Detailed Reviews
We recently made a stop in Lake Charles on our way to Houston, TX for a weekend trip. Thought about staying closer to I-10, but once we heard this Staybridge was open we took the very short drive to this brand new hotel. Don't pass this one up take Interstate 210 and you will be glad you did. The GM Jarad Salecker and his hotel staff were all smiles and accommodating during our stay. You will love the amenities and very filling breakfast to get your day off to a good start. Will definitely keep this place in mind when traveling this way again.

We stayed in a one queen size bed 2 room suite and it was was very, very nice. Complete kitchen, full size refrigerator, two televisions with a door separating the rooms. A large walk in shower was also very nice. The room had all the extras and everything was clean and there were quite a few movie channels. The hotel was extremely nice, nice covered fire pit area outside along with a grilling area with lots of seating and a half basketball court. The breakfast was nice except I'm not a fan of the prefab eggs that are thawed and heated. They are calling them omelets for some reason. They have gone all out to include lots of extras like jalapenos and different cheeses but nothing beats an egg freshly prepared. I'm sure this is a corporate decision and a very bad one. There were 4 people eating breakfast when we arrived and we had to wait over 10 minutes for the frozen eggs fold overs to be prepared. I had read the staff was not particularity exceptional on previous reviews. I too found them not overly friendly nor did they seem happy or willing to engage in conversation. The location of the hotel is the most desirable in Lake Charles, close to the casinos and lots of shopping. .

Work took me to Lake Charles, La and the boss put me up at the Staybridge. The hotel itself is unassuming and mixed in with a cluster of other hotel chains. No bar and no restaurants within a quick walking distance, although plenty of options just a short drive down the road. The room, however, was wonderful ! It was, in fact, a suite for single of a couples room. That bed was softer than expected and I slept good (Had a nice, big TV in there too)! The 'living room' area was plenty spacious enough to stretch out in and watch TV (a big'un too!). The kitchen was plenty big with a full sized fridge/freezer (a big plus), a two burner stove with a few pots and pans, glass and silverware, nice microwave, and a full, 12-cup coffee maker (a bigger plus!). Staff was very friendly and helpful too. The only reason I didn't give it a full 'five' rating would be the somewhat 'smallish' bathroom (allthough the shower was outstanding!)....I'm a 'bigger' dude so I like a little space when taking care og that bidness... Look y'all, this place, overall, is really comfey and more than worth it. BYOB

We drove from Texas to Florida and from Florida to Lake Charles to spend the night.
We were exhausted and when we went to our room and opened the door, we were immediately hit with a strong mildew smell. It smelled musty and we attributed it to the room being closed up for a while.
So we unpacked and left for 3 hours to go eat and do some things. We thought it would be better when we returned. When we came back at 10:00 that night the smell was still there. At 10:00 and after that much road time, you don't want to pack everything back up and deal with the hassle of moving to another room and unpacking again, we were exhausted so we decided to stay and deal with it.
As I started getting ready for bed, I took my socks and shoes off and as I was walking around, I figured it out instantly! The carpet had been cleaned and it felt slightly damp and I could hear the tiniest bit of soap still in the carpet. Weird yes but I have had our carpets cleaned many times and I know the smell and the feel before it completely dries! That was the smell! Damp carpet that was not dried and how can it? There are no ceiling fans in the room and they probably don't leave the doors open to let the room air out. Side note that has nothing to do with the smell but both the kitchen and the bathroom floors are sticky. You can't mop with products and expect it not to be.
So it took me a very long time to go to sleep with this smell. I had a bad headache all night. Wet carpet can cause bacteria and mold to grow if not properly dried and can cause breathing problems. So we were in this terrible smelling room all night long.
The next morning I asked for a manager and was told SHE was in a meeting. Aren't they always? I was calm and explained the situation and felt that it was unfair to put us in a room that was clearly not ready for guests and I felt that the manager should fairly compensate us for our discomfort of having to breathe that in all night long.
The older lady at the front desk and the younger black lady were very understanding and the older lady felt sure the manager would reverse our charges and she would have her call me.
So the conclusion is the manager NEVER called and she compensated us a whole $30 for a night of breathing in the mildew! I guess that's all she thought it was worth! Maybe she should spend a night in a room like that and see if she thinks it's fair to spend as much as we did for a room like that.
They don't ever need to put a guest in a room without inspecting it after the carpet has been cleaned.
I will never ever stay here again or any other Staybridge Suites - not because of the smell, but because of how poorly this was handled by the manager at this location!

