We have been coming to Acadia for many years and we only stay at the Seawall Motel. Dave and staff (including Speedbump) are the best hosts we have ever had anywhere. The location is also exceptional since we can walk to the seawall in one minute and see many birds and other sea organisms. There are woodland birds close by...

We loved our stay at Seawall. Booking our stay at Seawall and driving there up Sargent Drive gave us opportunity to further explore Mount Desert Island, see the only fjord on the Atlantic Coast. When we arrived late it was like coming home. Small, cozy, very personal and staff at Seawall was very hospitable and helpful with dinner suggestions. We...

We just loved the hospitality of the staff at Seawall! It does not have the amenities of larger hotels (air conditioning, valet parking, pricy in house restaurants etc.) but it has things money can't buy~ personal service and hospitality! We had and unusual situation and the staff were very accommodating and warm as they gave us the support we needed....

I loved our stay at the Seawall Motel! As others have said, it meticulously, spotlessly clean and everyone who works there is warm, friendly and helpful, and the guests we met were welcoming and warm and respectful; very quiet at night. It is not fancy, but it has everything you need to be comfortable, and I like that. The rooms...

This is a no frills motel. However, it has large clean rooms, nice bathroom with tons of hooks, great shower, table with two chairs in the rooms, desk for your computer and best of all, a beautiful view. You can have the windows open front and back so there is nice ventilation. The only downside is that the walls are...

Seawall Motel is an excellent motel just outside of Acadia National Park on Mt Desert Island in Maine. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The staff is wonderful - Theresa, the office manager, is very pleasant and great to talk to; and the resident cat, Speedbump, provides comic relief and a very nice distraction. In fact, the entire staff...

Nothing fancy but everything you need for a quiet hiking, kayaking, bicycling vacation in one of the nation's most beautiful parks. The owners and staff were super friendly and helpful, the rooms were spotless, and there was a nice camaraderie among the guests. We all were there to enjoy a slower pace than you might find in Bar Harbor. We...

Very clean older motel in a lovely location. The ocean is right across the street. After spending a few hours in Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle. A word of caution for light sleepers, the walls are very thin. We could here the tv in the next unit. Also, they are building new...

Clean. Quiet. A stone's throw from the ocean. The Seawall campground ranger station is nearby where you can pay for your Acadia Park pass to avoid lines. Close to Thurston's for a great dinner and Grumpy's for a great breakfast. All motel staff were very friendly and very helpful.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our first trip to Acadia and it was amazing. I wasn't sure how this side of the island would compare to the Bar Island side, but I loved it so much more. The hotel had great views of the natural seawall - we could sit on the balcony right outside our second floor...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Seawall Motel is located on the quietside of Mount Desert Island in the Southwest Harbor area. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Motel borders the Seawall entrance to Acadia National Park. It adjoins a pine forest and a fresh water pond which provides ample opportunities for birdwatching and scenic photography. The Seawall is a naturally occurring granite, loose boulder and rock seawall with easy shore walks and tide pools to explore. There is a picnic area to watch the waves crash on the rugged shoreline and a spot to watch the sunrise over the Great Cranberry Island. On a clear night, it is one of the best places in the country for stargazing. Just beyond the scenic areas, you'll approach two of the many walking trails of Acadia National Park: Ship Harbor and Wonderland. Each is less than a two-mile hike along the ocean and nature trails. A short drive from these trails is the Bass Harbor Lighthouse that has been guiding mariners with its light since 1858. The dramatic setting, especially at sunset, is a photographer's dream. The Seawall Motel sits directly across from the famed seawall and close proximity to many activities of what the park has to offer. It is a two-story Motel with free Wi-Fi, in-room phones, cable TV and complimentary continental breakfast. These budget-friendly motels has twenty spacious, comfortable, and exquisitely clean rooms with a choice of two-queens or king size beds. A community room is available for all guests to use which includes the vending and ice machine, refrigerator, microwave, and coin-operated laundry machines. The free Island Explorer Shuttle can be accessed from our parking lot for easy travel to restaurants and shops in downtown Southwest Harbor, and to many other locations on the island. Top-rated in TripAdvisor, the Seawall Motel is the perfect place for your Maine vacation! Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the wonderful staff, and freshly brewed coffee ready for you every morning! ... more   less
