As members of the Ford-V8 Antique Club we went to the Berkshires to find a Motel that we could stay for a weekend and enjoy the sites. We came upon the Briarcliff and we all fell in love with the place. The Host, Clare and Richard were so kind from the very moment we met them. We had a tour...

We usually prefer to thank reviewers privately, but a couple of things need to be said here, Florence. Firstly, thank you for bringing your wonderful old Fords to the motel. Seeing your beautifully-restored cars and trucks parked in front of our restored 60s motorlodge all weekend made me think about how ultimately rewarding it can be to bring things back...

Very clean and comfortable rooms, recently renovated with modern design and amenities. Owners are very nice and pointed us to a great spot in town for dinner. Was easy to explore the town of Great Barrington (5 min drive) and we also enjoyed hiking Monument Mountain (trail head right across the street).

The Briarcliff is the highlight of every trip to the Berkshires. The owners Richard and Clare are wonderful, and every recommendation they have ever given me for the area has been superb. Breakfast in the intimate but chic eating/common area is an absolute joy. I love the rooms too - clean, minimal, all I need in a hotel. I can't...

We enjoyed everything about this motel; location, cleanliness, comfort, decor, breakfast, and especially Clare and Richard. They have a wonderful way of making you feel very welcome, taking time to talk with you in the morning and truly wanting not only your stay at the Briarcliff to be great, but everything about your visit. We would definitely stay here again.

At a distance Briarcliff looks like atypical motel. Not so! The accommodation is just fine, comfortable, good facilities without being fancy. Just very nice. The big plus are the proprietors, a lovely English couple, who know instinctively how to make their guests feel very welcome. Nothing is too much, such as making a booking at a local restaurant or pointing...

We stayed at the Briarcliff for just one night and really enjoyed it. The rooms are modern, very clean and comfortable. Although it's located on a main thoroughfare the room was extremely quiet. The property is large and quite nice. We had a wonderful breakfast the next morning with local and yummy yogurt, home made granola, muffins and scones. In...

I absolutely loved the Briarcliff. I was in town to work a wedding nearby, and really enjoyed the pleasant, serene environment of this motel. The rooms were clean and cozy, with just the right balance between a modern yet classic feel. The view of the surrounding area is gorgeous, and the fire pit and fire lamps provide a fun ambiance...

We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. You start with the relaxed setting, super clean and retro style, not sure whether the design touches belong to Richard or Clare, but they are unique. Add the unusual interest that both Richard and Clare have in making sure that we enjoyed our experience not just at the hotel but in...

An old motel remodeled into a surprisingly comfortable B & B. We stayed 6 nights and had nothing to complain about: comfortable beds, updated bathrooms, plenty of storage and, best of all, great breakfasts served by marvelous hosts: Claire and Richard.

I read about this B and B/renovated motel in the Washington Post at the end of May and knew I wanted to stay here. Myself, my husband, and our dog spent the nights of Sept. 30-Oct. 2nd, 2016. The room (there are two reserved for pets) was spacious, extremely clean, and quite comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with different homemade...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
New English owners Clare & Richard Proctor have turned this classic 1960 motor lodge, with its spectacular view of Monument Mountain, into a cool 21st century b&b. We offer great value, clean comfortable rooms with a stylish edge, free wifi, a home-made breakfast of scones, muffins and granola with locally-roasted coffee, and a warm welcome. Chill out on the deck in summer, or by the stove in our guest lounge in winter. We are five minutes from Great Barrington and Stockbridge, and under 15 from Tanglewood. ... more   less
