We planned to spend John's, my husband, birthday in Maine. We have friends who live in Union and as neither of us had ever been to Maine, John decided that he wanted to spend his birthday, Sept 1st, with our friends there. By chance on the internet, John made our reservations at Caption Lindsey House Inn. He could not have... More

Our second visit to Captain Lindsey House Inn has been as comfortable and relaxing as last year's, and we'll hope to stay there again next year. The Inn occupies a sea captain's house built in 1835, and is a minute from Rockland Harbor, where the ferry docks, and just off the main street. The owner and staff are wonderful, the... More

The room was beautiful with comfortable sheets, pillows. Every room has its own air conditioner for temperature control. The bathroom was a nice size. The breakfast the next day included fresh omelets (lobster or veggie), fresh breads, yogurt and fruit. They have fruit out for snacks during the day and cold water available all day. It was a great place... More

A beautiful old house with an updated feel. The public rooms are attractive and include paintings (which are for sale) by local artists -- like having a little gallery right in the building. The rooms are very comfortable and freshly decorated with items that evoke the seaside and history of the area without seeming cutesy or dated. Breakfast was terrific... More

We have stayed at two other inns in Rockland, but despite being in impressive Victorian era homes, they were a little too stuffy/feminine for us. The Lindsey is an interesting building, and it's located just off Main Street (near all the bars/restaurants, Farnsworth Museum etc.) We had a spacious, stylish, king room on the first floor (the only noise issue... Thank you for your review - we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We are glad you enjoy the more contemporary feel - we are definitely not your grandmother's B&B but we are hearing a lot of our guests appreciate it. Come back and stay with us again soon! More

This was my 3rd year staying at this Inn. My first under the new ownership with the new innkeeper Mary. While I liked it the prior 2 years this was by far the best year ever! I can't say enough about Mary and her staff. Every last detail was thought of before we even asked. The back deck is like... More

Positives: Nicely furnished rooms; neat, unfussy decor. Cleanliness was good except a previous guest's soap was in the shower; comfortable bed. Hot breakfast was average but goods from local bakery and dairy were excellent. Very nice back garden area for a glass of wine or breakfast. Negatives: While inn is smoke-free, innkeeper who greeted us smelled strongly of cigarette smoke... More

My wife and I enjoy 3 wonderful days at the Captain Lindsey House Inn. The service was great, the room was great, and the food was great. They went out of their way to make our trip special. I would recommend this inn to any and all.

On a family vacation with my two young children and husband when we booked a room via a travel site a week prior. My husband and I stayed at this bed and breakfast for 2 nights. The rooms were lovely and the bed was so comfortable. The whole house was beautifully maintained and had multiple common areas, indoors and out, for us to enjoy.
