University Inn is my favorite place to stay in the Bangor area. The staff is helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean, breakfast is great and it's quiet. There are good restaurants in the area. I'll be back!
This is a very clean hotel in the heart of Orono Maine. If you are coming to visit UMaine for any reason, this is the place to say. Walking distance to the campus and walking distance to downtown Orono. Where you will find a bunch...More
Clean room, comfy bed and filling breakfast. Even a little workout room. My sister and I had an errand in Bangor (purchase of a new violin!) and a visit with my son at UMO. The Inn is within walking distance to pubs, restaurants and our...More

The campus is quite safe. Police on campus and in the town of Orono are always out patrolling the area and there are emergency beacons throughout campus (with a dedicated 24/7 campus police force as well). Orono, by and large, has a pretty low crime rate.
Cold weather on campus affects student life in the same way it would anywhere else. Though there is a shuttle that services campus, freedom to travel to off-campus locations is pretty limited without a car. As such, winter driving can be an issue if you are not familiar with driving in the snow. Regardless, the roads are pretty well taken care of, especially on campus.
Thank you for your interest in our beautiful town!
