First they kept calling to see where we were because they wanted to go home. The office is NOT open all the time. Then they gave us a room key to an occupied room and left. Had to call him to get him back for a different room key. Then we had to call him back because there were no toiletries in the room, including toilet paper. He said to give him a half hour. After a long drive waiting a half hour for TP really is uncomfortable. Then when we showered the knob wouldn’t turn past warm. Finally when we asked the lady at check out if there was anything she could do to make it right, she said we should have told her about the hot water the day before. However we didn’t shower until after the beach, in the evening, when they don’t like to be in the office. No one was there to tell. Not to mention our door that didn’t close all the way because it looked like someone kicked it in and then it was “repaired.” Just know when you go there you’re on your own. Their response is slow. They’re not always in the office. And there are holes in the walls that have kind of been patched and stains all over the carpet. Not very clean. Dirty envelope in the room asking for cash tips for housekeeping.…
Beyond atrocious!!!!!! I have never been belittled and spoken to so RUDELY by an employee of a hotel or anywhere for that matter. 2 of my party of 4 went to check in last night (it was prior to 10pm) and they were immediately turned away from a room that had been PAID FOR IN FULL a few days prior (the room was $470 dollars). They were flabbergasted. They were turned away because they checked in after 6pm (I do a ton of traveling and have NEVER been turned away from a paid in full room). The woman behind the counter claimed that they had been trying to reach me all day. I received no phone calls or e-mails from the hotel. I called to see what was going on and I was very rudely told that they had been trying to reach me all day (false) and that they had canceled the room a half hour prior and already resold the room because it was way too late (it was 945). I said ok, you've refunded me then right? "Oh no, that's not our policy" (which, by the way, is also a lie, stated on their own website it says that they refund everything except the deposit fee WHICH THAT FEE IS NOT LISTED ANYWHERE) I then said but you've already resold the room???? "Oh no, we didn't resell it, but they can't check in and it's your responsibility to keep track of your reservation not me." She continued to be rude and belittle me and then after saying she was going to refund me changed her mind and said if I wanted to have my money back I needed to call in the morning and hung up on me. I called back this morning and politely asked for a manager. After refusing me to speak to a manager the woman (same from last night) continued to be rude to me and belittle me after I very calmly explained that I wanted to speak to someone after a conversation I had with a rude employee last night and to get my refund. I could not believe when she said to me the following "why do you keep calling me, you should be going through the booking agency, we don't give money back, why are you being rude to me, we have a policy that the customer is always right but in this case it is not true, if you want your money back go somewhere else" I said ok, I will be disputing the charge with my bank then. She said fine and hung up on me, again. I sent my husband over there and only then did she give us a full refund after he proved to her that there were no phone calls or emails received (which it was then discovered that they had incorrect information written down for me yet she continued to somewhat blame me). So...all in all, this has been an absolutely horrible and demeaning experience and after looking through other reviews this is not the first time that there have been issues with this woman. Perhaps she should look to be replaced??? You are in the hospitality industry supposedly...…
I wish I could give a ZERO. This was a terrible place to stay. We stayed in an apartment they had because of the size of our family and it was very unkept and dirty. The shower did not drain while you were showering. There was hardly anyone around that ran the place. Very rude when they were. Had to take down dirty towels and ask for new ones daily. This place was a complete dump.
If I could leave this hotel negative stars, my god I would. This is my honest raw review of this hotel I stayed at a year ago with my boyfriend and best friend. When we arrived, My boyfriend and I were 19, and my friend was 17 (almost 18). When I went to go check in, I was barely offered a hello before being asked for my card right away. I instead told her my name and handed her my identification. She asked me the ages of everyone in my party and when I told her that one of us was 17 she threw a whole fit about how that wasn’t allowed (even though when we pre-booked our reservation with a deposit online, we noted the ages of everyone). We eventually got that part figured out by having my friends mom email the hotel that he was allowed to stay there that weekend, even though he didn’t even live at home with her and was living with us at the time. She then told me that she had extra security deposits to put on the card and I told her I already paid the deposit online. She tried to convince me that that was the same payment and that I did not make that payment yet. I shower her my bank statement that proved otherwise. After a lot of back and forth and my boyfriend getting upset with the lack of genuine service he had to leave the lobby and she made rude comments to me on him, his “attitude”, and his weight. I told her we would stay somewhere else, to drop the whole thing, and to give me my money back. Upon this request she brought out who I assumed was her son to “deal with me.” I explained the situation to him and told him we no longer wanted to room here. He told me he’d only refund me one night’s worth of money. They’d keep the security and first two night’s stay. Absolutely not! After fighting back and forth about the payments and the duration of stay and the rude comments, we figured out some sort of “solution” and we paid what we had originally expected to pay and finally got into our room after over an hour of debating with this lady and her son (who, i forgot to mention didn’t speak the best english which made everything more difficult). We got our things to our room and took photos immediately of everything to time