My boyfriend and I stayed here last summer, and wanted to come online to reiterate what a wonderful and rare place Betty's is, and something definitely not to be missed. Just reading reviews below, while there are signs of industry in the area, these aren't a strong feature and the overriding impression is of bayous, swamp and woodland. The cabins...

Have to review as other reviews are ridiculously generous. I agree Betty is charming (although she doesn't welcome you) and she booked a great airboat swamp tour for us but the cabins are really grotty and the location is not as remote as implied, in a semi industrial area with a lot of noise which destroys the rural illusion. Bring...

It's been a couple of years since we went but I think about it often. I really enjoyed our stay and really want to go back. Our hosts were great. Vernon is Cajun all the way down to his bones and I really enjoyed listening to him talk about his youth and the history of the Cajun people. He told...

I spent a fantastic night here to break the journey from Houston to New Orleans. If what you're expecting (as I was) is a cabin in the middle of the swamp then yo won't be disappointed. The other couple staying there at the same time as me commented that their cabin was "a bit basic" - I'm not sure what...

Anyone travelling through Louisiana should be ashamed if they don't spend a few nights at Betty's. This really is a magical place, and a rare gem in a world of uniform botique guesthouses - this is the authentic experience of what life in the bayous is really all about. The cabins are set well apart down boardwalks through thick swamp...

We stayed the night in one of the cabins. It was a unique experience as the cabins are right over the swamp. At night you could hear the frogs singing. The cabins were very clean and the air conditioning cool. The next morning you are greeted by the owners Betty and Vernon where you are served a good breakfast and...

The cabins are fantastic, basic but full of character. Sat out in the porch (behind the essential mosquito screen!) at night on the rocking chairs sipping some bourbon and enjoying the sounds of the swamp at night. Betty is a lovely host with so many stories to tell, there is a great communial breakfast room where you meet the other...

The hosts, Betty and Vernon, couldn't have been nicer - knowledgeable, accomodating and friendly. And the guided tour thru the grounds! Wow! Giant - 230 lb.- turtle! 13+ feet alligators, huge cypresses, iris, snakes chasing one another in the shallow bayou - only a few feet away but safely separated. It's an experience like no other and not to be...

Sadly the grounds are not what they used to be. We are locals and wanted a place to take nice pictures with my daughters new camera. Peacocks were beautiful. No deer only a few turtles, and alligators. Buildings and trails are deteriorating. We did not go in cabins.Owners are nice.

I'd searched the web for a long time to find a place like this - where you could experience staying in a cabin, right on a natural swamp. The owners are very friendly and charming. As soon as my gf and I walked in, we felt very welcome and right at home. The cottages are very basic, but clean and...
