Pear and Sven were very warm and made us feel welcome to a relaxing night. The rooms were clean and well appointed and the ammentities were wonderful. The included breakfast had great selections and well prepared. A great place to relax and to be pampered.

From Tim to Pare, we had a wonderful weekend. Breakfast was outstanding, lobster and fried rice? Delicious. The weather was the icy on the cake. What a wonderful weekend. We had reservations at Grace and Boone's and if not we would have loved to have dined in-house....next year, definitely!

Room was comfortable, although the bed was a little too soft for us (there was a pillow top on top of the mattress); we appreciated having two comfortable chairs to sit in. The breakfasts were delicious, and came with our own personalized menus. The best part of the stay was the welcoming and very helpful staff (Pear & Tim), who...

Old charm, modern updates. This is a boutique-like bed and breakfast. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and breakfast was wonderful. Guest book comments from another visitor mentioned an "encounter" in the billiards room downstairs, but I never met any spirits. Located on quiet street and convenient to walk downtown.

Hello trip advisors!! General: Visiting here was exquisite. Upon arrival we were greeted with enthusiasm by Tim the Innkeeper. And immediately, any feelings of possibly being let down were washed away. You must be a bit prepared to be pampered and take your time with it here. Perfection is a process, and the owners and staff at the Danforth make...

Every year for the Christmas holidays my husband and I visit his family in Gardiner Maine and we have just established a new tradition of spending one night in The Danforth before heading up. We lounge in the living room/bar for pre-dinner drinks while we do our last bit online shopping. We then shuffle one room over to dine hotel's...

My husband and I were getting away for our annual "honeymoon" and found The Danforth online. A perfect gem of a place. The staff were fabulous form beginning to end. A welcoming email a few day before asking if there were any reservations we wanted them to make for us, any special requests - extremely prompt responses followed. Upon arrival,...

We have nothing but praise for the staff and service we received. The food was excellent and I'll never be able to eat another "regular" pancake again. Hospitality made us feel like we were long lost friends. Location is close to downtown Portland and all that comes with that.

The Danforth is the grande dame of the Portland, Maine boutique hotel scene. Basement billiard room, a widow's walk with views, three course breakfasts - who could ask for more? A recent review called The Danforth an historic mansion with a hip vibe. ... more   less
