The back jail, built in 1874, is basically unchanged; you get a chilling, sobering look at former conditions in the old Nelson County jail used in full operation up until 1987. Catch a glimpse of life seldom seen in these two historic jails listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. On spring and summer mornings, as you sip hot coffee and chat with other guests over a full breakfast in the courtyard, it's difficult to imagine all of the previous uses of the courtyard, a place to visit forlorn relatives or even the centralized location of the Nelson County gallows. Come "do time" in jail and unlock an adventure in history. Whether you sleep in the elegant Victorian Room, rest and read in the Library Room or enjoy the peaceful setting of the Garden Room, it will be a "captivating experience." ... more   less
