STOP. DO. NOT. BOOK. HERE. I am not being dramatic. The early reviews for Milliken House were great, but it has been sold and I CAN NOT be more explicit….. DO NOT STAY HERE. Now that I have HOPEFULLY gotten your attention, I will enumerate the reasons for my warning. PLEASE KNOW THAT EASTPORT IS LOVELY, THE PEOPLE THERE ARE WARM AND WELCOMING. With the exception of Pam, Owner and Operator of Milliken House and Old Sow Restaurant. Really, it’s unbelievable how inept this woman is. Don’t all AirBNBs have information???? Well, not here. Also, isn’t the definition of an B& B include breakfast??? Actually, I’m relieved there was no breakfast, as the kitchen was falling in. When I called for the booking, the owner, Pam, did not give me any information, confirmation or any way to communicate with her. I called the week before my stay and had a very hard time getting in touch with her. I offered an email, a credit card….anything to secure our reservation and to get information about our stay. Pam is not on site and has depended on the help from a long-term guest to see to other guest’s needs. This is without recompense. Victoria does this from the goodness of her heart. When you arrive, don’t expect a welcome, a hello or a kiss my ……. Ms. Frances is the most unwelcoming person I have ever encountered. Not only is she unwelcoming, she acted as though we were an inconvenience. The house, while lovely, is old and in disrepair, the rooms are bare bones. My room had a peeling ceiling. There was no soap, clean sheets, maybe?, old flat pillows, no extra blanket. There WAS a strange closet jammed with detritus that I blocked with a bench. It was creepy. I didn’t have a key to lock my door. I hid my belongings in the shower and took pictures of my other stuff to make sure it hadn’t been tampered with. Fortunately, the one night I was there was relatively warm, because there is no heat….. in Northern Maine. The whole place was just awful. No, not just awful, it was a travesty. Ms. Francis apparently acquired this property with no skill in managing properties. There have been no inspections of her property and she only accepts checks or cash………..WHICH WE FOUND OUT WHEN TRYING TO CHECK OUT.....over the phone of the dependable Victoria. The guests that left just before us ( who were booked for multiple nights and left after one) couldn’t get in touch with Pam and left her a note saying they would call her with a credit card. She wanted ME to go to a bank and get cash to pay for my stay. I should have been paid to stay there. I would not do that and dragged her info out of her so I could mail her a check when I get home. Why would someone with ZERO people skills, ZERO business sense and ZERO financial acuity try to run an B&B?? I have ideas, but hesitate to name them. I have other reviews and I hope you will see that I am always forthright and honest. DO NOT STAY HERE, DO NOT BOOK HERE. HOWEVER........... *** Visit Eastport!!! It is lovely and the residents are the BEST!!!

Mary and her son were very welcoming and accommodating. Their very lovely bed-and-breakfast is comfortable and conveniently located within easy walking distance of all the sites, and a great value. Eastport is a lovely seaport small town with rich history and a variety of activities. But the Milliken house capped off the visit with comfortable rooms and wonderful breakfasts made by Mary each morning, plus a very friendly atmosphere amongst all of the guests. The Milliken house should be your destination.

and their beautiful mother from Tennessee stopped by the visitor center in Castine and shared the ongoing saga of their travels in down east Maine. Eastport came up; we had been thinking of going; so, we went. Their trip was enhanced by recommendations of things to do and places to visit by the owner of the bed and breakfast, Mary. The stay was as advertised. Friendly folks from away and nearby chatted happily at breakfast. Eastport was an interesting visit. Just beware, they aren't kidding about the deer! we turned a corner after dinner and there was bambi, walking along unconcerned with us chewing someone's lawn. We could have reached out and grabbed his/her ear! Anyhow, the place had hot water and took plastic so we decided to stay. The decor was cosy if somewhat dated. It was fun to revisit a place I had previously visited by boat in 2012. Fresh seafood was plentiful. Shopping was fulfilling. A visit to a local wood carver fascinating. There was more to do than the day allocated allowed. But off to Campobello/Lubec and Cuttler. Stopped at Cobscook Bay State Park. Alas my camping days are over at the park had wonderfully private camp sites and interesting hiking. And it was loaded with Boy Scouts - a camporee was underway. Learned that the tick situation was minimized there as there was plenty of spruce grouse about to feed off the pests. It is a way to go; and road work on Rt 1 was a pain, even on Sunday. We took side trips to see light houses and the like. So, if staying in a comfortable BnB and poking about for a weekend in comfortable Maine are things you wish to do, then here's a place to go.

We had two delightful rooms in this magnificent Victorian House. The rooms were spacious , clean, and well furnished. The hostess and host could not have been more accommodating. The breakfasts were to die for with fine china and many choices. The house is located very close to downtown so getting around to see and enjoy all the sights. Huge thanks to Mary and Greg. Cheers

My wife and I stayed here over the Labor Day weekend. We were there to attend the wedding of our neice. After a delay at JFK airport, we arrived in Bangor and drove about 2 hours to the tiny town of Eastport. We arrived about 4 hours later than expected but Mary was there to welcome us to her B&B. We had not eaten dinner so she opened her kitchen and made us some sandwiches. Now that's service! This is a large beautiful home not far from the water. Easy walking to all attractions. We had the Sunrise room on the 3rd floor and it was charming. We had our own small bathroom, a comfortable bed and beautiful dormer windows. The house is a little dated but comfortable. There is a sweet syrup smell in the house that was a little unusual but not offensive. Our breakfasts were very good with the best blueberries we have ever had. Mary is a wonderful warm hostess and is a great source of Eastport history and facts.

Mary and Greg were terrific hosts - very attentive and accommodating. We had two room for four of us on the second floor - each with its own bathroom across the hall. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special. Mary would accommodate dietary desires and preferences. The MIlliken House is two blocks above the Main Street with shops and dining. 10 minute walk to just about anything Eastport has to offer. We went fishing for Mackerel on the Fundy Breeze and brought home fish for dinner. Mary very generously allowed us the use of her kitchen to prepare our meal. We enjoyed our short two night stay and would recommend it to others looking for comfortable accommodations at a reasonable price.

We have been travelling from Nova Scotia to Eastport for the Pirate Festival for the past four years and 2016 was the first time we were lucky enough to stay with Mary and Greg. They were wonderful, treated us like family and we couldn't have asked for better. The rooms were lovely and the breakfast was perfect! The best location for a stroll to the waterfront. Already booked for 2017.

The owner was a very accommodating host, nice homey feel in a great old victorian home. Breakfast was very good, host says it is not her fault if any one goes away hungry. Eastport in October is not really tourist season but we found it to be very nice.

This is a real one. A wonderful lady that opens her beautiful and big house for guests and cook them a nice typical breakfast. The house is clean and very nicely appointed, with a quirky taste. She prepares everything with a lot of care. The lady is very kind and accommodating. Her son has a wood work workshop and builds very nice bird houses that are priced at a very very convenient price. It is the place to go in Eastport, no doubt. Other guests whom we met having dinner at a pub downtown were also very pleased by that, about which they got to know through friends, and had stayed for a whole week when we met them.
