Marriott Aloft date of Stay August 5, 2022- Ocean City, Maryland We have been members of Marriott family for over forty years and stayed at numerous properties around the world. We just recently had a wonderful stay at the somewhat new Marriott AC hotel in Washington, DC. So, we thought we would try Aloft in Ocean City, Maryland. We are always willing to see what's new. We were sorely disappointed at the Aloft. I don't know what Marriott is trying to achieve, but unfortunately, this hotel missed the mark. Using the light switches were so confusing. What switch went with what lighting area? The bathroom door was so heaving we could not even close it for privacy. The sink and towels are set up outside the bathroom. Very close to the one of the beds. Forget using it during the night because you will wake your partner up from the noise. The bed was comfortable, and the AC was very quiet. The bathroom was not clean. Black mold was under the rim of the sink, and the drain in the shower. There was no place to put down your own personal products in the shower. The hotel allowed pets and unfortunately rugs were not clean, there where dogs in lobby, in bar area, restaurant outside near pool. The check-in staff was great. Don't think we will try another Aloft hotel again.

Back again and still a great place for a weekend trip to the beach in Ocean City! They gave us a lot of coupons for activities as well! This is my go to place when I come to Ocean City! The only thing I suggest is faster replacement of the towels near the pool! Outside of that this is still a top tier spot for the family!

SHOCKED! Complete disbelief this is an Aloft hotel. Advertised free parking and the lot was always full and shared with other businesses so it was tough finding a spot or you had to park elsewhere and pay. They provided parking tags and most either didn’t have them or were employees. The room needed a deep clean, there was dust on fixtures and carpet was dingy. Walls were paper thin! We heard dogs barking, crying babies and running up and down the halls all night. We had the room above awning so no views and stairwell had fire alarms full of cobwebs Best part of stay was amenities, the free beach , mini golf and drink tickets received at check in. Staff at front desk were nice also. Disappointed in the hotel overall for the rate, it was not worth what we paid which is upsetting.

This is a pet hotel and you could tell it. Our room smelled like dog. The receptionist was rude & eating food while checking us in. Very unprofessional. I would not recommend this hotel. Expect more cleanliness for the $600 room. The side tables between the chairs at the pool were broken.

Super disappointed in our stay this time. We’ve been to aloft before and loved it but this time, my husband and I were put in a handicapped room with no balcony-even though that was not at all requested. This was our first vacation kid-free in many years and we got the crappiest room in the hotel. I’ve been down to the front desk twice to nicely request any other room and have been told no-they are full and we are basically out of luck. The music speaker in the room doesn’t work, theres no closet or even a single hanger, there’s no fitted sheet on the bed, the bathroom door doesn’t close all the way and the room is just the barest of bare. Love the outside area with the bar and pool but having a crappy room is a downer to us on this very rare vacation each time we walk into it. For the $1600 we spent on 2 nights, we could have gotten better at any other local hotel. Sad to say that even with the nice outdoor area, we won’t return.

We enjoyed our stay for the most part. The hotel itself is uniquely designed in an updated loft contemporary way. In the bedroom it’s a little annoying because the bed is very low. So if you are older or have any knee issues you might have trouble. The couch area is also not exactly comfy and made for smaller people. The shower pressure is actually decent. They don’t clean the rooms which is annoying and most places are doing that now. But they will clean it if you request it. We did and they did an OK job. At least they got rid of the trash which we noticed people were piling up in the hallway near the elevator. The result of rooms not getting cleaned regularly. The liquid therapy bar by the pool is awesome! I can’t say enough good things about it. The bartenders are awesome. They gave us helpful dinner recommendations and overall were super friendly. I’d go back just for the bar experience. Plus it overlooks the bay and at sunset which is perfect. The little beach area where you can go out on the floating bar table thingys on the bay, is also awesome. However, drunks sadly throw a lot of trash in. So I was cleaning cups, straws, etc. in the water and on the beach constantly. There are never any pool towels by the pool. I think we got them once in the 3 days we were there. The bathrooms inside regularly run out of toilet paper. Lastly, make sure you get a room with a view of the bay and a balcony. We got probably the worst room it was a view of the parking lot and no balcony. The plus side it was quiet which was nice. They give you coupons for free mini golf, bikes, and chairs /umbrella for on the beach which is really great. The pool is pretty packed but that’s to be expected in peak beach season. They have a fun dj by the pool from around 3-8pm ish but it is LOUD so if you expect to read your book by the pool during this time , forget it. We would come again only if we got a bay front / balcony room. And we would just bring our own beach/ pool towels and maybe toilet paper for the bathroom 😆. One last weird thing to mention is they have a “pop up bar” every night but it seems like it’s in the same spot past the indoor pool and bathrooms. It looked kinda sad. Like 3-4 bottles of cheap wine on a folding table. I saw one couple partaking in the couple days we walked past it. It doesn’t seem necessary since the liquid therapy bar is so awesome. Are people really that desperate for cheap free wine?!?!? Overall a decent experience with the above things to consider.

