We visit the area often and continue to enjoy the mix of old-school Berkshire roadside lodging and modernist touches with which the moteliers have imbued the Briarcliff. Even on a one-night stopover, it's a pleasure to have a clean, comfortable room and bed, and to be able to pop a bottle of something in the room fridge for later. The...

A bit disappointed based on the website. The beds were not comfortable and there were photos and cards with push pins on the wall for decoration. The breakfast scones were stale and the "fruit" was bananas and apples. The water from the shower flies out all over the floor because there is only a half glass wall. There is no...

The Briarcliffe Motel, is indeed just as it says on the box, a motel! But what does that mean to a Brit. on the road? Well you can drive right up to your room door, is that all? I suppose no stairs ! There is a central common area for check in and out and Breakfast, plus general lounging around...

Whereas the typical ma and pa is a mishmash of this chair from who knows where and that nightstand from yonder yard sale, the Briarcliff is about cohesion, from the slate blue walls of my room to the slate blue and white tiles in the bathroom to the white slipcovers and white Japanese floor lamp. Towels are plush and the...

Clare and Richard are wonderful innkeepers who clearly have a passion for the art of hospitality. They conscientiously attend to every detail: fun, tasteful and comfortable decor, luxurious toiletries, and a wonderfully delicious breakfast (we enjoyed local yogurt with granola, homemade maple scones and banana bread, and hardboiled local eggs (which, in lovely speckled tans, browns, whites and grey-blues, were...

Four years later, which was our next trip to the area, we returned. Claire and Richard are wonderful. Rooms are very comfy and clean. Location couldn't be better. Breakfast is delicious!! They have helped by providing excellent suggestions on where to go based on what we wanted to do. Thank you!

This Motel/contemporary B&B was just lovely and perfect. Great view, quiet area, not too far from all sights. The British couple that run it are very friend and helpful. Also, dog-friendly remember "dog people are good people". The decor is so funky yet cozy, giving it a welcoming hip vibe. If you stay here YOU MUST try the SCONES! They...

The reviews for this place raved, but we thought it was just okay, far from wonderful. It's an old style park in front of your room motel that has been polished up and decorated nicely, but its age showed. We had to change rooms because the pipes were banging in our room next to the water tanks (avoid #7 if...

The Briarcliff Inn is a fresh take on the old-school motel. The simple rooms show attention to all the important particulars that insure a comfy night’s stay – like great mattresses – bumped up a notch with fun artwork and furniture. The bathrooms have glass-enclosed, walk-in showers that give a modern feel to the simple space. Guests gather in the...

My family and I stayed here during a road trip through eastern Massachusetts in November, 2016. The motel is conveniently located on a main road near Great Barrington within easy drive of Stockbridge and other local tourist destinations. The rooms are simple, but delightfully decorated and have all the necessary basics. Homemade muffins, etc and fresh coffee are available in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
New English owners Clare & Richard Proctor have turned this classic 1960 motor lodge, with its spectacular view of Monument Mountain, into a cool 21st century b&b. We offer great value, clean comfortable rooms with a stylish edge, free wifi, a home-made breakfast of scones, muffins and granola with locally-roasted coffee, and a warm welcome. Chill out on the deck in summer, or by the stove in our guest lounge in winter. We are five minutes from Great Barrington and Stockbridge, and under 15 from Tanglewood. ... more   less
