What a beautiful property, lovingly restored, bright clean furnishings and delightful hosts. Thoroughly pleasant visit with friendly hospitality. Good stopping point for heading to the far down East or Canada Maritimes. I was visiting old haunts in the Machias area and it was a great place for comforting daybreaks and peaceful night rests.

Lovely time here while doing local tours. The innkeepers- Liz and Mike were attentive without being intrusive. Their breakfast each morning with coffee was outstanding. The rooms were spacious and we had a small fridge, which was nice. I would definitely go here again if in the area. Outstanding service, food, cleanliness, etc.

I visited with a friend and the room was large with a queen and full size bed. It was clean and well appointed. The Inn itself is a lovely restored historic residence. We went to hike and see the puffins in Cutler, so the location was about 20 minutes away and very convenient. Liz and Michael, owners/inn keepers, were hospitable, helpful and very accommodating. Breakfast was wonderful! I would highly recommend this property for a Maine getaway.

My wife and I were extremely pleased with staying at the Talbot House Inn under the extraordinary quality and generous hosting of Liz and Michael!!! We came up to Machias primarily to go see puffins (from Cutler Maine), do a little hiking, and get away from a big city. Not only were Liz and Michael the consummate hosts, providing extremely comfortable, tastefully-decorated rooms with all amenities, fantastic breakfasts, home made cookies, et al, but they were very friendly, genuinely interested, and gave us good suggestions for things to do. Visiting the Roosevelt family Campobello summer home in Canada nearby, was just one of the highlights they suggested, which we loved. Altogether, this was an incredible value. Thanks from Bob and Helena

I stayed at the Talbot House Inn 8 nights in June 2022,while traveling with 2 brothers and a friend. Liz and Michael welcomed us when we arrived and showed us around the Inn and to our rooms. They told us about the history of the house itself, which is on the Natl. Register of Historic Places, and let us know we were welcome to use the living room and library. Our rooms were lovely and comfortable, furnished as they might have been in the 1800s when the house was completed. Breakfast was something to look forward to every day. There was always a hot entree: Blueberry pancakes or a freshly baked quiche or stuffed french toast, bacon or sausage, and other accompaniments, fruit, juice and coffee. It was a beautiful place to stay, and our hosts went out of their way to be helpful, giving us suggestions of places and things to see and do, and maps and directions to get there. With two free nights, it was a more than excellent value!!! I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting downeast Maine! Thank you Liz and Michael!

First the disclaimer: we are retired Inn Keepers after 30 years with a Five Star graded 8 unit Victorian B&B Inn in Canada. We have stayed in many B&Bs over the years and finding The Talbot House Inn was a joy. Rarely have we enjoyed an overnight stay more (we were en route back to Canada so Machias wasn't a destination as such). Liz and Michael have created a sparkling version of what hospitality should be in an historic spacious 1870s property. The house is superb. All bases, modern and antique, are covered. Breakfast was served as a delicious and important start to the day. And pulling it all together are hosts Liz and Michael Henry who have lovingly created this hospitality home with their dedication and creativity. Would never stay in a cookie cutter type of motel, jostling for self-serve coffee when this exceptional alternative is nearby. It is worth more than they charge and you will leave enriched.

Nothing exceptional. Management was firm about this, and, not accommodating, to correct the billing of the room at checkout. Extremely disappointed that this was not discussed with me to assure all parties were in agreement. So as Customer Service goes in the Hospitality Business, it was lacking.

Carole, we are sorry you were not informed that your friend decided to pay for the 8 nights, with 2 of those nights free, a few days before you said you wanted to share the bill. We did not take a payment when you 1st came in and we did not know you would be upset that your friend paid. We did not know it was such a concern. Liz Henry

The most exquisite accommodations; over-the-top gracious and hospitable hosts who, also, created and lovingly served a delectably delicious and plentifully portioned breakfast (you won't leave hungry)!! The Inn is decorated and furnished to suit the era of it's origin. Awe-inspiring and pleasing to the eye in every corner you look! If you visit this gem, you will not leave disappointed. My husband and I vowed to tell all of our family and friends about our wonderful experience and share the joy! It doesn't hurt that it's located right in the middle of a gorgeous area with lots to see and do. Can't wait to return!

The Talbot House was a wonderful stay for our trip Down East. Very welcoming, warm and friendly, with a delicious breakfast to send us on our way. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean and protocols were in place to keep everyone safe. We would definitely stay again!

Our getaway to Talbot Inn, in East Machias was the highlight of our summer! It's location was ideal for Machias, Rogue Bluffs, Cutler, and Lubec region. The hospitality was outstanding! Michael and Liz made us feel welcome from beginning to end. The Inn was beautiful and well-kept. Our hosts shared the fascinating history of the property, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Bedrooms were spacious and full of character, with private modern bathroom, TV, mini-fridge, and coffee maker. There are several common areas to enjoy listening to music, gaming, chatting, or quietly reading in a comfortable nook. Staying here was an excellent value, too. A full, delicious breakfast was served in the morning and sustained us well into our day of exploring the Down East Coast.