Normally chosen as a long- term stay place, but also great for one night. Plenty of towels, actual mugs, plates, flatware. Free laundry! Extremely helpful and courteous staff. No down side! All for the price you’d pay for a Holiday inn. Pet friendly also

LEARNED MY LESSON...One gentalmwn on staff was great the others could care less.. room was decent ..bed very comfortable... my issue is never in all my traveling have I been denied a late checkout NEVER... front desk reason was they had issues to many already ..WOW!! In my room it says 100% satisfaction on night stand .....what a joke.. they lost a new customer. A new customer who will never return because they couldn’t spare one extra hour for me or my future business with them.. sad

Hello Tnewmark73, Thank you for leaving us your review and for making us a part of your visit here in Lake Charles. We are grateful that you've chosen the StayBridge Suites to host you. As always, we wanted nothing more but to ensure your experience turn as positive as possible. Though it's great to know that you were satisfied with the comfortability of the bed, the room and our staff's service, I'm sorry that we weren't able to leave you with a positive impression. I regard your thoughts how dissatisfied you were not being able to have an extended check-out and what you thought of some of my colleagues. I'm sorry that this stay didn't go as planned,Tnewmark73. Don't worry, I took the necessary steps to ensure our management gets to read your post and be discussed amongst all concerned staff. We are always on the lookout for ways to make your experience memorable. Reviews such as this goes a long way in identifying areas where we can improve. I also dropped a message via your inbox to further talk about your review. We may not have gotten off the right foot but I'm positive to make it better for your next stay. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay with us. Best regards, Frank A. Case Manager IHGService

cleaner rooms, there was sticky liquid on the shelves, the shampoo and conditioner containers were empty. The remote didn’t work front desk had to come fix it. Front desk staff was very rude they don’t even look at you when you’re in the lobby. Very rude all around. And last my curling iron was left for a fact and housekeeping supposably couldn’t find it. Was suppose to be called back 3 times but never happened. They need honest staff if a guest leaves something it is policy they have to keep it for a number of days and I called the next day. Horrible experience never again will I stay at this location.

As a platinum member of IHG I can surely say that my stays here is always memorable. The front desk manager Kathy always remembers my name when I come here. I enjoy this place because I feel comfortable just like home. The suite is spectacular to say the least. The bedroom is clean and comfortable. The living room and kitchen are fabulous. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and accommodating to my disability. I will never stay anywhere else when in Lake Charles.

+1
This was my first time to stay in an IHG Staybridge Suites property. I was very impressed.
First let me state that I am a die hard Hilton lover and I’m not sure why I even decided to give this property a try but I am so happy I did. The property is a newer property and appears clean and maintained. My room was very large and well furnished. The kitchen was large enough and well stocked. I loved the lounging sofa and large (50+”) television screens (1 in living area, 1 in bedroom). The mattress was super comfortable. There was a little sign that said the mattress was new and was a Beautyrest by Simmons Hospitality. It was super comfortable and if I was buying for my home I’d consider the same mattress.
My only complaint, and I am running into this issue more & more, is that there is not a bathtub in the suite, only a stand up shower. I don’t like the fact that my choice of bath or shower has been taken away and now I can only shower. I like a hot bath to relax at the end of the day and I didn’t have this option at this property since there was no bathtub, only a stand up shower. The bath products smelled nice and the shampoo, etc. is the communal type mounted in the shower.
The fitness room was well equipped and breakfast area satisfactory. All areas of the hotel appeared to be spotless. I read the negative reviews of this property but had absolutely no problem during my stay. I will stay here again when I’m in the area.

For your next stay, we will try to accommodate a tub with your assistance to inform us prior to your arrival. Our goal is to Please all guest. Again we Thank you and look forward to your next stay.

I stayed at this hotel on 8/4/18. I left my brand new shorts in the room. I called after I left 2 days later and I was told someone would look for this garment and call me back, no one ever called me back. I called the hotel back on 8/23/18 and spoke with a gentlemen and I was told he could not find my garment. The room was also too small for all that was offered, and the breakfast is horrible. I will never stay in this hotel again. (if you leave something in this hotel do not expect to get it back)
