This venue had the potential of being an excellent stay but was let down by what to us was a significant event of very poor service at our last breakfast and a couple of other incidents that spoilt what could have been a perfect stay. The facility requires that residents agree a time for breakfast. Having agreed a time for our first breakfast later in the evening we were asked to bring the time forward by half an hour. On our last morning we turned up at the agreed time to find that all the other residents turned up at the same time of 9.00 am. It was not until after 9.40 am that our breakfast was served and unfortunately was not what was ordered requiring an even further delay. Even then we were not supplied with toast and there was a further delay before this was corrected. What was more disappointing was the lack of an apology. Other concerns were that when we went to pay for an evening meal there was an attempt to overcharge by exactly £30. Again no explanation or apology when a challenge was made to the overcharge. No detailed bill was supplied. Whilst our room was serviced on two of the days of our stay on one day it was not and no explanation given.

Stayed with friendfri evening, room was very clean, bed comfy and warm. Good cooked breakfast and service. Also had dinner in restaurant nice pub grub! Had a nice stay and reasonable cost too. Would stay again. Although the room was a little old fashioned it was cosy. The area around the pub rural and pretty.

Very good food, very friendly service, excellent value for money. Foid arrives on hot plates, often over looked. Vegetables served in dish for table. The whitebait is truly a treat. Five people very well fed and watered for less than 20 pounds each.

During our stay we ate two breakfasts and two dinners and the food was excellent on each occasion. Well cooked and presented at reasonable prices. The service was also top class with all the staff being friendly, helpful and polite. Nothing was too much trouble.

My partner and I, visited this pub after seeing the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. When we arrived we sat in the garden . I went to order some drinks and get a food menu. The Barman kindly offered to bring a bowl of water for our dog and take our order. We both decided to go for the Ploughman's lunch with hot sausages. When it arrived it consisted of 2 sausages, half a part-baked baguette (that you buy in a supermaket and stick in the oven for 10 minutes), a bit of salad and a dollop of pickle. The price. £8.50 each. Strangely, I could have ordered a sausage baguette, CHIPS and a salad for £7.75. When I queried this with the landlady (who had been tipped off prior by, I assume a local) I was made to feel that i was out of order for raising it as an issue. She said that I should have had a WHOLE baguette and not half of one and shoved £5 in my hand by way of recompense. No apology, very abrupt and in my opinion, rude . Needless to say, we won't be going back again.

We stayed in the white horse for two nights, what a great reception we got when booking into our room. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We arrived at 1.30pm lunch was until 2pm so we had lunch, wow the food was great.we had dinner on both nights as well. The full English breakfast on both mornings what is cooked to perfection. The room was spotlessly clean and very spacious, two bottles of water and tea making facilities was a nice touch. Will definitely be going back soon.

Lovely stay, warm welcome, comfy room, safe motorcycle parking. Stayed on a Friday evening, pub wasn’t overly crowded and although the rooms overlook the beer garden, it was all quiet by 9pm. Dinner was quick and simple pub grub, with polite service. Everyone wants to make sure you’re happy and seem to. Room 1 is adequate and comfortable with all the amenities you’d expect, and slightly quieter than the other rooms although you hear a little traffic outside. Breakfast was a full English with cereals and fruit and was perfect. Top service. Would stay here again.

I haven’t been to the white horse for a meal for a long while and went in for lunch with my 22 month old daughter, and I couldn’t have been greeted more warmly. The young man behind the bar is a credit to you as is the lovely lady who chatted to my daughter and brought her books while we waited for our food. And the food was fantastic. We both had the toad in the hole which had proper homemade Yorkshire puddings, quality sausages and lovely mash and veg. Plus the gravy was great. And the sticky toffee cheesecake was fantastic. Good home cooked food, served with a smile. Will most defiantly be going back and supporting my local pub. Well done to all involved in making our visit one to remember.

Went in today for a Groupon deal. Fantastic food, felt very safe at all times. One of the best meals we have ever had. Was just the right amount of food was not too much. Well worth the money we paid for the 2 course meal.
