Detailed Reviews
Spacious new cottage, with good lounge, a large double bed, good wardrobe space and a large and fully equipped kitchen.
Parking space and two chairs outside overlooking the Harbour just the opposite side of the road.
We went for the hiking package, which included transfer to and from hiking places (East Coast Trail) and full board.
You find in the fridge all you need to cook a good breakfast and your hiking sandwiches. Supper Is delivered at the cottage.
The owner is really a gourmet and she has chef skills.

We were a group of nine guys hiking the East Coast Trail. We stayed here for three night. We couldn't have been any happier with the accommodations and since we were on the hiking plan, the food. Shelley and Bernard were wonderful hosts. Bernard is a fisherman and for two dinners we were treated to the cod and snow crab he caught that was wonderfully prepared by Shelley. The location is convenient for hiking the ECT but also has a spectacular view!

For our 6 days of hiking the East Coast Trail we chose the Hiking Package offered by Shelley and Bernard at their Harbour House. We were struck by the spacious and comfortable 2 bedroom apartment which was immaculately clean and very attractively furnished including a well stocked refrigerator with mostly organic food. Everything that you'd need was there, in short it was a home away from home.
Shelley is a gourmet cook who sourced meals out of her wonderful garden together with fresh seafood caught by Bernard. When one of us started feeling feverish from an oncoming cold Shelley brought in a hot pot of chicken noodle soup with many healing herbs and saved our hiking adventure.
With the punctuality of a Swiss clock either Bernard or Shelley would drive us every hiking day to the trailhead and pick us up in the evening. During those rides we learnt a lot of history about Newfoundland or got help in choosing different hiking trails as our original plan of backpacking got changed by the prevailing weather conditions.
Comparing notes on our flight home we concluded that Shelley and Bernard's gracious hospitality and genuine care for our well being coupled with the sheer beauty of the land made our East Coast Trail adventure one of the most memorable vacations and we recommend Harbour Houseand the hiking package to all our hiking friends.

We stayed here earlier this month while hiking sections of the East Coast Trail. The apartment was lovely and had everything we needed. The fridge was well stocked with all the essentials and as we had booked the Hiking Package, Shelley provided us with excellent evening meals. She or Bernard dropped us off at the various trail heads each morning and were there to meet us and bring us home at the end of the day. Sitting on the front porch drinking a glass of wine and watching the world go by after a good days hike will be a memory I will hold onto for a very long time. If you are thinking of hiking in the area stay here, you will not regret it.

There were 10 of us and we booked the whole place. It was beautiful! 3 separate suites and 3 fully stocked kitchens. All of us we're so st home here and were sad to leave. Thanks so much Petty Harbour for making us feel at home. It's only 15 minutes from St, John's and it feels like miles away. Can't recommend it enough.
