I came to this wonderful place on the basis of earlier reviews, but wow was I ever surprised and exhilarated! I arrived just as the seasons were shifting - it was getting very cold and dark in Maine. I knew how glorious the mid-coast was, but I was yet to find out that one's place on the coast, where one...

This B&B is directly off Route 1 on your way to Rockland. Could be easier to find off Kaler's Corner if the sign were better situated though. The hosts are very nice and make a great breakfast. Generally only one parking spot per room, which could be an issue for some. We were lucky in that one room was empty...

What could be better? A delightful breakfast of duck egg, sausage, potatoes and fresh herbs from the garden prepared by the skillful hand of Dominka. Our hosts were genuinely warm and friendly which accounts for the delightful and interesting guest they attract. Lots of good conversation, laughter and wonderful sleeping accommodations in a small hamlet tucked away in the pines...

Great hosts, helpful advice on places to visit, delicious food, lovely breakfast conversations. The place feels like home, we had a great time visiting Waldoboro and exploring Maine's midcoast. Memorable stay!

Le Vatout is a well-situated bed and breakfast run by extremely friendly and helpful hosts. Dominka was obviously knowledgeable of the area around Waldoboro and gave us suggestions that lead to a wonderful and remarkable stay in midcoastal Maine. Furthermore, she was an excellent cook who was mindful of dietary needs and restrictions (not that we had any). She used...

We stayed at La Vatout for four nights and could not have been happier! The hosts are delightful people, so interesting to talk to, and their B&B is warm and welcoming with a gorgeous garden in the back- a respite for weary travelers. The only thing that surpasses the wealth of knowledge about the area, and beyond, is the food....

We stayed 5 nights and had a wonderful time. The hospitality of the hosts was amazing. They took the time to explain the differrent activities in the area and help us plans our daily events. The breakfasts are amazing, with a different one served each day. From wild picked mushrooms, garden fresh herbs to home made sausages, everything was delicious....

We stayed at Le Vatout a few nights ago and had a great experience. Close to Rockland, this B&B was very reasonably priced while still being close to lots of sights and restaurants. When we arrived, we were provided with several dinner recommendations (and they were spot on!). That night, the room was clean, comfortable, and cozy. The only thing...

I have a house on the coast in Maine (in Waldoboro) and we had closed it up for the winter, meaning no heat etc, but a friend and I were coming up from the Boston area to do some garden work and some light Spring cleaning and we needed a place to stay. We stayed at Le Vatout and it...

Great B&B !!!! Dominika and Linda are so welcoming and helpful. Truly wonderful hosts. We stayed one night in the Robin Room. The bed is very comfortable. The room is quiet. I wish we could have stayed longer. It was so cozy and charming AND filled with an amazing collection of books. I would love to come back again and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cozy, low-key and completely relaxed, Le Vatout is just different enough to delight. A traditional New England farmhouse on the craggy shoreline of midcoast Maine, it has spectacular gardens and is filled with art and books by its owners, a writer and an artist. Life congregates in the kitchen where meals have substance, flavors have a twist, and old-fashioned conversation reigns. What matters here is not appearance, what matters here is soul. ... more   less

“We stayed in the Robin Room, which had a comfortable queen-sized bed and private bathroom. The other two rooms on the second floor had two twin-sized beds each, and were much sunnier, but I believe they had to share a bathroom.”
