The beautiful restoration of the Gunter Hotel is well worth a visit.
A couple of quirks need to be worked out: getting help with the luggage when parking (short-term in front at a a parking meter; overnight out back in the fenced yard).

This hotel was just fantastic. We had a scout group cycling the C&O and GAP trails and overnighted in Frostburg. This hotel was simply wonderful - full of history, nicely decorated rooms and full of character.
Staff and owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Yes they do have free parking in a parking lot at the back of the hotel. You would then enter the hotel in the back door on a lower level and go through a very interesting area that is a museum on your way to the elevator taking you to the main lobby. They do not have a pool or hot tub but that was not important to us. The age, design, and history of this old hotel was the important things and we were not disappointed.
