Thank you so much to the staff of the Machias River Inn & manager Ryle. We had been on holiday for 8 days making our way up the east coast with Machias/Bold Coast being our last stop. Upon arriving we were greeted by Ryle who was promptly checking us in and giving recommendations for dinner. We checked into a beautiful room with a amazing king size bed along with a beautiful view of the river. Water pressure and temperature was great and the room smelled fresh and clean. My wife had forgotten her laptop charger at the previous hotel and Ryle was gracious enough to let us borrow his for the evening, we sat and chatted in the office for a bit and enjoyed every minute of it. We met Kim and Jessie two of the machias river inn’s housekeepers and they were true gems. Everyone is spoken highly here and I can see why! We will not hesitate to book again and hope to do so next year, thank you all for your willingness to help us and for being so accommodating!…
I had made reservations nine months in advance for two rooms for our stop between Bar Harbor and Campobello Island. All I knew ahead of time was that it was a motel near a river and I had low expectations. The young woman who checked us in was friendly and quick. When we opened the door to our ground floor room and saw the beautiful river view out the back, we knew we had made a great choice. The room was clean, quiet, and updated. I appreciated the details such as the grab bar in the shower, the Keurig coffeemaker, and the large historic Machias photo on the wall. There were several Adirondack chairs out back by the river, and we sat out there with binoculars and watched two bald eagles fly up into a tree across the river. We walked across the parking lot to Helen’s Restaurant for dinner and it was also wonderful. All in all, a really satisfying experience.…
Each room has a river view. Its an older place but has been updated, so the rooms are spacious and well appointed. The restaurant, Helens, I think, is right there in the parking lot and is excellent. Great reknowned pies, super duper burger. All of our group was happy with both.
Always accommodating as they can be; have been staying there frequently for work and during the summer has been hard to find a place local. They have fit us, thankfully. Not any government rate in Summer time.
Desk staff made check in easy. Rooms have been renovated recently. The renovation improved the rooms tremendously. I enjoyed a great view of the river. The adjacent restaurant added to the ease of my stay. I will definitely stay there again.
Motel has been fully renovated and rooms are very nice. There's a nice homestyle restaurant just steps away. Motel is on the river and back patio view is beautiful--fire pit and adirondack chairs are set up.
My wife and I travel up and down the east coast for pleasure, we just so happened to stumble upon a Facebook post advertising the Machias River Inn so we booked a room and made the trip..and it was worth it! We were greeted by a young man who happens to be the manager and was able to put us in a renovated room with a gorgeous view of the river. My wife went up stairs to drop off our bags while I spoke with the manager about the area and the property. He was helpful and friendly and went above and beyond what he needed to do for us when it came to connecting our devices to wifi as he even updated our computer for us. The rooms were spotless and you could smell how clean the rooms were. Every aspect of the room was incredible as we took in the beauty of our view. Our room was a stones throw away from Helens restaurant where we had dinner AND dessert. We will be back and we can not wait to do so! Thank you Machias River Inn for a great stay and good luck this summer.…
The room was recently renovated and spotlessly clean . Beautiful view on the river and staff were so accommodating . When i checkef out , i let the staff know one outlet appeared to be mot working - by the time i walked back to my car , they already had someone checking it out . Great service and care for the Inn . Well done !
My husband and I stayed overnight here during our 10th wedding anniversary getaway. They were very accommodating when we called to say we’d be late checking in. The room was newly renovated (with a great view of the Machias River) and spotlessly clean, and the water pressure in the shower was fabulous! Having Helen’s next door is always a welcome bonus. I would safely say we will stay here again anytime we come through Machias. Thank you all so very much!
Wow! Our room was HUGE and right on the water. It's definitely very old, maybe a little run down, but overall just fine! We had a HUGE living / bedroom area with 2 small beds (twin or queen) and a recliner. I had to sleep in the recliner, as these are not 2-person beds and there were 3 of us. The tub/shower were fine, decent water pressure and temp control. The room was mostly clean. The full-sized kitchen had a full-sized fridge, and plenty of cooking utensils, dishes and other basics. Very handy. Though -the fridge did not work. Def recommend lots of ice and nothing too perishable. We made the mistake of putting yogurt in it ... gross!