stamp exactly what the room looked like before our stay. It wasn’t pretty. The walls were dirty, the shower was scummy, there were scratches and scrapes on almost every corner of every piece of furniture and we documented everything because we knew if we hadn’t they’d probably try and take the security deposit from us. Fast forward into the evening, we’d been to the beach, we’d visited part of the boardwalk and we came back to our room. My boyfriend went to lay down because he was tired, and my friend and i sat on the balcony talking about the day and sharing our photos and eating some food we had brought back from the boardwalk. The front desk lady came upstairs to us and snapped at us for talking to loud. Talking to loud?! It was only 9:30pm and we were speaking in a normal tone and we were outside, not in the hallway by the bedrooms. Some group of people walked by the hotel, and us having fun and wanting to make friends, said hi and we sparked up conversation with one of the people. He hung out with us for maybe 20 minutes or so? Front desk lady again- interrogating us about who’s this boy was and if he was staying in our room, because if we’re caught with more people than we paid for we’d be fined. Chill the f*** out lady! We said hi to someone and talked to them for a few minutes. It felt like we were being spied on and watched with grandma’s eagle eye. Creepy. We are just some young adults on vacation, leave us the h*** alone. The following days similar events happened of her questioning every move we made and accusing us of hiding someone in the room. We’re just here to have a decent vacation and you’re ruining it lady. Finally the check-out morning came and we were so thankful to be the heck out of there. We had already booked another hotel, this time with a known-name chain right off the boardwalk. We’d only originally chose Ocean Lodge for the price and it looked cute, only a two minute walk from the boardwalk. We got all our stuff out of there and took more photos to show that everything looked EXACTLY the same as it had and I kept those as a record (I even still have them to this day). What do you know, she tried to keep part of our security deposit! We denied that real quick and told her we did nothing wrong, and she was trying to con a couple of kids and that what she was doing was f’d up. We argued about it for a while...again...again... Finally she gave up and just gave the money back and we told her we would never return. If you’re thinking about trying to score a cheap stay for a few nights at the beach, think again. You’ll be tricked, cheated, lied to, and your whole stay will be ruined. Stick to well-known chains. More money, but well worth it.…
My daughter was spending a day and night in OC for her birthday. I wanted to pay for my daughters room as a present. Since we live in PA we called to arrange everything I was assured that everything was taken care of and that my daughter would have a smooth check in when she got there. Fast forward to today, my daughter calls me and I can hear the beast at the front desk rudely addressing her. Turns out that although I was charged for the room and assured that everything was taken care of, this sorry excuse for a hotel person now says that there are extra charges. I asked to speak with her so that it could be explained to me and she refused to talk to me. I had to call the main number only to have her hang up on me. Unbelievable! I have never experienced such unprofessional and ignorant behavior from a hotel. Stay far far away from this place. I would give them a -5 star if I could.…
We stayed in this hotel twice last summer as last minute bookings and enjoyed our visits. So we decided around 930pm last Sunday we wanted to go to the beach for a few nights. I called to see if they had any vacancy and if checking in late would be ok as we were driving 2.5 hours to get there after work. The rate was very affordable and they were very welcoming just sad we remembered last year. The room was clean and the sheets smelled clean with very comfortable pillows. Not much room inside the room but it is exactly what we look for when we get away together. We will be back again for sure.
I stayed in this place with two friends. Upon check in, we dropped our personal belongings and went back to the beach. When we arrived later and turned on the tv, it was broken. We went to the lobby immediately and no one could be found at the front desk, we rang the bell and no one ever came despite the 24 hour service that they claim to offer. The next morning we went back down to the front desk and spoke with a very rude lady. We told her that our tv was broke and she basically blamed us and threatened to call the police on us. She told us there would be a $220 charge and she very quickly put it on our credit card. The tv was broke when we got there but this lady didn't care. We also got yelled at while sitting on the shared balcony and people watched. They treat it like a prison. They totally took advantage of 3 20 year old females.…
I was staying in 102. I checked in at 4:30 after a walk out on the boardwalk I returned at 8 and turned the TV on. To my surprise is was broken. I called the owner immediately. Her kindness turned into Rudness and accusations. She accused me of breaking the TV and made threats to charge me. Never in my life have I been treated in such an awful way. Stay away from this establiment.....
The staff was nice and friendly. And very helpful. The hotel room is clean and nice. They do have off street parking. They have dish tv. It’s close enough to the broad walk to walk there. It’s a no smoking but they do have an area for you to if you do. And they have coffee in the morning.
I booked a room and received a confirmation email. Then hours later (at midnight while I was half asleep) got an email saying that my "credit card was invalid and could not be charged successfully". So I called my credit card company, they said there were no issues or blocks on their end. They hadn't even received any charge attempt from the merchant yet. Then after hanging up I get another email 20 minutes later staying that the hotel cancelled my reservation. I called the hotel and they insisted that "there was a problem flagged by their system". Regardless, the same room for the same price was no longer available. They offered me a worse room for $30 more. I said no, and informed them I'd be writing negative reviews. The woman told me "go ahead" and now I'm here.
