We wanted to stay local for our anniversary so we chose this location due to its dog friendly atmosphere and proximity to areas we wished to visit. The hotel itself is very nice. Our room was not cleaned well. Upon arrival, we found a moldy banana and takeout in our fridge, a used cup in the shower and our dog kept finding food on the floor. Outside of this, we had a pleasant stay. There are literally no extras in the rooms right now, including coat hangars which was a bit of a pain. We had filled out a form prior to arriving on what extras we would like in there but nothing was in the room when we arrived. Bed was super comfortable.

Thank you for choosing the Brunswick Hotel for your special weekend trip. We sincerely apologize for the issues with your room; this is certainly not in keeping with our normal high standards, and not something that is commonplace. We hope you will give us a second chance to exceed your expectations the next time your travels bring you to the Brunswick area.

This location is so conveniently close to the campus and right at the top of Maine St., in walking distance to shops and restaurants. The rooms are very simple, beds and pillows are comfortable, courteous staff try their best to accommodate the guests. Worked perfectly for us.

I originally visited this hotel in the early nineties - it was memorable because of it’s proximity to the river and the laidback atmosphere...
That hasn’t changed, but the hotel beer garden has been transformed into a relaxed companionable and comfortable space dominated by trees and table umbrellas.

The food was typical of great pub food, and eclectic enough to please the most discerning, portions were on the plus side of adequate, and pricing was neither expensive nor cheap, but as expected from such a popular place

I’m a non-drinker but my companions enjoyed a selection of craft and boutique beers, refreshingly different...

Well worth this and many return visits...

I booked two rooms in this establishment in anticipation of attending a nearby wedding which was to have taken place in mid-August. Because of COVID19, I first had to first downsize my reservation to one room and, ultimately, cancel my remaining reservation. The first cancellation was in late June, and the second was in early July. To date, neither have been refunded. This establishment doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner, and I could not find a mechanism for cancelling efficiently on their website. When I have called, I have been told that it takes up to 30 days for a refund. However, but 30-days has come and gone, at least for the first cancellation, and no refund has been forth-coming.

I normally give great reviews but not this time!!! I travel world wide and it is rare I find a hotel with such promises of service but no actual service. If you want to experience and pay for the following - Trash left in room from previous guest, no restaurant (closed in August) despite nothing on website about that, no tavern, no breakfast except coffee and a muffin or yogurt passed over lobby desk from check in girl, stay in room 325 for the moldy red tinged shower curtain and no shower gel in dispensers, you do get one towel apiece, a heater that literally sounds like a truck running all night in your room, cold hallways, no in room amenities except a tv, no coffee, no pens, no paper no local ads nothing !!! It does have a attractive lobby but that all it has. I reccomend spending elsewhere.

Super nice staff- we had been on a trip from hell with mutiple flights delayed and cancelled before arriving. The staff had hot dinner waiting for us in the room right upon arrival after I had called in order. And the beverage manager, seeing that I was just fried and stressed, offered me an ice glass of wine on the house to go with dinner. Nice touch!!! Restaurant food was delicious and staff very friendly and food delivery was FAST! Rooms are nondescript and not decorated as cozily as one would expect from an Inn in such a quaint town in Maine, and some pieces of furniture were a bit beat up and slightly dated, but the rooms were roomy and very clean, and beds very comfortable. The lobby is really lovely, and looks very newly decorated, and restaurant as well. Would defnitely stay again. Just across the street from campus and a block or two from stores...you can't beat the convenience!

Dawnelle the day manager reached out to us via text (personal not robo) prior to our arrival to see what she could do to enhance our stay. I simply responded that we would appreciate an upper floor. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival to find out that we were upgraded to a huge suite. Not realizing that the summer season was over, it was not necessary but a wonderful gesture by the hotel. The room was unbelievably spacious, well appointed and clean. Large sitting/living room and two TV’s. We were so comfortable here. This was by far the nicest and our most favorite hotel that we stayed in on our recent 12-day New England trip, including a fairly prestigious hotel in Boston.

The continental breakfast and cookies in the evening were most appreciated. Josh was helpful in recommending dining suggestions on a night when most restaurants were closed. We would loved to have eaten at the on-site restaurant as locations in town we’re very limited. Bottom line, this was the nicest hotel and staff of any hotel on our recent trip with a very competitive rate. I would gladly stay here again and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

We recently spent 4 nights at this hotel and could not have been much happier. It is literally situated across the street from the Bowdoin College campus and within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants located on Maine Street. The rooms and facilities are well maintained and we found every employee encountered to be friendly. A complimentary continental breakfast is offered each morning and fresh baked cookies in the late afternoon. In addition, its central location allowed us to explore a number of towns along Maine’s mid-coast. The is little doubt that we will be returning.

Luckily our stay was only for one night because this property was a huge disappointment. The first room was disgusting with stains and remnants of crusty things that we prefer not to imagine what they are. They were found on the toilet seat, on the bed’s headboard and on the wall. See pictures! Not sure what The Brunswick Hotel’s protocol is for “room is ready” but whatever it is needs to be seriously amended. How does a property give the “all okay” when the room has easily viewable disgusting stains and crusty remains? The front desk woman came up after I called to see what was going on, and I showed her. She just said “oh” and gave me the room next to it. Her reply made me think this wasn’t unusual and she has seen worse! Now for the second room... the horror continued with dust, the bathroom light didn’t work, there was no coffee maker, the walls were dented and scratched, there was a clump of hair in the drain as well as hair follicles all over the bathtub and mildew/mold on the shower curtain. $139 for this? Are you kidding us?! This is like a comedy, and at this point, after driving 5 hours and fed up, I just cleaned on my own although my son refused to use the shower. The only two things this hotel has going for it is that it might be the closest to Bowdoin (across the street) and is located at the beginning of the shops on Maine Street. Dog Bar Jim: the Coffee Shop is only a block away and best coffee in Brunswick. Other than that, this hotel is a complete fail.

* Serious message to hotel, cleanliness should be your main priority not least, and ensure rooms are properly equipped and functional. Hoping we don’t return even though our son is at Bowdoin College.

We booked (and pre-paid) for a room in March at this establishment. Two weeks prior to our arrival, they left a voicemail message canceling our reservation. This is trip is during the height of first year students arriving in town to attend the local university; meaning the other hotels in town are were already booked by the time we we’re alerted (08.06.22).
We were told in the voicemail that a room was being held for us at another hotel; no information on whom to contact or how to follow up was provided. When we called the number on the other hotels website, they had absolutely no information about a room being held in our name.
Not only did The Brunswick not provide us with new accommodations, they left us stranded on short notice.

Thank you for inquiring, we do not have a pool. We do have a nice fitness center and we are located steps away from a lively downtown. We have an onsite Tavern that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we offer live entertainment outdoors on the patio where you can sip cocktails or local micro brews while sitting at one of our fire pits enjoying the great outdoors.
