This place was very clean and bright and modern. Stayed one night and heard nothing. Curtains blocked the light well. The air worked fine and wasn’t loud. Bed and pillows were comfy. Hot water was fine. Nice large vanity and nice walk-in shower. Looks great from the street and inside. Lobby is very pretty. Our room had a few extra touches - a casserole dish, hot pad, and a can opener to use the microwave. Larger than normal refrigerator with a freezer area with a small ice cube tray. There was a sofa chair, a desk with a chair, and a dresser. Full length mirror. Closet. Fairly large TV that worked fine. Very friendly staff. We did not have the breakfast. Easy off and on to the interstate. We’d go back!

Traveling from Austin to Destin, and needed a place to stop. Planning the trip, saw the reviews, decided to give it a try, and made our reservations. Given the value, we got two rooms for extra comfort (the four of us need not share one room this way).
Even though it was a little bit off I-10, it was worth the short 1.2 mile drive. Bonus - no interstate noise. We arrived around 10p, and were greeted warmly, and quickly checked in. I would say the rooms were comparable to a brand new Courtyard in terms of size and style, only cleaner!
I wouldn't say that my wife is so sensitive to the cleanliness of a hotel to the point of being snobbish, but only because she may read this. But she was extremely happy with this place.
In the morning while having breakfast, the owner popped into the dining area and asked about our stay. He genuinely cared about what we thought of our experience. Ah, there it is. Why is this place so wonderful? The owner. It is clear. I will be back.

This is one of the NICEST place that I have stayed in during a bowling tournament. From the very nice and clean lobby area to the extremely clean HUGE room. I can see why it is rated as high as it is. When you have a local hotel roons rated HIGHER than the rooms at the 3 top casino's in the same area, that is saying something.

We had a terrible experience at the Mulberry. But I will start with the good. The exterior and public areas are well-lit and look like they are well taken care of. Check in was smooth, however, the trouble for us started when we got to our room and immediately smelled a strong odor of stale cigarette smoke. We set our bags down and began to survey the rest of the room which looked nice, when the smoke detector beeped. Then 30 seconds later beeped again and continued on.
We went to the desk and requested a different room after explaining the situation. There was no empathy from the clerk, No apology as she told us, “ there are no more rooms.” I asked her if there was a maintenance person she could call about the smoke detector and she went on to explain to me that there is no one she can call, the owner lives over an hour away, and she was not willing to call another hotel in the area for me. I told the clerk that I wasn’t willing to tamper with a smoke detector in a hotel, and asked her how this was my problem? Again, no empathy and no indication she would do anything to assist with the problem.
We returned to the room to stash our luggage, and began searching for other hotels in the area. After we found several highly rated hotels that had rooms available, The clerk called our room and said she had called the owner, and the owner was responding. It was after 9:30PM, we had been traveling all day during a cross country move, and we decided to go to waffle House down the street for dinner while we decided what to do.
We decided that even if the owner showed up with a ladder and a 9 volt battery (over an hour later) to fix the smoke detector, the room still reeked, and by morning we would too. We booked at a nearby national chain and had a very nice room and good service.
When we checked out after our dinner And asked for a refund, the clerk responded by telling us “I can’t do that“. Which was not surprising after her other responses to our concerns. The next day the charges were reversed and we were happy with that.
My impression is that the owners probably do a nice job with this place overall, but this clerk was not trained in any kind of customer service or dealing with issues, and was utterly helpless when it came to even small issues. Their maintenance people dropped the ball by not replacing the smoke detector batteries on a schedule ahead of time, and their housekeeping dropped the ball by signing off on a room that obviously stunk. The owner dropped the ball by having a clerk with poor customer service skills and no resources to address issues.

The Mulberry Hotel was pretty much what we had anticipated from the reviews that we had read before making our reservations. There were no issues with the room, nor the hotel itself. The lobby was clean as was the room. It was a bit noisy in the room late at night with strange thumping sounds. The trains in the area made some noise, but not enough to interupt our sleep. Breakfast was nothing exceptional, just typical hotel continental breakfast items. We had a small issue with check-in when we arrived. The person that was going to check us in was on the phone and spent more time than they should have speaking to the person on the phone before checking us in. In contrast, upon check out a different person was at the desk and she was on the phone. She immediately put the person on the phone on hold and checked us out, printing and giving us our receipt. It's highly unlikely that we will be staying in West Lake again, but if we did we would definitely stay at the Mulberry Hotel.

The Mulberry hotel was quaint, comfortable and clean. Loved supporting a family run hotel that goes the extra mile. During these post Covid days when housecleaning elsewhere has declined, the Mulberry is still keeping up their high standards. The staff was super friendly too. Will stay again.

Stayed for 1 night on the last leg of a trip back home. We were highly satisfied. New and clean facilities. A/C works very well. The bed was comfortable. Location is super close to Horseshoe casino and not that far from Golden Nugget and Lauberge. The breakfast spread looked decent, although we didn’t eat it because we were meeting family for breakfast. However The Mulberry is definitely worth checking out if you want a great stay at a great price.

Hotel was extremely clean and staff was so very friendly and helpful. Lake Charles area has many accommodations to choose from but I highly recommend staying at the hotel. Security cameras were positions throughout the grounds, which made us feel safe when arriving and leaving the hotel.

Small hotel; convenient location; quiet and clean with a friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. The location is close to the interstate but not so close that one heats constant traffic noise. This was my second stay at the Mulberry while visiting family and will be my choice for any future visits.

The Mulberry was great with fantastic amenities and a wonderful staff. I would absolutely recommend it for anyone visiting L'Auberge du Lac or the Golden Nugget. It's right down the street, close enough to be convenient (or inexpensive on an Uber), but far enough away to avoid heavy casino traffic, lights, and noise.
