The food was superb. The rooms were ok too. We booked this hotel and restaurant as a start to our holiday as it was close to Edinburgh airport. However, there was a wedding that night. This did not interfere with our meal or even made it noisy in our room. Unfortunately the behaviour of some of the drunken wedding guests who chose to have a very heated dispute in the hall outside the bedrooms very late on, made it a big no no for future stays. (Barry, you know who you are). It was such a shame as we had a truly lovely evening. PS, we don’t know Barry. That was the name of the protagonist being shouted very loudly by a wedding guest. It was over in minutes but enough to make sleep uncomfortable.

Used to be a regular here but after a disappointing few visits I hadn’t been in over two years. We decided to pop in for dinner and a few drinks, and I’m very glad we did. The food was delicious, much like how it used to be a few years ago! Can’t wait to come back

We had been meaning to visit for quite sometime although the available dates on the website never matched ours. Managed to book an overnight back in August on booking..com. We had a lovely stay, staff were friendly and attentive. Food in the restaurant was delicious and service came with a pleasant smile. A couple of things that let the visit down 1) given the cost of the room for 1 night (£144 not including breakfast) there was no bottled water provided for tea and coffee facilities 2) the temperature in the bedroom was hard to control, extremely hot overnight 3) mattress and pillows were particularly firm 4) at check out the receptionist advised if we book direct in future breakfast would be included at the same cost, I would have booked directly if the room had shown as available on the website. All of the above did not detract from our overall experience, although had I known I may have made a different room choice via the hotel prior to our visit.

Orocco Pier is an experience of luxury food and views. Set looking over the forth on the banks of a gorgeous little sandbank. There is a great ambiance with the correct kind of music and lighting to absolutely hit the spot. The service was faultless. The food was out of this world. We opted for a selection of small plates and each one took you on a different experience. We had a gorgeous bottle of Rioja, which paired well with what we choose. Then took out glasses out to the balcony and admired the view. I don’t know if we just got lucky with the weather but it wasn’t cold at all, I had thought it would be very windy but we were sat with jackets on, it was very comfortable as were the seats. We stayed in a standard double room which was in keeping with the red vibe throughout the hotel. It was a lovely wee room. The bed was huge for a standard room. Complete with mini bar, not that you need the food after such a delicious meal. The wee town was cute, old and historic. Which just added more to the experience. Only one thing worth mentioning was the parking, there isn’t any due to it being on the Main Street and the sea is behind the hotel. we had to park down the hill from the hotel, it wasn’t too far to walk but with suitcases etc not ideal but it wasn’t a issue just something that’s worth noting.

Having visited South Queensferry we decided to visit Orocco Pier for a hot drink and a scone with jam and cream. The tea arrived and was lovely. The scones then arrived and were very large. Having cut mine and spread the jam and cream on I was then very disappointed. I’m not sure what kind of jam it was but tasted very strange but unfortunately the scone was just dough inside as it hadn’t been cooked properly. Although our scones were still lying on our plates no one came to ask if everything was alright. We ended up asking for our bill and letting them know about the scones. Very disappointing.
