Really great place to stay with our small five person cycling group. Beds were extremely comfortable and having a ceiling fan and AC kept the temps perfect for relaxing or sleeping. We didn’t have time to check out the restaurant Richard runs but our hot breakfast was wonderful. Location was in very quiet area with great old trees on the property. Would definitely stay here again.
Sunday brunch this morning. All the salad fixings were super fresh; the homemade dressings were first class. Each breakfast choice was obviously prepared by a chef of talent and training. Flavors just jumped! The Woodford Chicken, green beans, etc. were also something to talk about. Desert portions were perfect and once again bordering on spectacular. If you are within 30 miles of Versailles and you don't make it here for brunch, it's on you.
The Woodford Inn is a wonderful B&B with the one secret, it also has a full restaurant and bar! The food was wonderful. We had dinner the first night there. Laura and Richard were wonderful hosts and we spent a lot of time talking to them and getting a feel for the history of the place. The rooms were very nice and the amenities were perfect. The Inn is close to a number of distilleries and great countryside. Highly recommended for any traveler to Versailles, KY.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Richard and Laura at The Woodford Inn! This talented couple took over this historic former orphanage for girls about a year ago. They are already making themselves indispensable to the community and the weary traveler. Unlike most bed and breakfast establishments, the Woodford offers a full-service restaurant and bar, both of which we really enjoyed. Bartender Christa was invaluable with visitor tips and great drinks. Breakfast is a hot buffet and self-serve cereal, breads and yogurt. Reserve ahead for dinner in the full service dining room, where local favorites like burgoo are available. Our bed in room 2 was very comfortable, and Laura's curated art prints throughout the Inn are outstanding. The inn is right next to a lovely park, and set back off the main road, so there's no road noise like so many other establishments. There is much to see around Versailles, and we enjoyed dinner in nearby Midway as well. We attended the races at Keeneland, and weren't sure what to expect, but we really enjoyed our day there. Thank you Richard and Laura for preserving this historic property for the enjoyment of all!…
Currently on day two of a two night stay. Arrived yesterday afternoon right before a snowstorm. Laura greeted us and got us checked in to our room. My wife’s hands were full, so Laura actually carried her suitcase upstairs to save me a trip. My wife and I watched the Chiefs beat Pittsburgh while sitting in the bar area. I highly recommend one of Laura’s Woodford Old Fashioned. My spouse really liked Laura’s Honey-crisp Apple Martini. The meal we ordered was excellent. Pictures attached. Later we indulged in cheesecake. Richard and Laura definitely have a passion for the guest. This is not a big chain hotel, but a bed and breakfast, and restaurant ran by caring people. Huge change of pace if you are looking for something different. If you are they type of person that shows up to a hotel, and then spends all waking moments shut in the room, then you might find the room a little lacking (TV size, desk space). I need to find a reason to return to this part of Kentucky so I can stay again.…
Looks, smells, and tastes as a quality establishment should. Staff is professional, welcoming, and well-informed. Very good array of menu choices. A cup of "Grandma's Burgoo" was hot and very tasty. The ribeye was perfectly cooked, as was the baked potato. Green beans with carmelized onions were excellent. My companion had a dinner salad that was large enough for at least two meals.
The new owners of The Woodford Inn are amazing! They were friendly and knowledgeable. We appreciated their help in finding local wineries and distilleries on our trip on the Bourbon Trail. We had an excellent stay in this beautiful property. Our room was spacious. We slept like babies in the comfortable bed. We enjoyed our evening rocking on the beautiful front porch. Our trip ended with a wonderful breakfast. We appreciate everything that the property had to offer. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here!
I would have never checked out this business if I didn’t use Trip Advisor because the business website is a terrible representation. I would definitely check this out after seeing the presentation here.
My husband and I have stayed here twice and both times were great. The innkeeper Sammi made us feel very welcome and Richard and Nicole, the chefs, made us the most amazing appetizer, dinner, dessert and breakfast we have ever had. The rooms are comfortable and there is a front porch which is very relaxing. Highly recommend staying here.
Had a great stay, staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and it was quiet and way less hectic than staying at a regular hotel in a populated area. Located right in the heart of town with and easy drive to Keenland and Lexington.
