I was traveling to Houston and needed a nice room to stay in. I stayed in room 208 it was clean. I rested up and then traveled to Houston. I would definitely stay there again. My daughter also loved the pool!!!
When we arrived we were given room 116. As anybody does we walked in to inspect the room to see how clean it was. Within a minute of walking in we seen a roach on the bathroom ceiling. The ironing board cover was disgusting! We went back up to the front desk and advised them of the issues and asked for a different room or our money back. The receptionist stated “most the time when I give people rooms 116-117 they usually come back”. I was appalled. Receptionist stated that she would give us her “best room” and let us choose between two. We decided to stay in room 202 which was their biggest room they had. Noticed in the bathroom that the exhaust fan was not properly covered and was caked in dust. When turned on it smelled as if it was burning. Bathroom shower and curtain were gross. The air conditioning units needed to be cleaned. There was some kind of food or substance on the ice in the freezer part of the fridge. I was absolutely disgusted by this place. …
Don’t stay here unless you are a drug dealer or a hooker. Very unsafe hotel with prostitution in room 118 all night long. Even front desk women would buy drugs from the people in room 118. I did not feel safe here but I had no choice but to try to sleep as I was not able to get a refund for a filthy disgusting room.
How did this hotel ever get 2 stars?? The hotel looked sketchy before we go there. Company booked us in as there were no other hotels with rooms available at the Gov't Per Diem rate. The office was locked "due to Covid" so had to check in through a 2" slit in the glass window. Sign said "No breakfast due to Covid". The key wallet stated "Always use deadbolt, secure valuables and report suspicious persons or acts. Never open door prior to verifying ID" which made me a bit wary to start with but due to the sketchy people hanging around smoking outside, the first thing I did when i got to my room was deadbolt and chain the door!! The room was dark & dingy. Plastic chairs and table. The bathroom door used to have a mirror but it must have been broken previously and not replaced but they couldn't even be bothered to re-paint it. The rack for hanging clothes was loose and hanging off the wall at one end. Bathroom tiles were broken and cracked, shower head was less than 5 feet up the wall which is great if you're a child. I didn't bother unpacking because I knew I'd be staying only one night out of the 10 originally planned. The ONLY redeeming feature was that the bed was actually comfortable.…
Keep your money... Not worth the stay and not worth carrying the Howard Johnson hotel brand name. I have had better experiences at a pay by the hour motel. I feel that I was cheated out of my vacation time.
Dirty room, big parking lot brawl first thing in morning. Ugly 1970 orange decor, did not feel like a clean room and did not feel safe. We left after multiple police arrived. Area is very run down. Use caution.
Room is very comfortable.. the bed is super comfortable for resting.. Upon entering, the room had a rose-like smell, which was nice. The room came with a mini fridge and microwave, which came in handy. The restroom had a little chipping of paint in the shower, but that wasn't a big deal as the showerhead is one of those adjustable stream, which makes for a nice shower. The location of the hotel is in the downtown area, which is actually convenient to where we were going. All in all, great stay and will be book again next time I'm in Lake Charles.
Perfect room for 2. The room was pretty clean. Nothing that was the fault of the hotel. The only problem I had was that our door was hard to get into and our keys had to be reactivated the second day.
stay away dirty run down place with horrible service. breakfast was two pieces of toast in a glass case and some type of cereal with no milk. at check in i had to ring a bell three times then a rough hair man drags out like i woke him up and said huh about 10 times. was zero help with some simple questions
The room was clean, reasonably priced. The young man at the desk was preoccupied with the computer and took a long time to check us in. Customers came in and he laughed when they left, saying he told them breakfast was at 7; it was really at 6:30. At 6:30 next morning when we went to eat door was locked. When he opened it, coffee was not ready and he gave us a package of muffins. The whole thing was a joke to him. Would not go back.
