The Robert Morris Inn has long been a classic place to stay and dine in Oxford. Oxford is a small, simple, historic town, and the Inn is a small, simple, historic inn. It is not the Hyatt Regency. It is the Real Deal. Spouse and I travel there for one purpose: Their crab cakes. They are the gold standard and...

Thank you so much for travelling far for our crab cakes and we are delighted they made expectation. We inherited a great recipe that we just made better, but more than that it is ensuring we get the freshest premium jumbo lump crab right from the river in front of the Inn. We look forward to your return with anticipation....

I was so excited to stay at the Robert Morris Inn in Oxford MD. My dis appointment began the moment we arrived: peeling paint on the exterior walls. Fake flowers in the hanging baskets, weedy overgrown flower beds all before entering the dingy tired room that barely resembles the photos on the Inn's web page. The Inn's highly regarded restaurant...

Thank you for visiting our historic Inn and sharing. Through this and other means we can improve what we offer. We too are disappointed you did not enjoy your experience and given we talked to you throughout you stay, we would have been grateful for you saying something at the time, we could have changed room, cooked you alternative dishes...

A lovely old inn (emphasize old). Rooms are small and dated, but if you are into antiques and history this is the place. Wonderful history and great location right at the ferry on the river. Very nice dining room hosting a reception during our stay. The tavern is even better and we really enjoyed dinner there. Excellent breakfast from the...

Let me start with the strong points. The staff was more than helpful and friendly. The parking was never a problem. The room had an excellent window air conditioner that kept the room nice and cool considering the almost 100 degree day outside. The restaurant downstairs was excellent. The food was fabulous and delicious. We had breakfast 2 days and...

My sister and I just spent one night at the Robert Morris Inn. The last time we were there was 1972! Oxford has not changed much, nor has RMI. We stayed in "Bottle 1", which is one half of a little cottage next to the main old building. Everything was just right: comfortable beds, beautiful view of the water and...

We were delighted to welcome you back to our historic Inn and peaceful town and indeed, neither changed significantly, This is what makes it such a special oasis in an otherwise crazy busy world. We look forward to welcoming you back but hopefully less of a gap than previously. Regards Ian & Mark

One of the highlights of our trip was arriving at this inn last week. We were a little late for dinner but they told us they served dinner to 9pm. They served us on the edge of their porch facing the water in all directions. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The food was very good. For me the town...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once the home of Robert Morris who gained fame as "Financier of the Revolution". General and later President George Washington was a close friend and visited Robert Morris often. In more recent times author James Michener outlined his famous novel, Chesapeake here and fell in love with our renowned crab cakes. More history is located here. Now the Eastern Shore's most unique historic restaurant with rooms under celebrity Chef Proprietor, Mark Salter and Ian Fleming. Enter the Inn and step back 300 years: a pristine yet historic interior welcomes with timber beams, panelled walls and open fires in the cooler months. Through to Salter's Tavern featuring historic red brick walls and old slate floors, with magnificent fires in the cooler months and offering casual outside dining on our Terraces and Veranda during balmy warm summers. This is a truly historic Inn, cosy with a natural patina running through. Friendly, great cuisine and understated professional service. ... more   less
