The cottage was spacious and nicely decorated. Enjoyed relaxing on the deck. Wish we could have stayed another night. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends!

If you are looking for a romantic getaway full of peace, quiet, and really good breakfast - this is it. We had never kayaked before but we found it extremely easy and immediately fell in love with it. In the Summer on Friday nights, the College of St. Mary's has free concerts. Excellent music from world reknown performers. Bring your...

After attending a wedding at Woodlawn back in May, my wife and I decided to spend a few days here as part of our summer vacatioin. It was a perfect place to take our dog and relax doing as much or as little as you want. We spent a lot of time kayaking on the creek and taking in some...

We have stayed twice in the cottages at Woodlawn Farm, and have thoroughly enjoyed the facilities, the service, the grounds, the area and the breakfast both times. This perhaps quietest of all Maryland locations is a gem for those who seek solitude, yet just enough attractions to distract from the peace and calm of the views over lazy Calvert Creek....

My wife and I returned to Woodlawn for our 3rd wedding anniversary, after having been married there in 2007. Woodlawn is a wonderfully restored historic home situated on Calvert Creek with picturesque views of the Chesapeake Bay. Whether you stay in a suite in the main house or one of the private cottages, room accommodations are first class all the...

Just returned from an incredible stay at the Woodlawn Inn. What a picturesque location and the perfect spot for a family with small kids! Our two loved exploring the property and had a blast in the boxwood garden... awesome tunnels! Breakfast was yummy and the innkeeper, Jim, was the perfect host. He even gave all of us a full tour...

My wife and I had a wonderful stay-over at this historic house a little over an hour from Washington, DC in southern Maryland near St. Mary's. This area is loaded with sites for the history buff, from colonial days to Civil War era, including John Wilkes Booth's escape route. But this inn and the owner, Jim Grube, were a terrific...

We found Woodlawn on the net, and chose it from a number of B&Bs in Southern MD. It was a mid-week three-day Anniversary get-away, and turned out to be perfect in every regard. From the first phone call, follow-up emails, and throughout the stay, owner/innkeeper Jim Grube was the consummate host: easy-going, accomodating, good advice, and intelligent wide-ranging conversation. You...

We had a wonderful stay at the Woodlawn Inn. We stayed in the Magnolia Cottage and it was perfect for a night or two. Nice large tub and great views of the water. We brought scrabble and didn't turn the TV on once. We had the freedom to explore the large estate and the house was totally on limits. We...

I have long been a proponent of leaving the interstates and traveling old roads to catch a flavor of the area I’m traveling through. My curiosity is routinely piqued by what lies at the end of those long driveways that turn off these roads that centuries ago were just paths between far-flung homesteads. Driving to Woodlawn Farms finally satisfied a...

“There are only two rooms in the main house. The Calvert Suite has the river view. Would recommend. This is an old house but has everything you could want. There are four other buildings a short walk from the house with kitchens and sitting rooms. Some of our group were out there. All have wonderful river views as the river bends right there. No TV .”

“Great view of the water. Make sure that you turn the A/C down before you leave your room. The air doesn't blow very hard and it takes a little while to cool down the room. Firm beds.”
