We stayed their after attending a concert at Collins Center for the Arts, we got a discount for having a membership at the CCA, which is wonderful.
We had booked two king rooms but when we got there and they saw that we were with my parents and my father was walking with a cane, quickly asked us if we would rather have a room much closer to the door, we said absolutely. There room ended up bring a handicap accessible room which worked out perfectly for them. We loved our king room which had laminate flooring which we find seems cleaner. Breakfast was very good. We were very pleased all the way around.

Stayed at this hotel while on a college visit to the nearby University of Maine. It was conveniently located near the college and near several dining options. While the hotel was not super fancy, it definitely seemed nicer than most hotels I've stayed at in this price range. It was evident that they put a lot of effort into decorating the grounds for the fall season (pumpkins, etc.) and the black bear theme throughout the hotel was a nice touch. The breakfast options were also better than you normally get. It included the usual standard bagels, cereal, etc., but also offered premade breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit, and some sort of french toast bake (?) that my daughter particularly liked. It was a little bit of a drive (about an hour and 20 minutes), but we made a couple of day trips into Acadia National Park. Staying in the Bar Harbor area in a similar quality hotel cost twice as much so we didn't mind making the longer drive in. We will definitely stay here again on future visits should our daughter decide to go to UMaine!

We stayed in the king honeymoon suite with in-room jacuzzi &massage chair and what a beautiful room it is!!! Clean, spacious, friendly staff, Close to a cinema. Will definitely be staying again.
We also purchased the black bear stuff animal in our room to bring home as a anniversary souvenir.
Our only setback was loud music playing until well past 11pm, I inquired about it and was told there was a benefit happening in one of the banquet rooms on the first floor (we were on the third floor). As this being our relaxing getaway I wish we didn’t have to listen to the music’s bass half the night.
Overall, we loved it here and plan on spending more anniversaries in this same room.

The room was nice we were very disappointed that the bathroom was smoked in prior to our arrival. We are not smokers and the honey moon sweet is not a smoking room. The smell was so bad we couldn’t use the towels in the bathroom or the shower. The jacuzzi tub was nice and spacious room. Overall for the price we would not return.

We visited our granddaughter who is a UMaine freshman for a long Easter weekend We booked 2 rooms at The Black Bear Inn and were pleased with our choice. The Inn was clean and welcoming. It was a great location for a campus visit Owen at the front desk was both friendly and efficient. This was our first trip since the pandemic and we were made to feel safe and comfortable We will be back for future visits and will also recommend staying at the inn to family and friends

Stayed here for graduation weekend. Plenty of parking and close to I-95. Front desk was very courteous and pleasant. The rooms were clean and larger than an average hotel room. Beds and pillows were very comfortable and hot water was plentiful even in the morning hours. Each room has individual heater/cooler. They had information that there would be no maid service during our stay, but we could leave a form provided outside the room with items that we needed. Since we were 2 adults staying for 3 nights, it was not a problem. Breakfast was good - Belgian waffles, cereal, bagels, muffins, yoghurt, egg and cheese and bacon in English muffins, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, etc. They had a toaster for the bagels, but it would have been nice if they had a few slices of bread to toast too. Overall a very nice stay and we will stay here if we visit again.

the room was very clean and neat laid out well and the couches were oddly comfortable. They looked stiff, but you could relax easily. 2 televisions in the room, one for the bedroom side, and one for the living room side. By the way we chose the honeymoon suite due to the hot tub. My only issue is the controls on the hot tub were so far away from the hot tub. This was a bad design and if they could have moved the controls within reach of the hot tub, it would make things much nicer. You had to get out to shut them off, and this was a pain. Besides that, the stay was very nice. We did not eat there, and ordered Olive Garden which we brought with us. The Staff were very considerate because we had a service dog,(small service dog- Chihuahua). Thank you for the considerations and accommodations.

I stayed overnight at the Black Bear Inn and Conference Center. There aren't many hotels in Orono, so this was a pleasant surprise. It appears to be an okder hotel that was updated. Some of the fixtures are older but clean and well kept. We had a room with 2 double beds, not huge but big enough for a small table and chair, as well as a desk. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the guy who answered the phone and checked me in (Jacob?). It is a "pet friendly " hotel for $25 but smelled fine and was very clean. The breakfast was basic waffles, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches that could be warmed. Close to the University of Maine Orono and Bangor, it was perfect for my needs. There was ample room for taking our dog for a walk, and they offered pet waste bags if needed. If you have allergies, etc, make sure you request a non pet friendly room (my room was pet friendly before I even asked about it. It worked out, but if I had allergies, it may have been a problem. I would also suggest to Management to keep a supply of wipes by the doors. It had been raining when I went out, I wiped my dog down before I went back in but I don’t know that everyone would think to do so.

My husband and I took a break for a 3-day, 2-night visit to central Maine. We hiked in the Bangor City Forest, drove to stand across from Canada (still closed) in Calais, Maine, strolled the foggy beach at Roque Bluffs near Machias, spent a day on the beautiful peninsula surrounding Blue Hill, Maine, and walked the campus of the University of Maine in Orono. We relaxed both nights in a spacious room at the Black Bear Inn. Its convenient location let us wander, and we appreciated the in-room fridge for keeping our sandwiches & wine & cheese cold, and the microwave for heating our takeout dinner the night we got back too late to eat out. Great spot. Has a few outdoor tables, too, for those warm evenings.

Stayed over here for one night after touring UMaine with my daughter. It's a clean and comfortable place with free breakfast. Room was clean overall, however, bottles of complementary hygiene products (shampoo and body wash) very small (barely enough for one person) so may want to bring your own. Towels old and kind of threadbare. Lodging was fine for what we needed.
