We were promptly greeted upon arrival and were upgraded to a better room. we received a coupon for two complimentary Proseccos which were a great way to wind down. The room (Back Bay) was roomy, comfortable, clean and appeared freshly painted. The location was ideal and there was ample off-street parking. the only disappointment was the included champagne breakfast that...

Everything was great about this place. The staff were incredible and very hospitable and attentive to every detail. The dinner and breakfast were special and different from your normal everyday cuisine. My only complaint and it's really small is there selection of Red Wines by the glass. They were limited and the ones they had in my wine snobbery opinion...

We spent last weekend enjoying Portland and the Danforth Inn. First, the inn is lovely. Fantastic decor and art throughout, including in the rooms We ate dinner at the restaurant, which was superb. The neighborhood is fun to explore, and is a short walk to the shopping/restaurant districts. The bar is a great room to hang out in day or...

Beautiful chic Inn. Great people and amazing food. Also stayed at the sister property in Camden which was wonderful also. Fine dining in an elegant modern setting. I would defiantly revisit either of these properties if we are back in this area again.

We visit Portland each spring and enjoy the bnb's. We have stayed at most of them and have returned to only this one. They mind the details. Though we would prefer yet another level of detail - more vegan choices. Yes, they had a vegan voice each breakfast - but just one. They were just 3 entree choices for breakfast...

The Danforth has class, charm and elegance. The service is excellent. The managers are incredibly helpful and so kind. It's a bit outside of downtown, so very private and quiet. Perfect for a weekend away. We drove downtown and parked for day. You could walk, but if you are shopping and out for the day, it's better to drive.

I just loved this hotel. It is charming, comfortable, sophisticated- just wonderful! The room we had is quite old in style but with modern comfort. Beautifully appointed. Lots of little touches that made us feel truly welcome. We slept really well. Breakfast was delicious. Not the normal fry up but fresh and interesting. We really enjoyed it. The service was...

We only came to Portland for one night, but our stay at the Danforth was a big part of making the trip one of our favorite in recent memory. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, the room very comfortable and charming, and the entire atmosphere of the place is welcoming and comfortable, with a great mix of old-time charm...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Danforth is the grande dame of the Portland, Maine boutique hotel scene. Basement billiard room, a widow's walk with views, three course breakfasts - who could ask for more? A recent review called The Danforth an historic mansion with a hip vibe. ... more   less
