Best prices in the greater Bangor/Orono/Milford area. Exactly what a locally owned motel would be. Clean motel and feels safe. Comfortable bed. Cleanest bathroom. Cool folksy decoration. Very nice owners!

The owner, Jayne and her staff were wonderful and provided a very well maintained room with great accomidations; all at a very reasonable rate. This is the best motel we stayed in during our 10 day trip throughout Maine.

We stayed at The Motel for a few nights this week. The room & property were very clean. The suite was cozy and had recently been updated. The owner was kind and accommodating. We have already booked our next stay.

Nice to see an old location get upgrades rather than tossed aside and rebuilt. A big reason for this is Jayne and her husband Larry. Most likely you will talk with Jayne and find a warm, inviting person ready to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They even gave us a card for our anniversary! Knowledgeable about the local area, too. Ask questions about what is around and she'll help you out. The view over the river is nice too! Highly recommend.

During this crazy time it was nice to find such a peaceful retreat. From the breathtaking view off of my balcony of the Penobscot River, to the old school tea kettle on the stove in the mini-kitchen, this place offered a peaceful retreat for this weary traveler. Clean rooms, comfy bed, and very pleasant staff. Highly recommend!

The location was ok, the view of the river was very pretty, especially in the sun. We were "upgraded" to a room with 3 beds, but there's only 2 of us and we're married so that wasn't necessary. There was a decent sized kitchen, but we don't cook at a hotel when on vacation so also not necessary. The lady who checked us in was friendly. We had to wait for our room to be ready as the housekeeper was still cleaning even tho check in is at 2pm and we arrived around 3:30. We stayed 2 nights and the 2nd day we weren't given any new coffee or creams. There is no breakfast of any kind here. The travel site claimed free bottled water but we received none. The hotel is incredibly thin walled, and the very rude guests around us stomped up and down the stairs and back and forth on the walkway for HOURS. They also woke at 5a.m. and practically bellowed their conversation for hours complaining about their wives and other things we didn't want to hear about (but could hear everything as if they were in our room). So needles to say we got zero sleep here. The room itself was ok, felt more like staying at someone's apt. than a motel as nothing really matched. Towels were insanely this and thread bare. None of the toiletries matched, looked like maybe leftovers from other travelers. The bike decor was cute. There was a spider on the bedroom lamp, and a large unknown bug crawled up the wall while we were watching tv. This place would be fine for people who don't like quiet, but definitely not for us. At almost a hundred a night we feel ripped off.

Response from Jayne Z, Owner at Milford Motel on the River
Responded 23 Oct 2019
We apologize for your frustration and disappointment on your recent stay at our property. We were unaware that you were experiencing a poor stay, until the morning you checked-out, and mentioned that it was noisy, I could of easily rectified the problem, if known. After you left we investigated the loud noises and eliminated the problem and other issues. Afterwards there was a couple with a toddler that stayed in that room for four nights, in which they had a peaceful stay. Our staff takes pride in our rooms and are vested in our guest experiences. We have many guests that have stayed in that guest room and have requested that particular unit over and over, because they like that homey feel. There is many variety and styles of guest room on our property and no two are alike. We take request for extra towels and coffee any time, we get ongoing shipment for new towels, coffee, and toiletries. We currently have a couple staying in a upstair unit and expressed that they are enjoying their stay, the only thing that bothers them is that it is so quiet, so they went out and purchased a Honeywell sleep sound machine, add noise in order to sleep. A reminder we are located near a river and nature. We hope that if your visiting Maine for second time ,that you give us another chance, for a more peaceful stay!

We stayed at the Milford on the River for a visit to Indian Island and the Penobscot Indian Museum. The receptionist was friendly and even went out to get a non-slip bath mat for me. Nice view of the river from our 2nd story balcony.

I took a chance, not knowing the hotel and it exceeded my expectations for a one-night stopover. The reception, Jayne and her husband, were very friendly and not bothered by our late arrival. She even called later to see if the room was okay. It was very clean, bathroom seemed new, and they did not forget a single detail, including some nice touches like chocolates. It had everything I needed in the mini kitchen. And I loved the little deck looking out over the river. I would really recommend this hotel, just past Bangor.

I was looking for a two bedroom suite and this room didn’t disappoint. This was a very clean room. It was nice the kids and adults had their own space. Appliances were newer. There was a small deck with a view of the river. The motel was less than 10 minutes from the mall and only a few from the college. And lastly and most importantly it was affordable.
