Attended a football game at U Maine. Hotel is right down the street from the school. Rooms were very clean, neat and up-to-date. Check-in was easy. Complimentary coffee in the morning. Would definitely stay here again.
This was our 4th or 5th stay at the University Inn Academic Suites in Orono, Me. This visit, like each of the previous visits, was wonderful. The location is perfect if visiting The University of Maine. The rooms are clean and comfortable and offer Keurig...More
We stayed here for 3 nights (Sept 8/9/10). We had an upstairs room overlooking the beautiful Stillwater River. It was hot so we relaxed by the pool and went for a swim too. We love the location as we can walk into town to a...More

The campus is quite safe. Police on campus and in the town of Orono are always out patrolling the area and there are emergency beacons throughout campus (with a dedicated 24/7 campus police force as well). Orono, by and large, has a pretty low crime rate.
Cold weather on campus affects student life in the same way it would anywhere else. Though there is a shuttle that services campus, freedom to travel to off-campus locations is pretty limited without a car. As such, winter driving can be an issue if you are not familiar with driving in the snow. Regardless, the roads are pretty well taken care of, especially on campus.
Thank you for your interest in our beautiful town!
