Rachel was very friendly while checking us in. She upgraded our room so we could be closer to the washer and dryer so I could do our laundry easier. The room was well decorated and clean. The beds are comfortable. The towels are practically brand new, which is nice. Decent price, close to I-10, this is a hotel I will stay in again.

My first time trying a La Quinta hotel. Cheaper than the hotel we usually use. The front desk was friendly and professional. Room was clean and the breakfast was just ok. This is a dog friendly hotel and we did hear a dog barking but overall not a bad stay.

The third floor of this hotel is not open for business. The windows are still boarded up like many businesses and homes in the Lake Charles/Westlake area. The state parks aren’t even opened and neither is the nearby casino.

Go to this area knowing most things are closed and be happy when it’s open. I met people in the community that still don’t ha e windows or Sheetrock or the basics in their personal homes.

The hotel is clean. You do have to change your towels and linens out at the front desk because of Covid. That isn’t that unusual. I have lived in hotels most of the last 16 months. I sold my house and have been traveling. Plus the hurricane guests stole the towels and linens. It costs a lot to replace those.

The owner is trying to get their housekeeping staff trained. They worked in teams and went thru checklists. The owner is trying to get people hired but he isn’t making a lot of money having to redo an entire floor of his hotel.

The bad reviews from June 2021 I believe was a group for a baseball tournament. They were a rude bunch. The brats ran all over the hotel and the parents parked awful in the parking lot. Had they done any research they would know most pools were closed. Some county and state health depts won’t open hotel/public pools, that don’t have hurricane damage, because of Covid. A lot of hotels are taking this Covid time to redo the pool areas so pools are closed everywhere.

I was there for a week and traveling with dogs. I was even able to borrow a vacuum. I put my trash out every day at least once and it magically disappeared.

There isn’t a lot to eat in this area so make sure you call ahead to see if the place you want is open. Learn to drive around the lake then you don’t have to pop on 10 much.

We just checked out of the hotel. We would love to mention something positive but literally have nothing. The moment you drive up, you’re greeted by a building that shows extreme damage everywhere. There’s construction all over the place. There’s dog poop EVERYWHERE outside. If you can get past the look of the building, you go inside and now get greeted with halls that are filthy, with visible dirt all over.

Elevators didn’t work. Now we’re having to haul out luggage and other possessions up the stairs.

Now the room. Visible damage to the walls and furniture (e.g. wallpaper peeling off). The walls are paper thin so you can hear everyone and everything. There were people slamming their door at 3am. This lasted for about an hour.

Aside from the room damage, the actual bedding was disgusting. Pillows had multiple stains like it had not been washed.

Then to top it off, we got overcharged. We made the reservation on the phone with their direct line. We were told $145 for everything, including taxes, fees, and puppy for one night. We show up and now are told it’s $165. We talk to the guy who greeted us and he tells us that he’s going to honor the $145. However, when we check out, the new guy in charge says $165. We explained to him that this is not what we were quoted and that the total was $145. His response? “Sorry, nothing I can do. I can tell the guy from last night that he can’t change the price but the total is still $165”. Worst customer service and no attempt to even make the situation better.

We definitely DO not recommend this property to anyone. The town itself is not worth paying $160+. All other La Quintas had quoted us $85. We ended up staying here because we could not drive anymore from exhaustion. However, I wish we would have kept driving a bit more to get as far from this place as possible where our experience would have been better and half price. Look elsewhere. Trust us

Didn't realize the hotel was in such bad shape when I made the reservation. As others have noted the grounds are littered with pieces of the damaged hotel as well as trash, the front/side section of the building is still missing and some windows are boarded up. There was NOTHING offered for breakfast under the guise of COVID but considering the state of LA is open and even the hotels I was at in NJ last weekend offered something, I'm guessing the real reason is they are being cheap. Pool is closed. Looks like entire third floor is still closed off. Checked in and told the person at desk I had a pet and was in town for a dogshow. Didn't realize there was a fee until I got there. Was told it would be $20 a night. That's ridiculous but I didn't have many options since I was already there so I agreed to pay. When I checked out my friend, who had stayed with me was standing there with her dog. When I received the bill I was charged $40 a night for the dogs. We were at the shows all day long and our dogs were in crates in the room. Not sure how that should incur a $40 a night fee. When I questioned it they pointed to a small typed up sign, with several other things on it, on the opposite end of the counter, away from where you check in. I paid $444.95 for 2 nights at a hotel that was badly damaged, had no maid service, one working ice machine, no pool and no breakfast. Highway robbery at it's finest. I actually paid less at the Hilton Waikiki!

Like a recent review stated, we book the hotel with points, but upon check-in were told that they cannot accept points and had to pay the “discounted” hotel rate. They said that they tried to call me to let me know, and they didn’t have my email on file (which is just ridiculous since I received a confirmation email and have it on file with Wyndham). I’m a diamond member so this “discounted” rate was $10 more per night than what I would book online. After a frustrating conversation and realize that with a family and dog, we had no other options, we reluctantly agreed to pay. This hotel realizes that they can pull this bait and switch on customers because of the lack of pet friendly hotels in the area so they can boost their sales. I can’t believe Wyndham allows this to go on and no matter how much we explain to Wyndham how ridiculous this is, they always return back to the hotel. The hotel is impossible to reach by phone. Another awful part is that the points aren’t automatically put back in my account so after a few weeks I’ve still fully paid for a room with points and cash.

If you have any other options, I strongly recommend staying away from this hotel due to their shady tactics.

This was a nice la Quinta, until they decided to stay open after the last hurricane. The price was exorbitant for the amenities. Usually you would charge less not more if you aren’t able to provide
the amenities that you are charged . The room was dirty with French fries and dirty socks behind the corner chair. One end of the lobby was piled with furniture. The pool was filled with black water and was a mosquito breeding farm. I get that it’s hard to recover and get help to fix things after a hurricane but you don’t price gouge people. Never again

Do not stay at this hotel if you care about you and your family’s safety. The door to the hotel on the first floor is held together with duct tape and does not have a lock so anyone can come in and out of the hotel anytime day or night. This hotel has a lot of hurricane damage and looks nothing like the pictures online. The pool is disgusting and the rooms are filthy since no one is there to clean the rooms. The third floor is closed due to all of the damage. The owner is also price gauging people by the amount he is charging per night. It should not even be open.

Disgusting. Mold in the bathroom, stain on the bedspread.
Run from this place. Mold around the bath tub and toilet. Stains in the carpet.

If you stay here you need to inspect your mom throughout and report issues within 15 mins of checking in.

Pool is closed.
