We booked this at over $2500 for a few days because of the location and rooms on the beach. The lobby is pristine, smelled great and looked modern, that all ends there. It was disappointingly dated. The room: We booked the two queen cabana, ocean front. The room is on the first floor with walk-out access to the beach. Unfortunately, you cannot simply walk from the lobby to the first floor. You are required to take an elevator up to the second floor, walk to another elevator or stairs and take it back down. It is like a maze, unnecessarily complicated and inefficient for small children. It was super inconvenient and elevators took a long time. The room was unclean, floors were dirty, tile in the bathroom & kitchen were loose, visible mold on walls. The room, carpet, curtains are all dated (with holes in curtains) and need serious updating. Only the lobby is modern. Room is spacious with 2 beds and a living area. While the room is a walkout to the beach, the lawn in the front of the room was always in use by other guests and left no free chairs for us. Kind of pointless paying for the view, when you could not use it. Amenities: The pool is large. It is indoor and in view of all rooms with a pool view so not much of a view. The water was cold. The restaurants were ok, the food was decent and the drinks at Current were great. You can’t beat the convenience of the having two restaurants and bars by the beach but they are pricey and good luck getting anyone to answer your calls to place to-go orders. The beach is clean but gets crowded. What we noticed were people parking in the designated lot and bringing chairs to the beach…locals were everywhere on the beach taking up room meant for hotel guests. The waves are sizable and the beach has a dune that goes down to a drop where the waves break. It isn’t very safe for little kids and many adults were falling in that drop as well. The parking lot was often full with no valet parking. The good – the drinks were excellent, there is live music some nights and the food comes out pretty fast. Staff: The hotel staff is TERRIBLE. When you call you get a customer service center and no one on the premises. I called repeatedly with questions about the room and have yet to speak with anyone. I called to ask about our balcony, but the call center had no idea and couldn’t get a live person on the premises in over a month. While at the hotel, I called for the restaurant and was incorrectly transferred to the “Engineering” department. The restaurants were never full but I always received voicemail when attempting to call. There doesn’t appear to be any attention or care put into the people coming and going into the hotel. Like I said, people were accessing the pool that were not guests at the hotel. The wait staff at both restaurants were efficient and thorough when we dined there. Value: We paid over $600 per night. I think this “resort” is very overpriced. Aside from the ease of access to the beach, I would not recommend this hotel.…
I booked this hotel based off of the high reviews on trip advisor. With that being said, I was disappointed with the hotel room but liked the oceanfront beach location. Our room was a spacious king size suite equipped with a full kitchen. Our location was pool level and just steps away from the beach. The negative aspect of our stay was an off and on foul smell coming from the toilet (maybe a venting issue). Housekeeping only cleaned when requested; when they did show up, they did a decent job. What could have been improved was: our safe was not functioning even though we had told the front desk when we arrived, no repair was made.
Arrived on a Thursday 1pm, check in was at 5 pm. They have a huge parking garage. We enjoyed the pool before our room was ready. Opted for text messaging so I was able to text to receive updates when room was ready 3 pm. The room was spacious. 4 th floor king ocean view. The bed was very comfortable and huge. My 2.5 year old slept in a pack n play along the side of the bed. Plenty of room. They have a full kitchen. Full size fridge and freezer(with ice maker), dishwasher with 1 load soap, utensils, cups, plates, two burners, coffee maker, and microwave. They provide two dish towels. I recommend bringing paper towels. Ac worked great. It was very hot out so it seemed to run constantly but didnt mind it. Theres a door to the bedroom so i had my 7 month old sleep in a pack n play in living room with sound machine. He slept better than at home. Go figure ! The rooms are very quite. Never heard any other guests. If you want to ask for a crib be aware it will be a pack and play. Bathrooms were very clean and housekeeping are super friendly. They supplied us with more towels and whatnot. Front desk can use some smiles and cheer. The pool was nice just super busy and had some very excited kids. So it was enough in small doses. Nice bar by pool to grab a drink. Access to the beach was easy. We brought our beach wagon which was extremely helpful. The hotel restaurant was blah or to be expected for hotel food. We did the breakfast one morning and that was enough. The boardwalk is 10-15 drive away. Was able to find parking without a problem. So much to do we ended up extending our trip another day. We vacationed with two other families, we were 6 adults, 3 toddlers, and 2 babies. We never had an issue with finding a place to eat to accommodate all of us. The most we ever waited was 10 min.…
