My wife and I stayed for two nights while we visited Acadia NP. The owners have done a wonderful job restoring this historic home. The owners are extremely friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The best surprise was the three course gourmet breakfast prepared by the owners.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and just loved it! All rooms are themed based on city which is unique...decor overall is so antiquely and lovely, there was a wine and cheese happy hour when we arrived which was low-key and nice to chat with other guests; breakfast was divine and hosts are friendly without being over-bearing. Great location too...

Our bedroom was extremely small, the mattress was WAY too soft and offered no support, the overhead light was difficult to reach as it operated with a pull chain that was too high for me, the bathroom was huge but the light switch was on the far side of the bathroom and there was no night light. The bathroom light...

My husband and I stayed here last night. It was our first time staying at a B and B type of inn. I didn't know what to expect but read the great reviews so thought we would give it a try, for a romantic weekend. Wow so glad I did! It felt a little awkward at first because I had...

My husband and I stayed here after a day in Bar Harbor. We stayed in the Port of Paris room. Which was beautiful. Since this Inn was formerly the home of a ship Capt. each room has a Port theme! The Innkeepers, Mike & Linda, are very personable and wonderful host. The breakfast was delicious. Starter was yogurt with fruit,...

We stayed a night during our trip up the coast of Maine. The Inn is beautiful and breakfast the next morning was amazing. The owners are such nice people. We took some wonderful photo's of the Inn and grounds. The only thing missing from our experience was not being able to have dinner there.

We stayed a night recently and had a wonderful experience! Great place to see a bit of historical seaside Maine in Searsport. The staff is really great and knowledgeable about the history of the house and area which really added to our stay! Loved the 3 course breakfast -one of the most unique dining and inn experiences we've ever had!...

We stayed one night during a road trip to northern Maine. It was apparently the very last weekend before the owners buttoned it up for the winter. Unfortunately, the restaurant had just closed for the season the previous weekend, because if the breakfast is any indication, the restaurant must be fabulous. We've stayed in several B&Be over the years, and...

My wife and I stayed at Captain A.V. Nickels Inn on 10/10/15 and 10/11/15. The Inn is beautiful and the owners are friendly and accommodating. Our room was The Port of Portofino. It is a two bedroom suite with large bathroom, clawfoot tub, and large walk in shower. It was nicely decorated in period type furnishings and gave you plenty...

All I can say is WOW! The service was wonderful and the bartender the BEST. He was very outgoing and spoke with the customers. We felt at home. The lobster was the best also. I am not a fan of lobster but would eat it everyday served like this. We sat in the bar area with only 8 other guests....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Captain A.V. Nickels Inn offers luxury accommodations in an historic setting. The Inn, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1874 by Captain Nickels as a gift to his bride. It is a breathtaking building sitting on 3 meandering acres directly on the island-studded Penobscot Bay about halfway between the beautiful towns of Camden and Bar Harbor. The Inn is often cited as one of the most photographed inns on the Maine coast and "creates a memory" for each guest who is treated to a level of luxury and attention to detail usually only seen in exclusive small hotels or inns in Europe. All rooms are furnished with European and American antiques, art, china and decorative touches creating the sophisticated air of a fine country home. Roaring fires on cool evenings, wicker on the lovely front porch, and lawn furniture by the water adds ambiance that invites guests to relax a while and enjoy the beautiful views from expansive windows or from the large decks overlooking the property. Two restaurants on site serve guests well by offering a large selection of locally sourced food (some grown right in our own gardens) expertly prepared by our chef. The bar is well stocked with a large selection of wines and our bartender is always ready to mix our signature cocktails. Common areas include two sitting rooms, a library, a lounge, a dining room, a breakfast conservatory, a ballroom, and a loggia with views to the Bay. Evening wine and cheese is served to all guests. After having slept in spacious suites beautifully furnished with antiques and sumptuous beds, overnight guests awake to the site of the sunrise across the bay and will enjoy a gourmet mimosa breakfast in the Inn's sunlit breakfast conservatory. The murmur of waves from the Bay and wonderful sea air enhance the restful atmosphere. All rooms have private baths, flat screen TVs, wireless internet capabilities, coffee/tea service, and luxurious bath amenities. Some have electric fire places. ... more   less
