We stayed in the new building with the indoor pool. It was very nicely updated and clean! Didn’t have the free breakfast or use the pool so can’t comment on that. Awesome location right across from the boardwalk. Staff was nice too. Only weird thing was that the lights are on a sensor. Ours was broken so we couldn’t get the sensor to stop working ugh. Seems like when I moved in bed it would go on! 😭

The Beach Bum Motel is an affordable and super clean stay, with all the beach feels, and only a few feet from the beach and boardwalk. The room offered a close to everything stay, with a porch. It was a comfortable small room that offered a place to sleep and relax, before returning to the fun. The front desk team is super friendly and helpful. We will see you again in May.

Dates of stay: 8/16/20-8/21/20 - First off, customer service was horrible before I even started my stay. There were THREE occasions where I emailed about a special that is on their website and I didn't hear back AT ALL! The special on their website states: "Stay 3, get 4th Night FREE! Arrivals on Sunday and Monday 7/5 and 7/6, 8/16 and 8/17, 8/23 and 8/26 only". Our arrival date was 8/16 and we stayed 5 nights, so we should have gotten ONE night free. But no one got back to my 3 emails (1 through their website contact form and 2 to their email address directly) and the front desk person was very dismissive when we checked in and was no help either. - There were loud, partying guest a couple different nights during our stay. The last night of our stay there were 3 policemen in our hallway with a drunk/high guest. - We put dirty towels and trash outside our door in the hallway Tuesday morning. It didn't get picked up until Thursday and we didn't get new towels and more toilet paper until late Thursday afternoon. No one was around to ask for things and we called twice with no answer. We had to use our own toilet paper that we traveled with because no one gave us more. - Rooms in new building are VERY small and the outside light above balcony is so bright it looks like daylight out all night even with the window shade down. - The breakfast was not at all what we had expected, so we had to dine out for our breakfast.

This is a simple motel for a fair rate. It is two roads from the beach. The road goes straight to the boardwalk where the restroom are. This is a good location for the beach and right about where the boardwalk attractions begin. American staff was nice. Pool was clean. Room was dated but very nice compared to a lot of beach motel. I would stay again.

This place is a good value if it’s sunny and you spend most of your time outside. They lay out is not optimal and the king size bed seemed short, our feet hung over the bottom. We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching people walk by. Close to a small grocery and liquor store and Pickles Pub. Walking distance to the boardwalk and a quiet street. We stayed in unit 31 the King Suite. The air conditioner was loud in our bedroom but honestly we enjoyed our stay. The water was hot in the shower and we had a microwave and mini fridge. I don’t know if I would stay here again but overall it was an enjoyable vacation.

This motel was horrible for the price charged; yes, it's during the Labor Day weekend but $500+ is crazy & how they get you are with all these resort fees, etc that aren't stated upfront. Roaches in bathroom

This is our 3rd time staying at the Beach Bum over a 6 year period. It has improved greatly in those years. The rooms used to be dark and a bit shabby, though clean. They have been updated, freshly painted in brighter colors and are still very, very clean. The beds were very comfortable, the AC cooled the room nicely when turned on 64 degrees. Our room was long and the AC was far from the sleeping area. But it was quiet and plenty cool enough. In fact my husband was a little chilly overnight. The bathroom was spotless and the small kitchen area was, too. We arrived early and our room wasn’t ready, so staff (thanks Virginia) invited us to change in the pool bathroom and enjoy the pool until we could check in. The only negative (besides one noisy neighbor) was that there was a lot of light coming in from outside. The blackout curtains allowed quite a bit of light in. I like a very dark room, so it was a bit of a nuisance, but not a huge deal. The proximity to the beach and the boardwalk, as well as the very reasonable price, make this a good spot for families.

Stayed at the Beach Bum for two nights in August 2018. Check in was easy and our rooms were cleaned and available right away. The room itself was clean and the two full beds were comfy. The air worked great thankfully! We sat out on the balcony and chatted with each other and watched as cars and people walk by. We used the saltwater (I think) pool which was also nice. The hotel was close to the bay (nothing really going on at the bay) and the Boardwalk(within a short walk) and also close to convenience stores for snacks beer/wine and whatever we left home by mistake. There was also a bar restaurant super close called pickles but we didn't go there we went to the boardwalk for mostly all meals. Loved Shenanigans for dinner and brass balls for breakfast. Some suggestions: Make sure to bring your own shampoo/conditioner there were no samples in the room and none at the desk. Also if you stay in the main hotel the lights on the porch will make you think it's daytime even at night(the curtains don't quite cover the entire window at the top)..Bring a clock (which also wasn't in the room) so when you wake up you can check the time. We also ubered to Seacrets and really liked the tropical feel of that place. A 20-30 year old croud (we are not that age). We ate there for lunch and had a few drinks too. I'm sure the night vibe is way different than the day vibe.. And I bet a reggae band would be perfect there! All in all a nice trip to Ocean City and stay at the Beach Bum. Next time we will try for a room on the boardwalk!

Save yourself some time, and a lot of frustration, by staying anywhere else. The rooms are filthy, the walls are paper thin, and the management is utterly incompetent. I brought my wife and nephews here, and was given a room with a broken sleeper sofa. When I mentioned this to the front desk, they were apathetic at best. We needed the sleeper sofa so that everyone had a place to sleep, but they had no interest in fixing it. When I asked about being placed in another [functional] room, I was told they did have vacant rooms but would not allow us to stay in one. AJ, the night manager, showed no desire to help whatsoever. He didn’t even identify himself as a manager, and had no name tag or other insignia to indicate he was a member of management. When I asked for a manager to be called, all he told me was “I’m not gonna do that. She has a baby at home.” Ultimately they did provide a single roll away bed for the night, but didn’t have a second, so I ended up sleeping on the floor. When I speak Ken to the General Manager while checking out the next morning, she didn’t even offer so much as an apology for the massive inconvenience. Needless to say, I will never stay at this wretched place again.

DO NOT (for any reason) BOOK THIS FACILITY (Beach Bum Motel Ocean City MD). This hotel hid (their) mandatory documents, requirements and fees that you do not find out about until after you book it. Then there is a deposit of $200.00 plus non-refundable for any type of cancellation or reason even after you confront them on hidden fees and requirements. They acknowledge this but will not (did not offer to) do anything about it to reconcile the situation. This is not good business practice if they want future business and recommendations. Save your family and friends trouble and hassle.... PLEASE do not book or look at this facility. We flushed the $200.00 plus and went to a better hotel that was more customer friendly service, family friendly and better business oriented. This facility will never have any of my business again. Tom A.
