First of all the high spots. We had great pancakes custom made for us both mornings of our stay and the service by Brenda was very attentive. We ate on the veranda and the weather was perfect. Now the not so great parts. We rented based on a well done website showing a fully functional restaurant and bar. Neither of...

We LOVED this place last year and in early June of this year, that is until half the staff quit, including the chef. They're trying to act like nothing happened, but the magic Thistle Inn burger is a thing of the past, and the replacement is not even appetizing. Happy hour is still a great deal from 5 -6, but...

The room was dark and small. The carpet in the room stained. Unlike other B&Bs they do not tell you about places to visit in the area. The housekeeper, Brenda, was extremely rude and loud. I have dietary restrictions and she was not ready to present any options. I ended up eating one toasted bread for breakfast (without any jelly...

We stayed at the Inn 2 weeks ago for 2 evenings. It was an old inn with 6 rooms attached to a fabulous restaurant (probably the best in Boothbay Harbor). The Inn itself was nice, but could use some attention. The pros: 1. Charming old house 2. Clean rooms 3. Good size room - each with a Pvt. Bath 4....

Stayed here two nights and wish it was longer. The best words to describe the Thistle Inn are "charm" and "character". Just 6 guest rooms. We were in the Sherman Zwicker room on the second floor - roomy, with a very comfortable 4 poster bed, broad plank hardwood floor, large bathroom with a dressing area. Old fashion comfort! (Beware, a...

This older home could use a face lift (staircases could use fresh carpeting...) Still, room itself was clean, spacious and air conditioned, bathroom was clean and private. It is convenient location 3 blocks from center of this terrific tourist town. Breakfast was tasty, served at our private table atop white tablecloths. Each morning there was a choice of 2 entrees....

My wife and I stayed here in July. Neat old building with a bar on site (strong drinks). Easy walking to downtown and all the shops. There is a restaurant on site , however we ate in downtown both nights. There breakfasts were great. Lobster Benedict one morning and a great omelet the next. If you have trouble with stairs...

'Historical Inn' can be a bit of a mixed blessing. It could be an old building, full of charm, lovingly maintained by its owners. Or it could be an excuse for letting the building take care of itself. The Thistle felt like it was tending towards the latter just a little too much for comfort. The place certainly needed a...

We stayed at the Thistle Inn in May as well as 6 days ago. Our stay at the Inn both times was enjoyable and relaxing. The rooms are lovely and spacious. We were lucky to have had pleasantly cool days and nights( I am not a fan of hot weather). The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was modern and...

We arrived to check-in and couldn't park. The parking area for the inn is small and customers from the restaurant/bar park there too. We were told we arrived at "happy hour". The street has limited temporary parking and tow signs all around. So we left for dinner and returned to try again. It took three hours before we could park...
