We stayed in the family suite and it was great. The master bed was very comfortable and we slept great. Food at breakfast was lovely and Paul was a pleasure and worked hard to accommodate his guests. Excellent location and a short walk from central Bardstown.

This is a fun , creepy place to stay once. It's an actual jail. Rooms are nice , beds are comfortable, and owner is super friendly. Location is great , right in center of downtown. Walked to a beer bar a block away and Bourbon Bar right next door. Creepy comes in to the place is haunted. They hung prisoners...

Spent two nights at the Jailer's Inn B&B and it was just wonderful. The innkeeper, Paul, was extremely helpful, friendly, approachable right from the start, happy to provide information about the local area, what to see, where to go and great tips on restaurants for fantastic food! We stayed in the Victorian room of the Jail, and it was just...

I was worried when i first booked this place thinking that it might smell to musty or be run down, but i was totally wrong. It turned out great, and Paul, the owner, was more than kind and very helpful with all of our planning here in Bardstown. The town itself is so cute and very clean. The only down...

We stayed in the 2-bedroom suite which would be great for a family with a bunch of kids as the bedrooms can be "linked" by opening a double door. There is a nice sitting area with a large TV. The owner, Paul, serves breakfast at 8:30 and gives the guests a tour afterwards. Breakfast was small, but good and Paul...

My wife and I stayed at the Jailer's Inn while attending a family wedding. The inn was full except for the Jail Cell Room. We thought this would be unique and it was. My review reflects our stay in that particular room. The room is a converted honest-to-God jail cell that was used until 1987 as the cell for female...

We didn't stay here but stopped in for a tour because we had heard about it. There was a beautiful open parlor with staircase in the front room. It definitely takes you back in time with the 30-inch thick stone walls and even more so in the jail in the back which was very cool! I got some great photos...

We stayed in the Garden Room for 5 nights while we toured the Bourbon Distilleries and had one of the most relaxing stays. The Inn is faithful in its decor and travellers expecting clinical modern hotel rooms would probably not enjoy. The experience we had with the hospitality and comfort of the rooms has left a lasting positive impression. Well...

The Jailer's Inn is quirky, and not for the traveler who thinks that a generic motel is a perfect place to sleep. The rooms differ, but all are fun to stay in. Paul is a gracious host, and his breakfasts are a great start to the day. This is also the rare B and B that welcomes children, and is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Iron bars on windows, 30 inch thick limestone walls, and a heavy steel door slamming behind you may not sound like the typical tourist accommodation. However, Jailer's Inn is anything but typical. The historic Jailer's Inn, circa 1819, in the center of Bardstown, Kentucky offers a unique and luxurious way to "do time." Jailer's Inn is a place of wonderful, thought provoking contrasts. Each of our seven guest rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and heirlooms, and offer private bathrooms, some with a double Jacuzzi. All located in the renovated front jail, built in 1819. The back jail, built in 1874, is basically unchanged; you get a chilling, sobering look at former conditions in the old Nelson County jail used in full operation up until 1987. Catch a glimpse of life seldom seen in these two historic jails listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. On spring and summer mornings, as you sip hot coffee and chat with other guests over a full breakfast in the courtyard, it's difficult to imagine all of the previous uses of the courtyard, a place to visit forlorn relatives or even the centralized location of the Nelson County gallows. Come "do time" in jail and unlock an adventure in history. Whether you sleep in the elegant Victorian Room, rest and read in the Library Room or enjoy the peaceful setting of the Garden Room, it will be a "captivating experience." ... more   less
