We stayed at the 1828 for one night during an 11 day bike trip from Pittsburgh to Washington along the GAP and C and O trails. The 1828 Trail Inn will bring you back to a time of gracious hospitality. The bedroom was large, and en-suite bathroom well equipped. Decor reflected an older style from when the town was more... Stayed two nights while taking day trips on the WMRT and the C&O Canal tow path. The house is lovely, and the hosts are very nice. We enjoyed the huge front porch. We stayed in the Doctor's Office, which had a comfortable king bed and a spacious bathroom. The only downside was noise from the street - there was some... More

This was the nicest place we stayed on a 5-day bike trip from Pittsburgh to Shepherdstown. It's close to both of the bike trails that run through town and has secure bike storage as well as a place to wash and work on bikes if needed. Our rooms (we were two couples) were both large and both had an outside... More

My husband and I rode up from Williamsport to Hancock and spent one night at the 1828. We were the only bikers that had reservations for the night and there was a newly wed couple checking in later on. I was very nice and quiet. We had a nice long conversation with Darlene. Very lovely and sweet lady. Bill and... More

One of the nicest B&Bs I have stayed in. Came for a long weekend of biking on my 67th birthday and found this a wonderful starting point for out-and-back bike trips on the C&O and WMRT. I agree with everything others have written about the hospitality of the owners, comfort, bike friendliness, and great breakfast. Several other things to point... More

Great access to the two nearby bike trails. The owners are very knowledgeable about the bike trails and area. Breakfast was excellent. Great safe storage area for your bikes. Very clean and attractive house.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights here, very comfortable and accommodating. The breakfasts were wonderful, which is a good thing because. Hancock is seriously lacking in good restaurants. The washer and dryer made available for guests is very convenient, and the water and juice stocked mini-frig a plus. The trail heads for the West Maryland Rail Trail and The C&O... More

VIP treatment at the Inn. Darlene is a darling and Bill the best cook. Linens and towels are of the best quality, great after a day of heavy exercise. They stock the small fridge with refreshing drinks and the breakfast.....delicious!! The Inn is steps from the trail and the C&O canal; during my early morning walk I enjoyed the sighting... More

Road the bike trial from Pgh. to Georgetown the 1828 was my third stop. Did not like the looks of the motels in Hancock. So I took a chance on a B&B. I made the right choice what a great well kept old house. Owners are very nice, room was very clean I stayed in the Doctors office. By myself... More

Stayed here during my 2009 C&O Canal adventure. Good location, center of town, close to restaurants and bike shop. Rooms were clean, there is laundry service and a generous breakfast with the price of the room. Will stay again. Highly recommended for those who are hiking or biking the local trails. The Town Tavern is across the street. I am... More
