We were driving from Florida to College Station Texas and thought I would stop at Horseshoe Casino for a little fun and over night rest. It was Sunday 1/14/24. The casino was not terribly busy, except at the tables, probably needed another blackjack table and poker table open if there were available dealers. The room was nice and comfortable. All was great until the next morning when we woke, had coffee in the room, and prepared for a shower. I turned on the shower to let the water warm up. After 10 minutes of it running on hot, it was still cold. I called the front desk and they sent maintenance up to fix it. The maintenance guy ran the water for another 10 minutes on hot and it still did not get hot. He said he had not idea what was wrong. I called back to the front desk and asked for a room to we shower in as we needing to check out and be on our way. The lady at the front desk said there was no open room on my same floor and I would need to go up ( in my pajamas) to another floor and I could come down and get the key. After some back and forth she brought the key up and we headed upstairs via the elevator in our pajamas to shower. We arrive at the room and the keys don’t work. We get on the elevator and go to the front desk and are asked if the manager didn’t find us with new keys? I say no. A minute or so later here comes the manager on duty with the new keys. I fully expected he would be extremely apologetic regarding this inconvenience and offer something to make it a little less irritating. Boy was I wrong. He was a young guy with absolutely no sense of customer service. I asked that my $100.00 room be comped( mind you Ceasars hotels give lots of comped room offers nightly) and he said no, but I’ll credit you the $17.00 resort fee.
To say the least that made me even madder.
I strongly encourage Horseshoe Lake Charles to teach their young manager on duty 1/15 /25 @9AM how to retain customers. I will never come back to the casino all because of this one young kid. I’m sure it doesn’t matter, to them…

*Room was clean *balcony door did work, ~but there was no chair ~no amenities ~ no ashtray ~had to ask for extra pillows. Wow, I could not believe the pool does not open till 11 AM. The casino floor is dead half the restaurants are not open. We were lucky. We went back over the bridge and went to Golden Nugget and L’auberge to play. Would I stay here again only if I had too. I would pay more to stay at Golden nugget or L’auberge at least the restaurants are open people are playing and the pools open up at 8 AM thank you it’s summer after all and it’s 90° at 7 AM

Disappointing stay at the Horseshoe Lake Charles, La. Washcloths were in short supply. Two days in a row we had to wait for washcloths as the hotel was unable to supply clean washcloths for guests. Hotel food was lacking as I was served a salad in which the lettuce was wilted and unappealing. Biscuits at breakfast were hard and left uneaten. Security at the Hotel was also disappointing as the hotel security employee inappropriately handled a barking dog left alone in someone's room keeping us awake. We will never stay there again.

The current review arises from my first visit to the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel in Lake Charles since Caesars acquired it from the old Isle of Capri. As a caveat to the reader, I confess I am a Caesar’s Rewards member, so I cannot say for certain that the status of my lodging was or was not affected by that fact; however, I believe it is safe to conclude that the accoutrements of my room should translate across a broad spectrum of guest accommodations. That said, on with the review. The hotel is a tower, probably renovated from the tower that was part of the Isle of Capri. Check in was fast and easy. My room on the 9th floor had a nice view of the lake. The room was spacious by hotel standards and there was ample room for two people to share the space—conceding that women would always need more bathroom counter room, of which there was plenty. Don’t ‘at’ me for sexism. That was humor for you sensitive types! There were more than enough electrical ports, including at least one HDMI port on the large, built-in desk and plenty of USB and AC outlets in convenient locations throughout. The lighting is more than adequate with plenty of adjustment choices. There is also a safe in the room, which I always like for obvious reasons. A coffee station was also provided. As for comfort, the thermostat was simple and easy to adjust and kept the room at optimum temperature without the constant on/off fans that some rooms have, especially those with window units. The HVAC system thankfully did not direct a cold air blast toward any particular location in the space. The was room was also very quiet but it is impossible to control noisy neighbors, of which there were none on my visit. The bathroom provided a spacious shower ( no tub ) with a bench, which is great for older folks or those who just want a little more relaxation. In the shower, there was a choice between a handheld wand or a rain shower from above. The controls were quite easy to understand and use. The water closet was closed off from the sink and shower area for those who value privacy. The bed and associated bed clothes and pillows were quite comfortable. All things considered, this hotel gets 5 stars simply because it was clean, modern and well thought out. In my reviews places do not get stars simply for being located in beautiful or unusual geographical locations. I’ve had plenty of less than accommodating stays in wonderful, very expensive places. The stars assume readers know the reviews are for what I would call “Apples to Apples” comparisons. The relatively new Caesar’s Horseshoe is a very nice place to stay. I recommend it with no qualms. The casino is clean and spacious and offers plenty of both table and machine play. There are not very many places to eat but those available are just fine. I understand from talking with people at the hotel that more restaurants are expected in the future.