My wife and I just returned from a stay at the Princess Royale with our 3 kids. The hotel was decent. We had a pool view king suite with a patio on the pool level which made it very easy for us and our kids to enjoy the pool. The pool was nice, but be aware, it was cold. And yes, there’s sand around the pool deck. I felt that the bedroom was quiet when the sliding glass door was closed. The AC did make the room chilly, but it can be adjusted to your liking. Having the kitchen and the living room was a nice bonus. The room came fully stacked with plates; utensils; etc. We even had some groceries delivered to our room. My sons slept on the pull-out in the living room – unfortunately it was not very comfortable. The living room was very loud as well. If people passed by, you could easily hear them. But all and all, there was enough room for 2 adults and 3 kids. I will say though that the hotel, aside from the lobby, and the room do need updating. Not a whole lot of towels; the flooring needed a lot of work – the tiles in the kitchen area had cracks; carpeting was ok; and the ceilings did also need some work. I would also recommend the TVs having some streaming stations, instead of basic cable, especially nowadays. In terms of food, there’s not a whole lot of stuff there – Schooner’s was okay for a basic breakfast buffet; the Current was good for drinks at the pool during the day (I recommend the Electric Lemonade or the Malibu Barbie); and the Royale Roasters coffee shop was great for the morning – yes they serve Starbucks coffee, but they do a great job with it and it doesn’t feel like you’re at a Starbucks – it feels as if you’re at a great independent coffee shop. I can’t understand though how a “resort” cannot have room service – at least for appetizers or something. But hopefully that can be changed down the road. That’s about it – to get a good meal, you do have to venture out into OC. Check-in/check-out was easy. The staff was decent. Yes, there are some who have issues communicating, but nothing that is terrible. Parking sucks though! You have to park in a parking garage across the street from the lobby. Be careful if you have a large SUV or truck; making those turns is not easy. And if you have to go up to the higher levels, I suggest taking the stairs because you’ll have a birthday waiting for the elevator. The beach is nice; easy to get to and the sand is great! They even have a little stand where you can purchase sand toys, boogie boards, etc. However, you will have to pay for a beach chair and umbrella if you didn’t bring your own. Be prepared to spend $$ in the gift shop too. Be aware too that there are no lifeguards on duty. If you have young kids, that ocean is dark and has a strong current. Overall, this resort is meh. I would suggest something that’s more in the middle of things, e.g., the Hilton, or another resort that has a reputable name to it. Would I come back to OC? Definitely. Would I stay at this resort? Probably not.…
Nice room partial ocean view at oceanfront with large indoor pool open till 10! Room with sleeper sofa and 2 queens was perfect and even had fridge and kitchen with silverware and bowls, etc. Great for quick stay or even longer stay. Arcade on lower level too so really nice for families. Staff were friendly, room was as clean. Even had keurig. We loved it and hope to be back!
Disgusting establishment. Would never stay here ever again. If i can attach photos I would. I will find another website where I can. Water damage in the room, mold in the corners of the room and ceiling, the fan had thick dust on the wings, no drain in the bathtub and you can see clumps of someone else's hair in it, the bathroom sink had weird brown stains, there is mildew or mold crusted crap around the bathroom sink, dust in the kitchen area, super loud at night because our balcony overlooks the bar area, carpet was mushy, the ac blows right onto you at night. Just outright gross. Did not see one hand sanitizer machine. If you order towels for your room or shampoo takes 40 plus minutes. We paid 1300 for two nights. Not sure how this place got amazing reviews. Worst experience ever. I would not be surprised if we got covid again or even monkeypox at this point. Will post pictures on tripadvisor. Oh and the water fluctuates from hot to cold.…

Loved our stay at the Princess Royale! Outstanding location with an "island vibe." Loved the daily live music at the Tiki Bar and the breathtaking ocean view! Shout out to Wassim for his exceptional customer service! Wassim was polite, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, kind, patient and respectful. The Princess Royale is a terrific place for families to stay -- in addition to its excellent beach access (located directly on the beach), it has good proximity to Boardwalk, mini-golf, other recreational activities and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and clean. WE WILL DEFINITELY RETURN TO THE PRINCESS ROYALE! - C Crossley & Family
