Love this hotel. Stayed there last weekend. So very excited to meet the new owner and talk with him about the renovations he has planned. We have been staying there whenever we are in Frostburg (off and on for the last 21 years). James has some amazing plans to include opening a restaurant and a bar (in December 2016). He... More

Beautiful, under renovation but the room was beautiful, comfortable and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed two nights I wish it could have been longer. Definitely will be staying there again. It is an old hotel but it has character and charm that is unbelievable.

Stayed at the Gunter during a return trip from Philadelphia and staying at the center town Sheraton. The contrast was dramatic in comparing a soulless modern hotel with a unique classic from an old era. Frostburg is not Philadelphia, so the reason why one would stay at the Gunter is more aesthetic than big city practical. Remember, this is a... More

Stayed here off the gap trail. Bit of a haul up from the trail, but probably our favorite town. Lots of activity, lots of choices. Be sure to include it. Room was comfortable, no complaints. Enjoyed the hotel and really enjoyed the town

I loved the place. The room was fine with a large bathroom. The lobby is elegant and there is a fine collection of photos and artifacts that give a history of the region. The staff is very friendly. It is just a few block from the bicycle trail. I hope to stay there again.

I was charmed by this old, eccentric hotel. It was refreshing to stay somewhere different. The building is much larger than it looks from the street, lots of nooks and crannies to explore. The location in the middle of downtown Frostburg was great, walking distance to restaurants and bars. Our room was large, with antique furnishings, kind of like staying... More

My wife and I recently (Sept 2016) stayed at the Hotel Gunter on a trip to Indiana. Neither of us were disappointed in any respect. We stayed in room 307 which had gorgeous views of the mountains to the rear of the hotel, and was decorated with beautiful Victorian era furniture and antiques. There was a perfect balance of new... This is an old historic Hotel. With that in mind, it's got it's quirks and failings, but at the same time, it's full of charm and eccentricity. I stayed there because of the history and it is located close to the Greater Allegheny Passage. It was a bit like my old 1800's house. These places are incredibly difficult and expensive... More

Failinger's Hotel Gunther is a gem of a hotel. It is a piece of history, has very clean rooms and friendly staff. Room 307 is quiet and has nice views of the allegheny mountains. It is in a great location on Main Street and very close to the trail head for the Great allegheny passage bike trail. Also the Princess... More

When you enter from the street you see this fabulous grand staircase. Beautifully restored. Rooms are average size, clean and comfortable. Several restaurants within walking distance. Parking...available in back of hotel, but no handicapped. So be prepared to walk a bit. When you enter in back, you come through a museum of memories which is quite interesting. There is also...
