My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the Whistler's Inn. Our room was on the lower level of the carriage house just a few steps from the main house. Staying in the room clearly conveyed a true sense of going back in time and the sparse amenities that were reflective of nearly two centuries ago. The room though was...

This is an elegant inn with yesteryear's charm. Lots of antiques. Other guests have come to indulge in the surrounding culture. The grounds including the lawn, patio and flower gardens are beautiful. We were lucky to have great weather and loads to do in the Lenos area.

Gorgeous property, great location to Lenox restaurants, etc, and delightful owners and manager. They accommodated me with my tiny dog when another possibility tanked. The owners are intelligent, interesting people, as were the varied guests. I particularly connected with Lisa Mears, Manager and daughter of Joan and Richard; she also prepared a delectable breakfast.

We stayed for a couple of nights in the Africa room, the top floor of what used to be the coach house, less than 100 yards from the main part of the inn. The room was, as the title implies, charming, with memorabilia from the owners' many trips to the African continent. Stairs to the room are old and narrow,...

We stopped by this inn on a previous trip to the Berkshires to check it out for this long weekend we are just ending, and am I glad we did. This is a lovely old Victorian mansion built around 1870. It is run by a group of enthusiastic innkeepers, who are doing an amazing job of keeping this old building...

Very beautiful Victorian mason, breakfast was also very good. My only complaints was my mattress, which needs to be changed, and the wifi signal was very very weak. Other than that the folks running it are very friendly and knowledgeable about surrounding areas, restaurants, and ongoing events.

The welcoming living and dining rooms are packed with fascinating memorabilia, as well as books, the NY Times, and a decanter of sherry or port. Friendly atmosphere, engaging conversations with hosts and guests over delicious breakfasts. Comfortable rooms. Beautiful porch and gardens as well as extensive grounds, including a large, complex maze carved out of kudzu. Hosts are warm and...

We've been to Tanglewood many times, but never stayed in Lenox. We were so pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful inn so close. Stayed in coach house this time, but will make our reservations sooner next year so we can experience a room in the main building.

Welcoming, intelligently engaging with all the guests, and what delicious and sumptuous breakfasts they served over our 3-day stay ! ! ! This was a return-reservation after 8 years away. Fascinating history told of their inheritance and legacy from James McNeil Whistler. Nearby, plenty of hiking trails at the public Park.

Thank you for the wonderful review. We are glad that you came back to visit us! Yes, Whistler's Inn is a great place to meet people from all walks of life, especially those who love to engage in the arts, such as music and theater, both abundant in the Berkshires.

My wife and I recently stayed here over 3 nights for our 20th wedding anniversary, and were quite pleased with the overall experience. The Inn certainly fits the description of an old Tudor mansion, and felt as comfortable as if one were visiting a relative's old home. Richard and Joan were the perfect hosts, making conversation easily but not interfering...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Featured on The Travel Channel and Great Escapes, this 1820 English Tudor mansion in the heart of the Berkshires was once the home of the railroad tycoon Ross Wynans Whistler, nephew of the painter James M. Whistler. Close to Tanglewood and all major Berkshire cultural venues, Whistler's Inn captures the warmth and elegance of a bygone era. On six acres of gardens and woodlands and two blocks from the center of Lenox, this quiet antique and art-filled retreat has an extensive library and French music room with a Steinway grand piano. A buffet breakfast is served with recipes inspired by the cook's world travels (Spain, France, Israel, South America, Japan and Morocco). ... more   less
