Cranston
Reviewed 29 May 2012

Captain Lord Mansion offers period antiques and reproductions by Leonards Antiques of Seekonk, Mass. The bathrooms have jetted tubs and heated marble floors. There are gas fireplaces in each bedroom for warmth and romance. Sue is the breakfast cook along with a very capable staff. The souffles are amazing, the Belgian waffles are decadant (in a good way) and the...

Dear Cranston, Thank you for your very supportive review. Some readers will think you are prejudiced. After eight visits, perhaps you are! Regardless, we are truly grateful for your loyalty and your frequent visits. We know we'll see you again soon as you work toward securing the engraved paver in our "Memory" garden walk. In 1979 we spent our honeymoon at the Captain Lord Mansion, we returned on our anniversary for the next ten years, then kids and life got in the way. We returned this May after too many years and it was like being home. The improvements they made have only enhanced the experience which was perfect before. The Inn is like...

Dear Methuen, Thank you for your review. Bev and are are so pleased to welcome you back after a hiatus of many years. Yes, we have made many improvements since your last visit; however, we are truly pleased that you report that the inn's warmth, service and hospitality are still key aspects of a visit here. My wife and i spent a week touring Maine. We spent two nights at the Captain Lord Mansion and fell in love with the B&B. The owner met us at the front door. We were immediately treated like family. We stayed in the Ophelia room which was perfect with a beautiful queen bed, a gas fireplace and lots of windows....

Dear Columbus, Thank you for your encouraging review. It is wonderful how our long-time frequent guests welcome newcomers to the inn and make them feel at home. Bev and I are thrilled that both our staff and other guests made your stay memorable. Perhaps you didn't know, but Bev worked in Columbus many years ago for McDonald's. Neither of us...

My husband and I have stayed in many B&Bs in different states and have never had a more wonderful experience. The rooms were beautiful. The grounds were beautiful. The breakfasts were amazing. The staff members could not have been nicer. It felt like they created a magical place where my husband and I could relax and reconnect. It broke our...

Dear Minneapolis, Wow! What a terrific review. Thank you. We wish, as you probably do, that you lived closer. We would be pleased to have you as regular guests working toward your engraved "Memory Garden" paver. We'll try to continue to provide that "Idyllic" escape for all our visitors this year. I just don't know where to start because we had the best experience and I would like to be sure to include all of it! We went for Mother's Day weekend which was wonderful because it was 'stay two nights and get Mother's Day free.' We didn't think we would be able to take advantage of the free night but...

My wife and I stayed at the Captain Lord Mansion for our 5 year anniversary. With a 2 year old daughter and another baby on the way, we needed a place that we could go and just share some time together as a couple rather than as "Mom and Dad". The Captain Lord Mansion was perfect! The amenities were better...

Staying at the Captain Lord Mansion was everything that we expected it to be and more. It was absolutely beautiful, relaxing, and comfortable. We really didn't want to leave. Dear Westbrook Maine, Thank you for your very thorough and thoughtful review of our inn. You touch on many areas of a guest experience that we believe set us apart from other lodging choices in the Kennebunks. Because Bev and I have been innkeepers for such a long time, we are especially heartened that younger guests are discovering the Captain...

This is a wonderful huge inn filled with antiques. Excellent service. Nice perks like on site spa services, nice wine selection you can order for your room, superb 3 course breakfast. Only thing that some patrons wouln't like: community breakfast. If you want a private breakfast with your loved one this is not the place.

Dear New Brunswick, That you for your review. You are correct about the breakfast not being intimate; however, the family-style breakfast is loved by most of our guests because you get to meet such interesting (and fascinating) people from all over the world. We appreciate your review and calling us a "lovely romantic inn". Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield
