we were a party of 8 ( so we saw a few rooms) staying in the Inn between xmas and new year....we had the warmest of welcome...and I mean that - the rooms were like toast!! and after a long, very snowy drive from Boston that was much needed. The rooms were really lovely, the bed was huge and soooooooo...

My three siblings and I decided to get together for a mini-vacation in Maine with my elderly Mom. We were thoroughly pleased with the facilities the Sudbury Inn offered. They exceeded our expectations completely. We couldn't have had a nicer vacation and the Inn provided the venue and the services. We had a fabulous family dinner one night at the...

Our first impressions were 'what a great place! ' But as the week went on we were increasingly disappointed . Considering we were paying in excess of $200 per night we were surprised that there were no porterage facilities, we had to ask for our bathroom to be cleaned and a blood stained pillow was left on the bed for...

This establishment has some great reviews and a lot of 5 star ratings. I think that this is very deceptive. Sure some of the rooms are very spacious but you pay "top dollar" for these. We stayed in a room with no wardrobe ( we were skiing with all the relative luggage for a family of 3) We were kept...

OK, I stole the "unpretentious" from a previous reviewer, but it perfectly describes the Sudbury Inn. We stayed at the Sudbury Inn in early October, 2004. Our expectations were exceeded. Staff was very cheerful, our room was spotless and the Suds Pub in the basement was exactly what you would want in a neighborhood pub......friendly people (locals and travelers alike),...

My husband and I and our two boys (ages 6 and 8) stayed at the Sudbury Inn on October 10 and 11. We were very much impressed. We stayed in one of the luxury suites (Room 22) which has a king canopy bed (very lux). The boys had their own bedroom with two twin beds and their own TV. Bethel...

As a professional travel writer my wife and I travel a lot. We found the inn to be exceptionally comfortable, the staff and owers very friendly and helpful, and the food and service excellent. All in a very unpretenious atmosphere. We stayed three nights and the constant stream of European tarvelers also here made the experience especially unique, fun and...

My wife and I spent over a week visiting Maine and I wanted to spend our last two nights in the western mountains since my wife had never been there. Being somewhat familiar with Bethel I chose the Sudbury Inn. It turned out to be a great choice. The Inn is a rambling, classic old Maine building. It officially opened...

The Sudbury Inn is a good all around place for a ski trip. You get a bar in the basement, a good restaurant and lounge on the 1st floor, and rooms upstairs. The rooms vary in condition, ours had some water mineral stains on the sink, and the ceiling was peeling slightly, but unless you are really anal, these things...

My husband and I stayed here in the winter of 2000. We travel a lot for pleasure/business. I just discovered this site and felt the need to comment on this place as it was one of the worst places that we have ever stayed. Everything looked fine at a distance - but when you looked close up - it was...

Management response:

We appreciate your feedback regarding our property, but would like to point out that this complaint occurred in the winter of 2000. We are new owners, having purchased the Sudbury Inn in June of 2000. Since that date we have worked extraordinarily hard to upgrade the property. We have spent over $350k in improvements, including major renovations of the guestrooms,...
