I booked 2 rooms at the Courtyard in Lake Charles, Louisiana for 7/4/22-7/8/22. It was the worst hotel I have been to in 25 years! The rooms were not maintained at all including broken/ non-working door, mold in bathtub/ shower and on fixtures, non working tub/shower water fixture (only cold or very hot water) an overwhelming musty smell in the room from the soggy wet carpet below the dripping AC unit (and a filthy filter on it) to name just a few of the issues we encountered. The usual person at the front desk every day was not friendly, was on her cell phone, and didn’t answer the phone when called from the hotel room. For three days the front desk said they had no toiletries available. A complete waste of money! Read all the reviews online. (I wish I had read them first) How is this a Marriott property ?…
Booked a King room 2 months in advance and when we got there it had been changed to a Queen. Someone else came in and wanted a King before we got checked in!! Got in the room and drapes coming unattached, toilet paper holder hanging half off wall. Disappointed in this place. Will not be back.
I entered the lobby after an 8 hour drive with 3 families in front of me waiting to check in and nobody manning the front desk with a sign taped on the window stating “will return in 15 minutes.” The customer service agent was clearly unhappy to return. The room on the 4th floor has a very inadequate air conditioner, tv that jumbles local channels, ceiling fixtures above the bed that are barely hanging on, an adjoining door that will not deadbolt, yet won’t open because of ripped carpet, what appears to be a foundation issue as both the main door and bathroom doors have trouble opening and closing without dragging the floor, a broken toilet paper holder, and the oddest faucet handle in the bathroom I’ve ever encountered. Perhaps this Courtyard needs attention?
I’ve been a loyal Marriott member for over 20 years. As a lifetime Titanium member I have NEVER been spoken to as rudely as the young lady who is currently working the front desk. From check in to my 5+ visits to the front desk( 4 of which over a 2 hour time frame where she spent in a corner in the dining area engage in non work related activities). The room I was given smelled as if it had been flooded or mildewed. The air conditioner didn’t work, the thermostat remains at 73 degrees regardless of how low I’ve dropped it. When I called the front desk the phone rung for 14 minutes without an answer, in which time I walked to the front desk only to see her socially engaged with someone wearing shorts & a T-shirt that I assumed doesn’t work at the property. After speaking with her, she said she would call a maintenance gentleman from the next door property to troubleshoot the problem. An hour & 1/2 later I not only didn’t see anyone, but I called this time and let the phone ring 20 mins, before walking and just sitting in the lobby. This is not at all what I’ve come to expect from a MARRIOTT brand property. Not sure if it’s local or regional training that is responsible but it really should be addressed. If the air doesn’t improve I don’t think this room is sanitized enough to stay here. Additionally I do not feel as if I should be responsible for paying for this nights stay. Most importantly, watching how this young lady interacted with several guests, it’s recommended that she undergo additional training immediately. She should not be the face of this property.…
My husband and I entered the room. We immediately found food crumbs on the desk and all over the floor. The electrical plugs on the nightstands were covered in dirty scum build up. There was no bath towel mat. The shower curtain had orange and black mold. It was very obvious that housekeeping hadn't been doing their job. Front desk couldn't be bothered. It's baffling how this hotel has a 4 star. Shame on management and Marriott!! The floor carpet in the room by the room air conditioner was very wet.
Excellent look Fresh colors Looks new Very clean and well maintained However I do not like the revised new design of the rooms. Feels awkward Believe that the rooms are smaller Pricey room but smaller Reduced tv channels Hope that this is not their new direction
Free Shuttle every 1/2 hour til 2:30 am. Entertain family and friends in large lobby and dining area. We loved not worrying about parking or paying for a Valet. After a night of fun we we’re back in bed in 15 minutes. Immaculate and more fluffy WHITE towels than I have ever seen! Pleasant decor. Quiet. Room had extra plugs for all your chargers. Lights were plentiful. Room and bathroom were large, fridge and microwave. Nice grounds and pool. One thing missing was a safe. There is no excuse today not to offer a safe in every hotel room, especially when a casino crowd.
Service is just not there with this hotel. Seems like staff members really don't want to work and you can tell. I over heard conversations from housekeeping staff and Bistro employees that confirm my initial thoughts. I mean no one wants to work but at least keep it out of public areas. The air conditioning in the room works but there was a wet feeling or humid feeling in our room. Basically, next time we will go back to one of the main casinos unless they are $500 a night and then we would look around again.
Great location, very close to the casinos and local restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean property. Probably not the best build from a construction stand point but my room was fine and comfortable.
The front desk lady that was pregnant was very helpful ,kind ,and pleasant. The good direction on how to get there. the night audit was very confusing. He got us lost. The food in the bar was not worth the money and the food was not good no taste. The driver of the van was heartwarming and friendly.