I asked twice for foam pillows, I never got them. The 1st night we didn't sleep, the pool speakers were so loud. The 2nd night, when I was returning to our room I noticed a sign that the pool was closed. I got to the room and music was again loud. I called the front desk and the gentleman told me he would take care of it. 20 minutes later I went downstairs and was approaching the front desk and another man asked me if he could help. I again told him about the music and he said that the person who has the key to the room was gone. I told him that they needed to get their stories on the same page. Told him we would never stay there again! The bathroom sink had no hot water. The housekeeping nor front desk must of had polio, not answering. There was not a REAL CASINO HOST that would review our play nor reduce our charges like The Golden Nugget. Only good thing was eating at the steak house was delicious.

On the way on the I-10 to Texas, this seemed like a suitable overnight stop. We don't come for the Casino but the hotel seemed attractive. The swimming pool turned out not to be open yet, but that was not indicated. My husband was taken away by security because he was swimming! That's not how you treat guests, especially because you don't communicate about it. The room was beautiful, very efficiently decorated with beautiful colors and felt pleasant. However, there were many things that did not work, such as the USB next to the bed, the toilet trade, the WiFi. The bathroom floor was slippery, the paint, plaster and floor were poorly finished and ugly. Staff and management were not service oriented. On the contrary. This hotel is not focused on customers but on making money. This will not be a success with this service.

My spouse and I had a room reserved for Saturday August 3rd and were running a bit behind for check in. We received a call from the front desk around 7pm and did let the front desk manager, Geoffrey, know we were on the way. We arrived about 9 pm and were told we no longer had a room but would be given a room at an offsite hotel and a $50 food credit which could only be used the next day. No mention of any inconvenience or apologies on their end, just that they overbook the rooms. Who books a room only to travel 15 minutes further to stay at an obscure hotel that was no where near what was reserved? Why did the staff just not say, you no longer have a room? Checked my email later to find out someone at the hotel must have canceled the room. The email says sorry you had to cancel your reservation, and was received at 9:24 pm. The manager canceled the reservation while we stood at the desk. Don’t stay here unless this is your last option for a casino trip. No integrity and no compassion does not make for good business!

DO NOT STAY HERE! Prior to booking this hotel we emailed the horseshoe directly asking if the pool facilities would be open this July 2023. We got a response informing us that “yes the pool will be open from June 2023”. We arrived at the horseshoe today (14th July 2023) and upon checking in we asked if the pool was intact now open however the staff member at the reception told us “no it is still under construction”. We explained our frustration to the staff member about how the pool was the main reason we chose to book this hotel otherwise we would not have chose this location. The staff members blunt response to us was “well you can just cancel”, no sympathy, no customer etiquette, no help. We had several notifications/emails about our upcoming booking at the horseshoe but not any information stating that the pool was still not open. False advertising through Booking.com as well, as they exclaim that there is a pool. This pool is nowhere near finished and looks like it won’t be open until the end of this year! We have cancelled our booking with the horseshoe but have had to pay the first nights fee of $189, which is disgusting. We’re now staying at the Holiday Inn which is only a 5 minute drive from the golden nugget casino, so in fact the horseshoe hotel is in an awful location! Holiday inn you have free breakfast, 24hr coffee, free laundry, free parking and A POOL! Staff at the Holiday Inn are extremely friendly and helpful this is where you want to stay!!!

I had the misfortune of staying at this horrendous excuse for a hotel. Where do I begin? First off, the lack of cleanliness was astounding. The room looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks, and don't even get me started on the bathroom—it was a breeding ground for germs. To top it off, they conveniently forgot to mention that they don't offer daily cleaning service which may explain why the hotel room looked so tired.
Not only was the hotel itself a disaster, but the manager’s attitude was equally appalling. When I dared to voice my concerns about the lack of cleanliness and abysmal service, the manager’s response was shockingly dismissive. He told me that if I didn’t like it, I could leave. So, I took his advice and checked out immediately.
Another thing that demonstrated the terrible customer service is that when you pushed the “front desk” button on the phone it always went to a fast busy signal… this then required calling the hotel operator and asking to be connected to the front desk and when they did connect to the front desk, no one answered.
Oh, and don't even bother booking a room with a balcony if you enjoy sitting down. There were no chairs in sight to enjoy the supposed "lake view."
Save yourself the headache and steer clear of this dump. You'd be better off pitching a tent in the nearest landfill.

Being that this is a new location, I’m going to forgive a few issues. First, there are few to no directions in getting to the hotel from the parking garage. After finally finding the kiosks to check in, I ended up being assigned the same room as another couple who were already in the room. I managed to find the front desk, on another floor, and I will say the customer service was superb. The VP of Marketing moved me to the VIP Suite which while beautifully designed, had a view of the parking lot versus the river. I was fine with this as I was there for a night and after everything that had already happened, I was appreciative of the upgrade. Rooms at this hotel are budget friendly especially for the area and I do recommend it to those that want a weekend or midweek getaway.