I love love love the Aloft chain. These hotels are dog friendly and on the verge of catering to the pups which I'm a huge fan of. Each one is unique... The rooms are great and it's less than a block to an easy beach access. I love that the location is a little out of the way so traffic and noise isn't bad. I appreciated that they let us launch kayaks from the Bayside beach area. Also the sunsets on the Bayside are so amazing!!!

If you have never stayed at an Aloft brand hotel, you may want to read up on it to make sure it meets your expectations. The brand is known for "hip" furniture, small tech-savvy rooms, and common spaces with pool tables. Alofts have the big city boutique hotel vibe. It isn't what you'd expect in Ocean City. But it works. The staff is fantastic. I have no idea what the reviewers who have complained about the staff are talking about. Every person I encountered was super-friendly and helpful. From the front desk to the bartender to the housekeepers, the attitude was awesome. This is especially rare in today's challenging labor market. The Aloft was spotless during my stay. They are dog-friendly, but I never saw any dog hair in my room or in the common areas. Like most Marriotts, they no longer do daily housekeeping. (Skimpflation is everywhere). But they're quick to bring extra towels and take away the trash. The bay view rooms have some spectacular views, especially at sunset. The rooms are well-maintained. The hip furniture and high-tech features aren't for everybody-- It's especially annoying that the lights and AC turn off automatically if you leave the room for more than a few minutes. This is a minor complaint with an otherwise-great hotel. Bottom line: The Aloft might not be the best choice for families looking for a true beach experience. But for couples, dog lovers, and solo travelers, it's a place you're likely to find yourself sad to leave.

We booked a room Aloft in Ocean City because they allow you to bring your dogs. We went for a quick Spring Break get away. We booked through our credit card, and they somehow managed to book the wrong room. I had selected 2 Queen Beds with a balcony. We called down to the main desk and they explained the hotel was full for the night. That is when Betsy and Kat went to work. They somehow managed to find us the right room and even brought the new keys up to us. It is because of their efforts that we will always stay at Aloft from here on out. Well done and thank you.

It is a nice hotel - clean, modern, etc. I do wonder how they clean after all those dogs there… kind of disgusting (and I am a dog owner!)! The worst part about it was the service. There was literally not a single friendly manager / front desk / assistant there. I read some of the past reviews and thought that perhaps people are exaggerating on this but it is true. It’s like everyone hates working there. One example was the front-desk assistant who gave us attitude during the check-in. I later went downstairs with my 2 kids to ask for pool towels because there were none at the pool. She rolled her eyes and said she would call housekeeping. About 20 minutes later I walked over to her again to say that my kids wanted to get out of the pool and the housekeeping hasn’t come… and got the “I already told you I called housekeeping” in such a voice that made me cringe. I said that my kids are cold and need towels and she rolled her eyes. The next morning we were going to get breakfast and walked over downstairs. Asked what’s in the omelette. The chef said “ASK THE FRONT DESK” and the front desk had no idea. Took 20 minutes to place the order. They claimed our $20 breakfast credit wasn’t valid - I said forget the credit, I just wanted to get my kids some food, and they made it a point to re-do the credit only to throw that piece of paper (with credit on it) into the garbage. I’ve never actually stayed at a hotel where people consistently had bad attitude. I can only assume that they are either underpaid or miserable because of management. There are too many other nice places in Ocean City, no reason to stay there.
